I used to play Dofus. Had nearly 6 years of sub time in that MMO. Play Wakfu now since it's free to play. I'd say Dofus is superior though.

Wakfu was a pretty fun MMO at first, but holy god did they fuck it up.

It had a lot of stuff going for it, but a lot of flaws. Instead of improving the good parts of the game that were good, they just added in a bunch of WoW shit that they thought would get them more money.

Things like dailies, opt-in PVP, tiny amounts of EXP for exploring, and getting money when you kill enemies.

When the game first came out, there was literally no way to get money besides mining and minting it yourself, which was SUCH an interesting concept. In other MMOs, money is like, "Pff, whatever, here's ten zillion gold" but in Wakfu, 1 Kama was worth everything.

Wakfu was so great as a sandbox MMO, until they thought that was too ballsy so they tried to make it into WoW (which didn't work).

Many other problems with the game, I moved onto other sandbox MMOs.

I would like to seem them tackle another genre for a potential next game.

I just started playing Dofus touch for the android. So far I like the idea of playing it on my mobile device, but the skill acquisition is very linear and it makes me a little unhappy. Netflix has the original series of Wakfu in addition to the sequel mini-series. It plays the terrible dub by default, but you can change the language to French with English subs, which is much better.

There's also a fully fan-subbed torrent out there. Try KAT or TPB.

I enjoyed the anime and that made me interested in the game.
Similarly, I haven't seen the Dofus anime and have no interest in the game.

Seriously, playing as a Feca in a team is making ground a minefield for everyone while doing mediocre damage and buffs that rarely matter, monsters are smart enough to never fall into traps or trick them into activating buffs so there's really no way to force it on them.

Dofus is pretty cool in the sense that itemization is much more in depth. Wakfu removed set bonuses for some reason.

Wakfu literally has a persistent environment (until the servers is reset through maintenance). So if you kill all the monsters or harvest all the resources in a specific area, they won't respawn.

Wakfu is a lot more instanced. You can't get to other parts of the world unless you take a boat which just teleports you there.

Maybe in pvp. But it's pretty shit in pve. All these new dimension monsters hit too much. It's easier to just pick a nuke class instead and kill the monster faster,

That has always been the best option. Support, aside from Eni, and stat raping is pretty shit in Dofus. Pushback is a guaranteed position modifier and grants the loss of MP by making the monster in question use it to get closer again. MP raping doesn't always work even in low level and the amount you can take is miserable to say the least.

Basically none of the end game content is remotely viable for the average player unless they pick a cookie cutter class.

I grew up playing the game. I started a while before Rosal was opened. Then moved there and played there until 2.0 after which I kind of quit.

Was a lovely game. Most of the people there were cool too. Lots of interesting ideas.

Experienced players with low tier classes can't do shit anyway. Try any end game content with Feca and Fogger, for example. Heck, any class with Feca as the second slot might as well be playing alone since we can't do shit.

My only issue with Dofus is that I don't want to pay the subscription.

From the tab with the party slots, you'll see icons for each character and sidekick you have. You click on the sidekick you want to add to the party.

Note that you have to assign a leader first. There's a button on the top right for that.

Yea they are. I'm fine with them listening to the french player base when it comes to balancing things. But the international player base has been completely ignored. They don't do any advertising so when a server inevitably dies, they won't offer free server transfers to a more populated server. So what happens is 80% of the dead server will simply quit, while the remaining 20% will shell out extra sheckels ontop of their monthly sub fee to move.

I'm actually considering downloading the game to see how far it's come since I last played it but I know for sure I'm going to quit an hour in.

Me and my brother still play the game with muted music and keep this playing in the background.
It was so fucking annoying back then but after a while it became nostalgic since it makes us remember the good times.

It's almost hard to believe how Ankama manages to take three steps back every time they take a step forward. Even now, they changed the design of the layout for something a bit cleaner that uses the blank space of the widescreen pcs to the fullest, yet this shit is brimming with bugs that shouldn't even exist at this point. Also, classes keep getting changed just because.

Never got a chance to play Dofus, but I played Wakfu two years ago, played with some chill Riktus guild which was full of people helping others.
Their GM had a few alts with haven bags open to guild, filled to the brim with high-level pants, trees, etc. And crafting tables.
I became the autist who keps mining day in and day out, making massive profit for the guild and getting materials for screws.
Thinking back on it, it would've been more fitting for me to play as en Enutrof rather than Osamodas.
Shame that the guild slowly died as the updates made the games worse.

I do love both games but it has it's problems such as if you don't have actual friends to play with, everyone is mostly anti-social due to how easy it is to just multi-box and play by yourself. Wakfu suffers due to Tot being a retard and doing radical changes constantly to the game and wonders why people keep quitting. Dofus was fucked by 2.0, can't say much more than that.

With all of this said some of my most fun ever in MMOs was on Wakfu with the general due to how social everyone was and not in an autistic was like other Cred Forums general, it was actually nice to be a part of a community again.

You mainly come to Wakfu/Dofus for the artstyle and animation and stay for the Tactics gameplay. If anything they can just literally port the MMO to consoles, allow for more customized looking characters and have party members like FF Tactics or Disguyugh where they can be any class, etc and have a randomized dungeon aspect to keep fighting infinetly harder enemies.

Dofus/Wakfu is KNOWN for its gameplay. Change that and you'd get commercial failures like their other attempts.
Also they can't make single player games because their target audience didn't play for the lore in the first place, they played solely because of the gameplay. In other countries, it became known through comics and episodes, but in France, it gained its audience steadily through the years. Most of Dofus and Wakfu players don't even know anything about the lore. They just play because their friend told them to.

The biggest problem with Dofus is that you need more players willing to go through the same boring crap as you to go to dungeons or quests and get good items. Also, there's close to nothing you can buy from the game itself, they changed the game so that every fucking resource has to be dropped and all that you find for sale is put there by actual players. At first it may not sound so bad but when you have strong people controling the market and making low level items cost absurdly high prices there's just no way you can go further. Aside from that, most gear is really hard to craft since it needs shit tons of materials from places no one wants to visit again, it's hard, boring just getting there and then the actual fights can get really complicated, specially if you're not a specific class (Iop).
Most high level players have and pay for multiple accounts to fill a full team and play like that to get where they want, problem is that doesn't work for everyone since they also restrict access to servers based on your country of residence. I can't make a new character on the same server as my old one because of that, which is blatantly stupid. French fries have access to almost all servers.

Since the high level players all have teams of their own no one will be willing to help you out and you'll end up alone, not able to make any end game progress because no one gives a shit. Also, since the teams are already made by the players themselves no one uses the dungeon team function which was supposed to find people interested in doing the same dungeon, so it's all bare and not working.
It's stupid, tedious and they don't care enough to fix that, they even support players using multiple accounts.

They're both side scrollers but Dust has a better emphasis on the RPG elements, Wakfu/Dofus is about classes and their spells/specality, in Dragon's Shit you literally mindlessly spam attack regardless of characters becuase there's no depth. With Dust there's a minor magic system but even then that's more indepth already since you can combine it with your moveset. I only said Dust because it was the first sidescroller to come to mind with beautiful animation and art (eh...maybe not for the character portraits) that can do Wakfu/Dofus' amazing artstyle and animation justice. What's the point of having a sidescroller at all when you're a fucking Eni or Huppermage hitting things with your fist like an Iop regardless?

It was really nice when there was a level cap set around 120.
XP was different. It wasn't the eternal grindfest it is nowadays. You'd take on a group with two friends/people twice your combined level, had a fucking tense fight, and ended up with a quarter of your level done.
But yeah, it's absolutely not the kind of game you'd enjoy alone. Bedt option is to join a guild, but you'd have 50% chance of it being filled with 15 year olds.

The game was mainly played by french people, this is probably the first time I see people actually talking about Dofus and not Wakfu on Cred Forums.

Anyway Dofus is a very different game now, they added a lot of shit like "challenges" to get xp bonus so people can level their characters as fast as possible (with the help of high level players you can now get a character up to level 200 in a few months as opposed to years compared to back in the 1.29 version),
because the game is much more focused on the end-game, and a lot people only play it for PvP while trying to copy each other's build.
Getting in a big guild/alliance can give you huge advantages for loot and prisms (prisms allow you to teleport around the map so you don't have to spend money for zaaps) and players can attack them, so you gotta be as overpowered as possible for 8vs8 battles that can last for a while.

It's been very long since I last played this game tho so maybe it's a bit different today, it's a shame Ankama doesn't make more english speaking servers, it's the only thing that would make me go back to play this game, fuck playing with french normies and kids, and fuck playing alone.

Even with challenges, getting XP rushed by a high level character is tedious as fuck. I remember countless hours waiting for some 140 dude to kill groups of retarded pandas. Once the group was done, it was just more of the same. And after 3-5 hours of the same crap, you gained a level.

But I enjoyed farming wheat for some reason. It felt somewhat comfy, with a nice relaxing playlist or a movie on the 2nd screen.

I played alone on Rushu for 6 years. Never got to 200 because I kept switching builds and classes but when masqeraider came out I finally got to 17X with an 15X alt Enu.

Best mmo i ever played, loved it so much back then but at some point I just didn't have time to play and when I tried to get back it was all fucked up. ( Only hit once with weapons (twice with daggers), max AP and Mp limits are crazy.

Farming and fishing was pretty comfy, now the fields are fucking SWARMED with bots devastating everything in a matter of seconds at any time of the day, Akama know about this but i'm pretty sure they don't ban them all because the people who put the bots have to pay to subscribe them in order to access the biggest fields that are in subscribed areas.

It was pretty funny and exciting to do, now it's pointless since you're just gonna get facerolled by a few lvls 200, and people won't come with you because just you being here is a waste of a slot thus a certain death.

Not to mention the centaur itself can probably kill you on his own if it's a big guild.

It would be neat to have alternate servers for the 1.29 version, but that would be counter productive considering all the time and effort they spent in their fucking 2.0 version.

"All-Human cast" is a waste of potential originality. Sure, beast races are seen in a lot of games, but they still add something to the game that a regular human race (Or in our case, human with cat ears) can't.
Enutrofs, Pandawas, and Dofus Srams are looking different enough to not label them as "Generic Human".

Kickstarters don't work that way. A kickstart last from x to y, and during that time only can people back it. Once the day x arrives, and if the kickstarter project has the amount of money OR more than it had set as the requirement, they'll get the dosh and the backers eventually get their gifts, based on how much money they threw at the monitor.

Some Kickstarters work in such a way that you can "upgrade" your backer tier after the initial run, but I could also be confusing it with Indiegogo.

To be fair, they made the game really accessible with their different payment options and their cheap prices, at least for my country that is. Most other games based on suscriptions don't even realize how expensive their games can be for people who don't use dollars.

Actually it shouldn't even be hard to make since it's a simple design and all you need is a few LEDs to make the light inside the helmet.

Try it out on a small model, test on it so you can know if the light does not hurt your eyes while still filling the circles. Test the size and shape and after all that is done you can proceed to a more advanced and perfected model. Maybe even 3D print it seeing how simple the actual shape is.

For NA they've made it extremely tedious and awkward, they disallow payment via Paypal or via credit/debit card. You have to buy a cash card of specific places like a Burger King or Subway card then buy using said card. Only recently were you allow to use Steam wallet to buy shit but thats only for packs and theyve ruined packs since, if you want orgines and subs and shit you HAVE to buy a fucking prepaid cash card.

Do a cardbox model the size of your head. For a first try and trials it should be perfect even for beginner level. They only have good artists, their programmers and engine are complete shit

They tried to both streamline and diversify the stats by splitting it into single target, AoE, Ranged and Close Combat. Element is still there but generally the specific ones give better stats. Single Target and AoE are self explanatory, the game determines what is or isn't close combat by any spell cast on an enemy within 2 tiles, any further is considered ranged and not CC. This all depends on what class you are and if their kit can support CC, AoE or both. Ecaflip can be both and since I'm mostly earth/water with fire for utility I went for CC and single target damage since the graceful feline spell really buffs CC and feline leap. You can easily flip this and go for ranged and AoE if you use three cards since that's one of earth's best spells right now. Hoped this helped

You can buy a sex and appearance change potion from the ogrine shop or buy one for like a million kamas from the market if there's even one there. Apparently they gave one out as a present since the last time I've played since I had one in my pending gifts tab so check that too if your character is old

There's only Aux Tresors de Kerubim and the movie for Dofus. Presumably there are going to be more movies instead of a cartoon series.

Not the same format as the Wakfu series, but it's still pretty entertaining. This one focuses on Kerubim, the white cat who shows up in Wakfu alongside Joris. He tells stories of his life to a young Joris, so it's mostly told in flashbacks. I'd say to give it a watch to see if you like it.

Actually and unironically performing progress rollbacks as a fix for the previous duping problem, with some servers getting a complete month of rollback
Absolute failure to give adequate compensation for these insane rollbacks

Making the hero system subscription based on top of the premium subscription
Refusal to listen to the outcry of players outside of France, to the point of outright lying about real problems being non-existent and impossible

I've tried it out a couple times in the years since but there have been so many changes that I have no idea what's going on anymore.

I found the characters of Dofus to be way more likable over Wakfu. The movie is fucking great too, the animation is 10/10.
