Einhander

Wind Waker I guess. It was and still is by far my favorite Zelda game even after playing the rest of the main entries in the years since.

Recently, einhander

Majora's Mask

Super Mario World

Nearly every other SNES game I remember liking as a kid repulses me now.

Definitely Einhander

Homeworld, starcraft 1, AoE II.

more like einminder amirite

Chrono Trigger

Roller coaster tycoon 1 & 2, any civilization game, Star Wars podracing for n64 to name a few

All 3 Crash + CTR

Earthbound

Sf3,crash bandicoot,tekken3

Future Cop: LAPD
Banjo Kazooie
Donkey Kong Country 2
VTMB

thats called nostalgia you faggot

Most SNES games, really.

Halo

X1
Batman NES

Chrono Trigger and Cross. Fuck purists.

>tfw became too casual and now games played as a kid are too difficult

downloaded the remastered devil may cry
holy shit I suck

Seconding Wind Waker, that game is legit timeless.

The story was always shit, but I'll still defend Custom Robo for having the most fucking fun local multiplayer ever, to this day. I would suck Kimishima's pixelated cock for a new one.

Spiderman (PS1)

Bomberman 64 got much better as an adult because I can actually figure out all the gold cards

I know how to make bridges/stairs as a kid but never knew the shit where you hit yourself in the head with a bomb and it knocks you on top of it somehow. I also didn't know you could press a button to make a bomb drop straight down, but that one's on me'

Wario World. It's sad we'll never have a creative and unique beat em' up like that ever again....Fuck my life.

the HD version of WW might be the best looking game ever made
its like playing an upgraded Miyazaki movie

San Andreas and dead rising are two

All megaman games but that's expected considering its one of, if not the, greatest franchises of all time.

Final Fantasy games

Crash and Spyro like others have said. Also the majority of SNES games as well as NES games.

Honestly the only major series that I used to love and doesn't hold up anymore is Kingdom Hearts and I think it's mainly because the story is so ridiculous and focused at kids.

Came to post this and Spyro

>tfw came back to a game I played and sucked at as a kid
>I'm a beast at it just by virtue of being older
And her name is Sparkster

Metal Gear Solid
The more I replay it the more I see how simple it is regarding gameplay design. It's just such an amazingly executed story with good characters and good pacing even during the backtracking missions I'm not bored. You're on the edge of your seat to save meryl the first time and when you have to get the different keycards the story builds up so much. Soundtrack is also nice.
I enjoy it even more with the german voices as I think some voice actors do a better job than their english counterparts.

It looks terrific. I wish Twilight Princess could have been prettied up a little more, but it's hard to make fine cheese with aged milk.

Japanese Contra from 88 with English subs

I wasn't really a kid back then, but Freelancer. It's amusing how long a game can last if it has no modern alternatives

Arcanum, Fallout, Majesty, GTA SA, Sierra published point and clicks

Paper Mario

I played metal gear solid again as an adult.
loved it and for the first time I was able to endure the torture.
years of fapping have built up muscle memory

I think the original Silent Hill also holds up really well. The blurry PlayStation graphics and very limited view distance go a long way in giving it this nightmarish/fever dream feeling that SH2 and 3 don't have.

yoshi's island is the perfect video game

>GTA SA
bruh

I feel you
>play racing games occasionally
>not very great at them, but at least ok
>get car license and start driving a real car
>now I suck at racing games for some reason

Who dat semen demon

Most of them. I had good luck and good taste as a kid.

Despite its flaws the first Metal Gear Solid still holds up well in my eyes.

>you get your ass kicked just as hard, if not harder

Anything from sixth gen consoles is still great.

>yfw it came out 12 years ago

>tfw didn't have any trouble with the button mashing QTE as a kid
You just sort of hold your index finger right up next to the button then flex your forearm really fucking hard and spaz on that button like there's no tomorrow

Like half of my Gamecube library.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

i never asked your mom her name, so i don't know.

>Megaman X
>Final Fight 2
>Metal Slug 1, X and 3
>Spin Master
>King of fighter 97
Still as good as i remember them

It's my favorite GTA, but it certainly did not withstand the test of time.

doom

One of my favourite games of all time

I'd fuck her soooooooooooooooooooooo hard

Gonna have to make you break that mom joke down, user. I don't think that makes any sense.

World of Warcraft

Oh okay. I thought you were calling that user underage for listing it as a game he played as a kid.

Hey, get in line

I feel like most games still hold up. Its more rare for the opposite to happen where you liked a game and its actually shit.

Only example for that I can think of is clayfighters 63 1/3

Ace Combat 2, Japanese Ace Combat 3 and Air Combat 22. Also Einhänder

it does make sense, you're just too stupid to get it.

Aladdin for the sega genesis

oh yeah the torture part was hell as a kid. I used to do it with the ruler "vibration" trick after a lot of failed attempts.

Funny story, during one of my failed attempts:
>lie down on the floor for a comfortable mashing position
>concentrate really hard and mash that button like no tomorrow
>mom walks in and sees me with a murder face spazing out on the floor while snake is getting tortured
>she thinks I'm concentrating really hard on torturing snake as much as possible not saving him

had to explain it at dinner later and we all laughed

>Guitar hero 2/3
>Kirby nightmare in dreamland
>Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors

This is truth

Played Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders in 2004 when I was 12. Still like it and play it occasionally.

The premise of your joke was that you fucked OP's mom as a kid. I find it highly unlikely that you would fuck her again as an adult without knowing her name. I'll give it a meh but it was pretty lazy.

I remember being ok at this as a kid, I wonder how good I'd be now

i never asked your mom her name either, how's that for a fucking premise?

little big adventure 2

0/10

>be 12
>go to op's house to play
>it's noon on a tuesday
>op's mom is already drunk
>end up fucking her while op plays sonic
>leave
>grow up
>go to college
>come home for thanksgiving
>out drinking
>run into op's mom
>ugh, she didn't age well
>awkward hello
>drunkenly tries to flirt with me
>leave skank alone
>get to be closing time
>struck out everywhere
>walking out of bar
>see op's mom hailing a cab
>offer her ride home
>end up fucking
>op still in basement playing sonic

plausible enough for ya?

XD u r reel funny

I'm picturing OP as Chris-chan so that made me chuckle.

Terranigma

Does is count as revisiting if I've never stopped playing it for 17 years?

Battlefront 2

Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Simpsons Hit & Run

Sonic adventure 2 Battle.
Terranigma.
Secret of Mana 1&2.
Golden Sun.
Perfect dark soso.
Chrono trigger.
Paper Mario, not TTYD.
Yoshi island.
Battletoads.

All kirby games.
Minish Cap, OOT not so much.

Fan translation for the 3DS remake soon my friend.

crash and spyro series on ps1

Replayed Earthworm Jim a few months ago. Haven't played it since it first came out on the Sega Genesis. The game was as awesome as I remember. Not as hard, because I recall it being brutal at some points as a kid.

Skyrim

Final fantasy tactics.

Recommend me some good trpg's while we are here.

Shes like 5 years old. Thats disgusting. She is adorable though. Is that like a real cartoon? I'd totally watch that.

sonic sega genesis games.

The original one

>games are still very fun
>still able to play them for hours without being bored

REWIND BETA WHEN?

All of them. I have amazing taste.

Dead Rising

Warioland 4.Really any warioland l game butb4 holds a special place in my heart.I found an extra copy on the playground at school and I was so friggin hyped.I told my sister later that day and she said 'That's cool but I got an n64 for free today!'.I would have been more butthurt if the 64 didn't eventually become mine later in life.

This game broke my graphics card. Fucking hell

This.

>no matter which methods I tried, I could never beat the second challenge of Mary Canary in BT
>beat her twice at the first try after playing it as an adult
It felt so good.

mega man x4

can always go back to that game from time to time and enjoy the fuck out of it

Bioshock Infinite

Donkey Kong GB

My brother from another mother.

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. It might be my favorite game of all time. The controls are still good, the atmosphere and environment/level design is just amazing, each NPC has a colorful personality, and it has great humor. I think a lot of the jokes went over my head as a kid, so replaying it as an adult was an equally satisfying experience in that regard. Such a fun game. If you like adventure games and/or platformers, you absolutely must download an N64 emulator and this game.

Urbz: Sims in the City (DS Version)

Phantasy Star Online still gets me going big time

CoD4

HoMM3

>Own Zelda NES at 8 years old
>Completely scared shitless because the world was so big and I didn't know what to do
>Don't play it for a whole nother 2 years
>Finally pick it back up, and brave through my cowardess beating the whole game with a little bit of help
>That overwhelming sense of accomplishment
This the roar of a man, hear me
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Spyro the Dragon

Jak and Daxter only the first one though

I can hand that game to anyone and they're bound to enjoy it, especially kids

Give me this over Mario Kart 64 any day.

Brave Fencer Musashiden. Its a Zelda game with rpg elements and a voiced protag. Play it at least once a year.

LV-scaled enemies?
Item permissions?
Reviving and Healing can and will fail?
The whole game mechanic aged like shit.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

Though I want to do the co-op with a friend, it's a damn pain having to find two spare GBA's with two GC adaptor cables. I wonder if emulation solves this problem

Resident Evil 1-3

>Banjo Kazooie/Tooie
>F-zero X
>Super Mario World
>Secret of Mana

Probably tons more, but I'm a lazy bastard.

Did that once to pass that Clover minigane on VLR's site
It worked pretty well

That too is my technique.
Beasted Mario Party that way
in the mashing minigames

Comes out in 2017 for Australia.

eiii lmao

Your thinking of Final fantasy tactics ADVANCED, which had the worlds worst system of penalty cards and shit.

Tatics itself was great and had a good fucking story line.

Thief.

It's even better now because I can pull of combos much more easily with a mechanical keyboard.

Donkey Kong Country 2

ssbm

Runescape. I came back to it last October for a lil nostalgia trip. Little did I know that it's actually a much more deep and fleshed out mmo than anyone gave it credit. After a good month, Deadman Mode came out, and since then, I've only unsubbed for one month. Been in every tourny, though I haven't won yet.

Iktf. I could never get far in Genesis sparkster as a kid bc I kept trying to play it exactly the same as the first Rocket Knight

> ctrl + F
> no Super Mario 64

wtf guys?

Landstalker

Mafia 1.

Heart of Darkness on PS1

Spyro 2 aged like a fine wine

You know you can pause during her challenge right

Vectorman 1 and 2 are games I still play to this day. They aged pretty well despite being on the Sega Genesis.

Both AC2 and AC3 still feel very fresh, while trying to replay Air combat feels like chewing glass

All Donkey Kong Country games

my nigga

Can't top this shit

I got this and Mario 64 when the n64 came out and always thought it to be the superior game. bold opinions, i know, but it just has so much more personality and the weeaboo in me made it perfect.

plus with a gameshark you could turn on levitate and infinite money and fly around with that yellow hair skill and shoot dbz fireballs

Yeah, but taking a break didn't help me either.

I don't even think it's even physically possible to outrun her from start to finish. To beat her you must go real slow and then mash A like a madman in the last corner of the race.

older cods, 1, uo and 2

and fucking pavlo's house, feels good beating what young me couldnt

Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix

war of the monsters is the only ps2 game that i still get itchings to play

GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME

Nostalgia has nothing to do with this laced shit

Playing Warcraft 2 right now. Having all of the fun

that game was so ahead of its time and those fucking natural disasters OMG, just perfection.

There are almost no games I enjoyed as a kid which I don't enjoy as much, or far more, having replayed them as an adult.
Hell, a lot of the time I find myself loving a game I didn't like as a kid, like the NES Zeldas or Metroid II.

It would be much easier for me to list games I enjoyed as a kid which I now think are bad.
>Donkey Kong 64
That's the list.

The Warriors

Vanilla WoW

Custom Robo was pretty good; that final boss was bullshit though.

HD looks worse than the original. It gets rid of cel shading which was key to the art style, and the bloom is totally fucking absurd at times.

The majority of games I played as a kid.
The one that surprised me the most when replaying it is probably Star Fox 64. It's a very impressive game.

Final fantasy legend 2

mother fcking burned copy of Broodwars on a scratched CD-R.

I hate that they changed the controls for wwhd. They're terrible now

not necessarily as a kid but whatever

>Only mention in the thread

This game is the epitome of old shit holding up ridiculously well.

>Prisoner of Azkaban

>Kingdom Hearts
>Kingdom Hearts II

>Resident Evil 4
>Resident Evil: Survivor
>Resident Evil: Dead Aim

>Final Fantasy VII
>Final Fantasy X

Star fox 64

I still wish there was something else like it that wasn't a remake or shitty reboot.

>the greatest Super Mario game ever made

Well it's no surprise you still love it.

But user, Star Fox 64 is a game like Star Fox 64 that is a remake or reboot.

Parasite Eve II is one of my favorite games and I replayed it a couple times recently.

Still fun.

Super Mario RPG At least once a year
AoEII
Starcraft
Genesis Sanic

Half-Life.

Seriously, it's even better than when I remember as a kid. I'm now going fast, shotgunning grunts and ayys in the face while droppin nades everywhere.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I always play throught it once a year.

BiS is a good second, but aside from that, the other M&L games never really clicked for me.

Battletoads (nes)
Battletoads & Double Dragon (nes)
Robocop 3 (this one: youtu.be/7FILe8utwVU it's all thanks to the fuckawesome music)
Tiny Toon Adventures
SMB3 (duh)
Chip & Dale 2 (first one is good but the second has the best music)
Crash 1 - 3
Tombi
MGS
Alien: Resurrection (PSX)

SpongeBob SquarePants Movie Game. Just played it recently the power up system is great, it's easy but such a fun game still to this day.

2 is the peak, but 3 is great as well.

Woah, you mean those attacks with weird inputs where she yells cheesy anime names?

I thought most of those were shit compared to the simple and plain punches and kicks.

...

Red Alert 2.

fuck sony for not making another one in so long. If they want me to buy a ps4 I need Ape Escape 4. Anyone play Millions Monkeys? I never tried it out.

It's not a "when I was a kid" thing but I've played tf2 since overwatch came out and boy that game holds up like a dream.

>Custom robo
You are and forever shall be mah nigga. Custom robo had some of the most fun combat and multiplayer in an arena style game. So many ways to combine tactics and weapon styles. Wish Nintendo would revive it.

Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country 2
Banjo Tooie
DK 64(fuck you naysayers)
Paper Mario
Ape Escape

No I mean the back->side->kick or back->front->kick.
And the "cheesy" ones aren't shit because they can break defense.

I remember loving the story when I rented it from blockbuster but I imagine it's just a generic anime rpg story. When gamestop was getting rid of all their gamecube games I managed to get a copy of custom robo for a few dollars.

This

Story is decent and has a surprising twist or two but is presented in generic anime way.

yeah something about it from a nostalgia standpoint made it feel like a grand adventure. I remember using action replay to get all the parts.

Spider-Man on PS1, I play that shit every year. It was the first game I ever owned.

Practically every SNES jrpg is still playable today.

Megaman X

Perfect Dark.

Congo's Caper. Still one of my favorite SNES games.

The Spyro trilogy.
Original Zoo Tycoon with expansions.

Played both within the last 12 months. So good.

NFL Street 2.
Tried that shit again as an adult and now I'm able to actually gain yardage and score against Gamebreakers if I'm not being completely retarded.

Both Flintstones games on NES

Vicd City is still a 10/10 last time i checked

Radiata Stories

For me, it definitely has to be Devil May Cry 3.

That game is cash!

vanilla wow

Bully

I dunno what it is about that game. It doesn't have all that much content, but I just keep going back. It's such a good game to fuck around in and the overworld is one of the best ever made.

Anybody got the video for the OP? The one that says PS3 has no games at the end?

Project I.G.I! This shit is garbage af, but it's still awesome.

Dead Rising.

Hell yeah Ape Escape still holds up, I got a US version of it though to play on emulator and the voice acting is shit compared to the EU one

Monkey Island.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Maniac Mansion.
Prince of Persia.

Vice City, loved it as a kid because reasons, and now I listen to the radio and it's 10x better.
Played VCS recently and it wasn't as great but still really good.

Majoras Mask. Mega Man 2. Super Mario World. Kirby Air Ride. Metroid Prime. Super Solvers Gizmos And Gadgets.

Starfox 64

With the procontroller, yes. With the gamepad, it's much better

Only thing that doesn't hold up is the graphics. That gameplay tho

Pokémon Emerald

Halo 3. It came out when I was 9 years old and it's so good. Best Halo game for sure. Way better than poopy Halo 5.

Operation Wolf

Mah fucking nigga.

Banjo Kazooie/Tooie

Both games are excellent.

I remember beating the fuck out of that game. I need to find a copy.

Link's Awakening. Pretty much have the entire game memorised but it's still fun. The slow and repetitive dialogue boxes are really fucking annoying though, good thing there's frame skipping on emulators.

Same, but it's Total Annihilation for me.

Castlevania iv

Also Wind Waker.

Super Mario Sunshine was also a big one in this category for me.

Yoshi's Island SNES

Chapters 1-4 are literal perfection, I just hate the Yoshi kids segment in 5, but then it picks back up in the volcano.

The original Digimon World.

It's certainly not amazing, but it's still pretty enjoyable. I feel like I learn something new every time I come back.

Dude, this shit caught me completely off-guard as a kid. I spent so much time on this game.

dead rising still pretty fun and scary/creepy at times

These aged like a tasty wine

DK64 on the Wii U. I like buying all the old games I liked on the Wii U. Are they going to be attached to my account from now on now that I bought them? I had bought some of them for the Wii.

It'd be cool if I could play them on every new Nintendo console or I can redownload them whenever I want.

Mega man battle network 3

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect

I played ega/cga in my childhood, nothing holds.

I remember doing that, whole arm hurt like a bitch after.

Not really as a kid but I replayed bioshock again after playing it when it came out in 08. It's a lot better than I remember it being. Definitely become one of my favourite single player FPSs. Also makes infinite that much worse.

paper mario

Still the greatest fuckin game i've ever played

Baseball stars 2 on neogeo.
Arcade games in general also.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

GW1 is kicking my ass.

Oh fuck I have to rewatch that episode.

Contra Hard Corps

Unlocking all endings was the best

Super Mario RPG

I still have no idea what I'm doing when selecting level up bonuses.

Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Warcraft 3

The problem with GW 1 is that some areas require a competent team to beat. There's no fucking way you can beat Domain of Anguish with just heroes for example, unless you get mercenary hero pack x8 and just spam spirits and even then, you do risk fucking up and getting your shit pushed in quite easily.

Tyrian

This was the first game to teach me that length isn't everything. It was pure quality despite being such a short ride. Easily my favorite Wario game after Land 3.

Hope you bought the newest game, you good-taste cunt.

The Sly Cooper games. The first one is a bit antiquated now but the other two hold up perfectly.

Did you play donkey Kong?

Sonic 3 and Knuckles

yeah, I'm becoming casual and lazy, games that demand 100% attention or you die or lose start to seem just not fun

but ofc this also comes from me having less energy than normal person (I have brain of depressed person even thought I feel better now than 5y ago)

maybe you are too careful on racing

Banjo Tooie

While I prefer the HD remasters, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie hold up extremely well today.

It would be more surprising if you suddenly decided you hated a game with hindsight

My boys

Supra Mayro Cuntshine

fuck the HD texture packs and the headache of getting the game to run well on dolphin ( I know all the patches and every trick) It still feels better just to pop it in my Homebrew wii, apply widescreen hack and have a go od time.

That game is fucking good.

It's still a pretty solid game.

Super Mario Sunshine, but honestly. Any Mario game still holds up today except Mario 64 only due to the not-well-aged graphics unless emulated.

is that jfk assassination simulator still out there somewhere?

i played the shit out of that.

How was this compared to Alundra?

Such games as Chrono Nigger and Suikoden 2 are timeless to me.

Melee

For me it's Final Fantasy IX. Every bit as magical as when I was a kid.

I'm replaying Sly 2, and my only two complaints are that the missions are kind of repetitive, and it's not punishing enough when you get caught.

Hello

ctrl + F'd this just to see if anyone was as cool as me.
I am pleased

Tetris

I replayed MGS back in September for the first time in I cannot remember how long ago and I was genuinely shocked at how well it still played

Unfortunately Trigger didn't hold up for me, the characters were too geared for kids.

Cross at least had characters that spoke like normal human beings. Game was a blast last month as well, after 9 years of not playing.

Arcanum is trash, my man
The best part of the game begins and ends with the character creation

Starfox 64

All of these, with the exception of MK6

Zeonic Front, damn I wish they'd try their hands at making another gundam sim tactics game. Only game I've ever completed to 100% twice.

Mega Man Legends

final fantasy tactics

the game is turbo easy when you know how and when to grind but holy shit its so comfy and fun

Sonic Adventure 2

I'm the biggest halo fanboy around but no. CE's campaign has so many issues just due to the time it was made and the hardware it was on.

It's not bad, and it's still fun, but it's so much more flawed and tedious then every other halo game's campaign

You'd be just as good as you we're. Ninja Gaiden will destroy you. Body and soul.

... and Contra for NES is my pick.

This needs a rerelease

1080 avalanche

Still good

Same. Love Chrono Cross with my heart and soul. No other game had the same type of atmosphere, none.

ZEUS and POSEIDON

Everything about it is extra comfy. Right down to the voice actors.

I can't play it as much though as I pretty much played the game for well over a decade.

Absolutely fucking fantastic game.

I should play it again. Wonder how well it emulates.

the first two games are still fucking GOAT, I replay them from time to time and they don't really feel that old (G1 is from 2001, G2:NotR english release was in 2005)

third is still a turd. I even tried replaying it (community patch and all) a few months ago, dropped it after two hours.

>The story was always shit

How is it shit? You talk to toys and meet aliens and shit and solve the world energy crisis, it's a cute story

Pokemon tcg for gameboy if I were to name one off the top of my head.

One hand, nigga
ONE HAND, NIGGA

Majora's mask for me, had so much fun replaying it on the 3ds

games don't age, they play exactly the same as they did when they were released

It was completely opposite for me. I enjoyed Trigger far more than Cross, and I've beaten Trigger for the first time a couple of days ago. Cross is full of ridiculous accents where everyone speaks as if they're pseudo french, pseudo german or pseudo australian with a surfer looking doctor that calls everyone "Dude". And Trigger had plenty of characters geared around adults, like Magus or Lucca as well as the entire far future sequence which was a dramatic tone shift.

...

>play Blast Corps for the first time in 15~16 years
>beat Diamond Sands on my first try
>mfw
Honestly one of the most hyped up moments I've had playing video games in I don't even know how long. Fuck you dump truck.

Both Goemon games for the N64. Holy christ those games are still good.

Forever gave me a hard on for night time city environments.

This. I'd rather get stuck with a snes then n64 any day.

Rollercoaster Tycoon and motherfuckin Dark Forces II

Bernd and the mystery of the underalterbach

Why were those damn spiderman games so great? I played 2 and 3 to completion.

Everything on the Amiga. That shit is forever, particularly Shadow of the Beast. The re-make had better never happen.

starcraft brood war

What was so bad about the re-make?

>minimal shitposting
>actual discussion and positivity
Cred Forums can be a nice place.

Also I'm surprised nobody posted Kirby Super Star or Air Ride (Though it only holds up if you're part of the 20% who liked it to begin with..)

Soul Reaver

I like you.

This. I love every about that game. The sounds, the aesthetics, the music and how it changes, the bleakness of the world itself due to engine and design alike. And the voice acting of course.

No Mans Sky part 2

>that comfy as fuck ice land chapter

Most of Cred Forums is too young to have played any games here they could shitpost about.

That game was great

>Final Fantasy V
>Fable TLC
>FF: Tactics Advance
I can see all their flaws as an adult, but I'm still able to enjoy the fuck out of them like I did as a kid

Donkey Kong Country

This.
Plus FF IX, LoK: soul reaver, LoD, FF tactics, Mario 3, LoZ: ocarina of time.

Still my favorite games. I play them all at least once every 2 years and all of them are still fucking magnificent.

This.
I first got this game when I was five, maybe? It was one of three N64 games I had, and by far my favorite. Only problem was, I was a total pussy. I'd play through the first two minutes of gameplay, fight the three enemies and encounter the first boss. That three eyed giant skeleton and his howl of terror scared the shit out of me, and every time that cutscene started with him bashing through the gate I'd nearly piss myself as I ran over to the N64 and mashed the reset button. I'd play that intro sequence dozens of times a day.
I picked it up again months ago and man, was I missing out. Overall still very solid storytelling, doesn't overdo it and the gameplay is still mostly solid.
The literal cliffhanging mechanic though, it's just SO bad!

First two Paper Marios

Pokemon Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald

Crash and Spyro PS1 Trilogies

Hell yeah. As a kid I didn't know about Data being the method of saving so I'd usually play up to the digging boss before dying and getting kicked back to the beginning.

>republic commando
>battlefront 2

>Battle for Middle Earth 2 came out 10 years ago.

Sonic CD

Out of all the well know cart racers, MK64 was inferior to both DKR and CTR.
(I prefer CTR over DKR, but I respect and understand why people dig DKR more)

Half-Life

Started it over from the beginning on a fresh save in the second slot, played it all the way through. Remembered where most of the gold gems were, but a few eluded me so I looked them up. Still a very solid platformer with interesting mechanics.

Ty The Tasmanian Tiger for me. Only the first one, though.

Oddworld, Syphon Filter, Medievil Super Wario Land 2 and Spyro

I feel like both Sparkster games were a step down or away from what made the original Rocket Knight Adventures great. The Genesis one was alright despite how different it was, but the SNES one was just plain frustrating, like they took the original game and replaced all the well designed segments with classic Konami bullshit artificial difficulty. Music direction also wasn't as good in either game.
Always a shame when the first game is so good that the sequels look bad in comparison.

Metroid Prime 2

Age of Empires: 2
Warcraft 3
Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey
Legend of Dragoon

...

all thps 1 - thug 2

This. I used to breeze through the megaman zero games I emulated, with just my keyboard. Now even with a controller I'm getting my asshole reamed by basic bitch enemies.

Skies of Arcadia

Heroes of might and Magic 3
Diablo 2 LoD

Streets of Rage 2. If anything I appreciate the OST a lot more as an adult. Shit is catchy.

Should be considered required reading for anyone who enjoys puzzle platformers. My only gripe is that Iv been spoiled by bigger screens and backlights for so long I found it hard to go back to my original copy. Still plays tight as fuck, loads of moves you have almost right off the bat but it eases new players into each one over the course of the game. Getting all the collectibles and a good time adds an extra layer of challenge for those who want it. Seriously if you are a fan of the genre your doing yourself a disservice by not giving this a try

Thief 1 + 2

I just bought T2 on Steam since it was 80% off and I never had a real disk for it. I'm gonna go play some fan campaigns/missions soon. It's up there with UO, DN3D, and WC3 in terms of old as fuck games still having an active community, and still producing content.

and I'm a person who thinks 99% of old games age like milk.

I seriously have no fucking idea how I managed to beat Megaman X when I was a kid.

The original was a pretty basic and not particularly distinct action platformer with top tier level design and set pieces, and pretty solid boss fights. It feels very much like a Treasure game.

Both sequels seem to be under the impression that what made RKA so exceptional was that it had a rocket pack, when in reality the rocket pack was used very sparingly in RKA. The vast majority of the time it was totally optional, and usually inferior to just swinging your sword.
Everything in the Sparksters is about using your rocket pack to navigate and interact with the world, which, since it's so fast (especially in SNES) leads to running into off-screen shit frequently. This is why they are frustrating, I think.
The content simply isn't as good or well balanced in the Sparksters, either.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth

Tenchu 3: Wrath of Heaven

Mah ninja! This game will hold a special place in my heart until I die.I want and I-Ninja 2 so fucking bad it hurts.
