I played the demo at Gamescom. I don't see the appeal. I mean, I'm all for bringing back ATB, but everything around it needs to be good too, whereas this is some lame Dragon Quest Monsters rip-off, guest starring PreCure pets and KH characters.

None of the FF characters are playable. Best you get a them as summons. Vivi is in WoFF.

This is one of the only JRPG/Strategy JRPG releases this year. Final Fantasy XV was delayed for over a decade, and now there is VR support, which makes people question the November release date.

I'd be fine with it if FF fans were the target audience. They aren't, it's supposed to be a game introducing non-fans to the series, which according to you, it fails at. So the fanservice is pretty much all actual fans will get out of it. Anyone else would be better off with a more accomplished monster RPG, or just playing a mainline title.

It's meant to be played by anyone into RPG. It has FF characters and some winks and nods to things (like seeing Terra riding one of those war machines). But their history doesn't seem to be in the game. They are there for FF fans to just smile at. But if you don't know them to can play it fine. Doesn't seem like Kingdom Hearts where you are literally thrown in their world and playing out the movies.
