Are there any game franchises where this is true?

Are there any game franchises where this is true?

Darksouls

Lots of people feel that way about Spyro. I'm personally 2>1>3.
I've met a lot of folks who suggest that for Halo. I'm a bit too partial to my spoopy though.
I think this could apply to the music in the original Sonic Games.

Fight my opinion, I guess.

The Elder Scrolls

GTA

Classic resident evils.

Donkey Kong Country series.

Crash Bandicoot

Fight me

...

Super Mario Bros.
Sonic.
Street Fighter

2 is best

it's subjective, but this is MGS for me.
1 is still great, but I like 2 and 3 better

Realest answer.

Half-Life

user, slow down and read the name of the thread.

No.
3 is one of the weaker titles in the series, if anything it just took what was an element in two and stretched that into a game.

Ratchet and Clank

Fallout

This.

Fallout
Deus Ex
Thief
Hitman
Civilization
Command&COnquer

Mount & Blade

Metal Gear Solid
Mega Man

Spyro and Crash are the only two franchises that come to mind where this is applicable.

>CTRL+F "witcher"
>no results
wow

Spyro for PSX

MOTHER

I agree, I too think New Vegas was really damn good.

Although I'd tie it with 2.

Every franchise based on jontron opinion

Metal Gear Solid is 3 > 1 > 2 for me, but that's not a popular opinion around these parts.
I agree with you on Mega Man.

Etrian Odyssey
Rune Factory

Gears of War

What is jontron?

Witcher
1>3>2

Warcraft

>Morrowind
>Better than Daggerfall

Try adding the numbers by 2 next time.

>3>2>1
>fallout

tw1 was borderline unplayable

Ratchet and Clank PS2.

I guess you could argue that GC is better than UYA, but I think many people would say UYA is the best.

>2 being better than anything
lol

Uncharted, SOCOM, Resistance, Little Big Planet

Forgot to add you need to reverse the operators.

Tekken

I don't get why Cred Forums likes 2 so much. Is it because of memes, or is it due to the higher concentration of week shit? It's not bad, but pretty much everywhere else 1>2.

Unplayable, no. Boring combat, yeah.

Metal Gear Solid and Gears of War

...

Genesis Sonic.

>not Ripto's Rage

Metroid.

more like boring everything

*Weeb shit

Borderlands

2 3 4 1 5

Debatably Timesplitters.

The Elder Scrolls.

Etrian Odyssey

>Borderlands 3
??????

Super Mario Bros

Persona

Only objetive answer itt so far

Simcity

I guess he counts the Pre Sequel as 3?

It objectively builds upon and improves on the core mechanics and adds tons of build variety for pvp.

Super Mario Bros.

No, I meant 3.

Prime series as well

le pre-se-quel xDDD

If you reversed the arrows maybe, 2 and pre-sequel are tedious grindfests in comparison to 1, not to mention how much worse the writing is.

Forza Horizon

Sonic Advance Trilogy - Sonic Advance 3 was my favorite even with all it's flaws that are complain about.

It's not easy being wronger than this.

Halo in relation to the multiplayer

at least until MGS4 everybody hated 2 and hated especially Raiden. It only got popular recently and nobody knows why. Maybe 4 and 5 have led mgs into a direction that now makes 2 fit better into the overall franchise.

I still share's opinion. Hunting animals was too fun.

Wow. I didn't think there was anyone out there who would agree with me on that. The Witcher 1 was pretty damn broken at times, but there was so much goddamn heart in that game. Loved it

Shin Megami Tensei I guess

>fire and sword
>better than warband

...

Star Ocean
I'll grab my coat

BR spread

I honestly think it's because many overrate the concept and underrate the execution.
The whole concept behind MGS2 is brilliant, but the end result is all but coherent enough to justify the level of praise it gets around these parts. In part I think it's because some things got lost in the translation, if I remember correctly it was made during an era where Konami was transitioning to handle all of their translation efforts in-house, and I personally feel MGS2 and ZoE2 (especially) suffered. But in a larger part I just don't think it's cohesive enough of an experience, say what you will about the less "meta", more traditional approach of Metal Gear Solid 3. To me, it's still a better written and more brilliantly designed game that offers up more interesting challenges and characters.

ezpz

Mass Effect is objectively 3 > 2 > 1

warcraft

Bannerlord>Warband(dlc/addon)>Demo

Persona

Suikoden

If by 3 you mean New Vegas then I would agree, although I think it's only slightly better than 2.

Smash Brothers tourney fags don't apply

This guy gets it

>implying DMC2 is better than DMC1

It's Bannerlord > Warband > the very first one

Heroes of Might and Magic
Gothic fight me
Warlords Battlecry
Max Payne

these don't count nerds
Bannerlord is #2 in the series, Warband was essentially just an expansion/remaster of M&B

ratchet and clank?

The GBA Fire Emblem trilogy

Uncharted but tasteless plebs will disagree.

oh if we're doing it like that then the PS2 Ace Combat trilogy counts too

Silent Hill

I won't be surprise this is shitpost central.

Mass Effect.

Mechanics can make up for otherwise boring games.

If you count the DLCs, then I'd say you could count Warband as a standalone game.

Toilet Simulator > Shit >>>>>>>>>> any Uncharted game

then Bannerlord is #6 and WFAS is #3

Mario Party
Metal Slug
God of War (I found 3 more fun than 2)

pokemon

>it's subjective
sure, but the point is finding something on which the majority agrees.

Seiken Densetsu 3 > Seiken Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana) > Seiken Densetsu (Final Fantasy Adventure/Mystic Quest)

monster hunter

Fire and Sword is a spinoff.
There was even supposed to be Fire and Sword 2:Caribbean or something like that, but who the fuck knows what happened with it.

Fuck no.

for me halo is
CE=2>reach>ODST>3>garbage>5>shit>4

Resident Evil

Holy shit saying 2 is better than 1 should be a crime.

I think Sony didn't want Capcom to call it a side story or something like that so they called it 3.

Smash bros
Dragon Quest 1-3
DKC
Super Mario Bros
Trauma Center

>vanilla copy of a 2D game
>hard as balls (respectively) with more bosses overall
>linear but more action-based with several 1v1 boss fights and best visual design of the series

Oh you gon get it nao boi.

>objectively

Half you faggots use this word like it's going to be the end all be all of the argument and you don't even use it right.

Megaman Battle Network.

You're objectively a faggot, user

Mass Effect
Mafia
Fallout
Dragon Age
Battlefield
Donkey Kong Country
Max Payne
Uncharted
Doom
Resident Evil
Mortal Kombat
and so on

Faggot

Nice bait

Get the fuck out of here. Two thirds of that list is dead-wrong.

>vanilla copy of a 2D game
In 3D and thus with completely different gameplay, Metroid structure in-tact aside. Also introduced scanning and beam switching. And a few of the bosses were legitimately great. Not to mention excellent level design, amazing atmosphere, music, etc.
>hard as balls (respectively) with more bosses overall
Worse pacing, worse backtracking, some bosses were bullshit (Boost Guardian), even worse of a keyhunt, but still ultimately a fantastic game that's just not quite as good as the first, even if there were some improvements.
>linear but more action-based with several 1v1 boss fights
That is exactly why a lot of people hate MP3. Overly linear, action-ized to appeal to the Halo crowd, simplified gameplay since you can no longer switch between beams, less memorable areas, worse level design. Even the bosses themselves weren't as good as MP1 or 2's bosses.
>and best visual design of the series
Fuck no. They relied way too much on blue in the color palette, and most of the areas aren't as memorable as the areas in either of the first two.

Actually, i really think that it's 3>2>1.
>Mass Effect
Better gameplay
>Mafia
Muh difficulty and cars
>Dragon Age
Bigger world and better gameplay

And so on

Fallout.

both 1 and 2 are complete shit though.
Does it even matter?

Neckbeard
>1>2>3

Respectable connoisseur

Poorfag

FUCK YOU

This

Witcher.

Metal Gear Solid
Far Cry

>Dragon Age
YOU TAKE THAT BACK

Dark Souls.

Wew. Now THIS is funposting

I though FC2 was the best in the series

all wrong

street fighter, in two diferent ways

sf3 > sf2 > sf

3s > 2i > ng

FF XIII Triology.

Kirby's Dream Land

Grand Theft Auto

GTA
Warcraft
probably Civ
HoMM
trigger warning: Thief

Warcraft

I'd argue that Ape Escape is 3>2>1

Has Halo been said yet? Because Halo.

Replace 4 with 3 and you've got Uncharted right

Uncharted 3 was trash for what it should've been

>ctrl+f "breath of fire"
>0 results

nigga, blood and gold: carribean is a completely different game
fire and sword is based on a novel by senkyevich or whatever the fuck was his name, has nothing to do with carribean and sea in general

Breath of fire 2 is the best in the series though.

Ace Attorney.
JFA is great, fuck you.

Mario (if you consider US version of 2)
Megaman
Tekken
Street Fighter
Mario Land
Mickey's Magical Quest
Gargoyle's Quest
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi
The Witcher

Zelda? No one?

>5 below 3
>Reach higher than anything

>Far Cry 3 better than Far Cry 2

Etrian odyssey

only if you count fanmade maps and content.
out of the box, 2 was much better than 3

2 was so different from 1 and 3 that it's probably either the best or the worst for most people.

Witcher

The first ace attorney trilogy is 3>1>2

I couldn't even finish LTTP while I loved the first Zelda.

even though high stakes is objectively superior to all of them

Diablo series

>3 is a rehash
>2 Is somehow better then 3
>1 is still the best

You're a fucking idiot.

Metroid prime

Worms

Jak series if you enjoyed the guns. otherwise is 312

>Max Payne

Bioshock

I would say Jak 3 has better gameplay and I loved to be Mad Jak in the desert, but Jak 2 has better story and love interest. Thank god, Kiera won the Jakbowl on JAK X.

1 > 3 > 2

more like

Baby who started with 2 and never played 1
>2>3>1

fuck off

Frank's Adventure

>Budokai

>Tenkaichi
