>tfw more classic zones than original zones

>implying classic zones won't be expanded to about twice their original size
Come on you big babby

>mfw redone Labyrinth Zone with TaxStealth level design improvements and Water Barrier swag

nobody cares buddy

yeah fuck green hill zone or angel island zone, i wanted tropical area number 7 zone!

The way they handled Green Hill Zone and the fact that it's the tamest of the remix, I really don't mind. Also the rumor that we could have a multiplayer stage from Sonic 3 (and knuckles) as a full fleshed level such as azure lake make my hearth doki doki.

I think they've displayed their ability in creating unique stages/tropes with Studiopolis, even if it borrows from other tropes.

It's also fun to be treated to original music, level assets and mechanics.

I'd kill for the Zones from Sonic Mega Drive as DLC.

If Sonic Mania is a hit, Sega will probably put Taxman and co. in charge of a Sonic 5.

>tfw Sonic 4 can never be erased from history

>DLC
i would prefer being in the game already

Sonic 4 has to be remembered for what it was, user.

Without it, without Sega trying, and seeing the exact folly of their hubris, we wouldn't have Sonic Mania.

>DLC
>Mania 2
Why are people asking for this when we might get It's really aiming for the low hanging fruit when this can kick off the mainland titles again.

>implying it's gotta be either one or the other
Something new altogether wouldn't hurt. We don't have to have generic casino/city/tropical area every time.

Take the Knuckles Chaotix level designs and put them into something actually playable. I'd be all over that.

After years of playing this fucking game I finally got all the time stones

They'd be DLC because they're Archie locations, and Sega doesn't want to do anything with the comics (which begs the question of why do they still bother with it). DLC would at least be the safest option.

And mania is literally just Sonic 5.

You can't forget the holocaust user

we have to deal with it

>bringing back worst zone

>Archie locations

>if sonic mania fails sonic will probably be dead forever

It won't, the CE for Sonic Mania was a top seller on Amazon.

It might still get shit on by reviewers and non-nostalgia seeking players.

Personally I'm not in it for nostalgia, I just really like the gameplay of classic Sonic. Still, feels like that's a niche audience.

>no physical disk
>no USB Saturn game pad
>no Saturn esque jewel case
>no art book

Same here man. I forgot to destroy the robot generators in Metallic Madness though, which annoys me since I missed the achievement.

The masses don't really care about the Saturn even when it was out, the Genesis is all the rage.

>I'm not in it for nostalgia
Neither am I. I'm in it for good gameplay, and that looks almost guaranteed.

I'm mad too, but we gotta communicate to Iizuka that good video games make money.

>The masses don't care about the Saturn

Don't remind me.

Post all the Sanics

Poor argument, just look at Studiopolis. It's unique and something that's never been seen before in the series. They've shown they can be creative. Can you honestly tell me when you first saw Mania it was Green Hill Zone that hyped you for the game and not Studiopolis Zone?

Problem is when shitters like IGN or Previously Recorded call Sonic's gameplay "bad by design", comparing it to other platforms that either play very much similarly or just differently to Sonic.

>who cares what they think? LOL
Sega does. Hopefully they listen to regular fan feedback too, which is likely since meme man is in direct, personal contact with Iizuka and will probably pass on positive feedback received through social media.

VOTE, NOW!!

Is is the sonic thread?

>Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles separate
What are you doing?

Sega does what nintendon't
And Sonic 1 is still the best one.

My nigga

I think the hating on classic Sonic's gameplay is mostly a meme. Arin, RLM, and IGN might have hateboners and vocal dickriders, but I doubt they make up the majority.

The classics still review well, when re-released.

And like you said, the meme man is on the inside, and he seems more than eager to take conversations about quality to the naysayers themselves, when said naysayers are just flinging shit.

>3 and &K separate

>hurr my favourite starcraft game is Starcraft & Brood War

Sonic CD will always be the best one.
>best music
>best story
>best sonic rival
>comfy zones
>time travel

i know they can, and i'm sure they will amaze us with the other new zones they are preparing, but don't go and believe we weren't going to see a not-green hill zone.
if the thing didn't have green hill in the name people wouldn't have problems about it.

>shitty level design
>shitty spindash
>shitty bosses

Fuck off, nigga. CD is the worst classic sonic game.

No, that's Sonic 1.

Dont kid yourself, Sonic 1 is the worst

I just wanted to make a point that even if Mania turns a financial profit and positive reception, the "Sonic was never good" memers can still put a dent in its overall reception and it would suck if it affected the Mania crew's continued cooperation with Sega.

>mfw Sega aren't releasing the Sonic Mania CE in UK

>shitty level design
Not the best but the exploration part is perfect and it allows back traking. imagine if you wanted to get all the giant rings of a zone in sonic 3k its just trial and error you can't explore
>shitty spindash
true, but it doesn't botther that much, and taxman remake fixes that.
>shitty bosses
disagree, the bosses are really nice and creative. just as the a e s t e t i c s.

If you had to incorporate any elements from the modern games into the classic gameplay, what would you do?

>Amy and Cream playable
>Advance 3 tag team mechanics
>Emerald Shard Hunting as an optional thing you can do in any level as any character
>Emerald Radar as a monitor
>from Shadow how you finish a stage determines where you go next (implemented more like a Metroidvania, where each stage has multiple sign posts, which take you to different areas)

I never used the spin dash in CD, the peel out thingy is much better

I think overall I like CD but it took a lot of repetition. You have to learn the levels and when you do it's extremely rewarding to make good futures

I also love the simplicity of the story (Amy kidnapped by Metal Sonic, go get Metal Sonic and save a planet while you're at it). I always felt bad at Collision Chaos because I'd ignore and run past Amy in Palmtree Panic

I mean they could, I just think their sway isn't as strong as you give them credit for.

I don't see how. It wasn't obsessed with speed like 2 or tried too hard to be explorative like CD or 3&K.

Sonic 1 hit that perfect balance of brilliant platforming and going fast.

I want Amy or Metal Sonic playable in Mania

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only time Metal Sonic's been playable was in SA2:B multiplayer

>No spindash
>Special stages were crappy compared to 2 and 3&K
>Lackluster final boss

he's also playable in sonic rivals 1 and 2, sonic drift 2, sonic R and he's the reward for 100% sonic adventure DX
and there's sonic 4 episode metal

I trust in speaking with my wallet, as long as enough other people do too, but corporations can be pretty frail when it comes to negative reception.
"Gotta please everyone" and end up pleasing no one.

Labyrinth Zone is beautiful though. Just incorporate some more ground sections like HPZ

>spindash meme
You can still build up speed with proper knowledge in handling slopes and jumping.

Spindashing removes a lot of fun old school platforming Sonic 1 did right.

The rest is up to subjective opinion. I for one like 1's special stages and the final boss is fine albeit simplistic.

s3k>cd>1>2

Why does no one like Sonic 2 I don't get it

Changing carnival night zone to sandopolis zone in sonic 3 would make it the worst sonic game and sonic n knuckles the best.

Anyone know what emulator I need to play .7z files? Trying to play Sonic Classic Heroes on Gens but it isn't loading

>.7z files
unzip that shit

Why is Hill Top Zone so comfy?

Why is Casino Night Zone so classy?

Anyone who doesn't pick Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is objectively wrong and should ponder about acquiring a noose.

To expand on
Pic related.
To reach up the right you have to jump on the sloped platform pictured on the left. Jumping without momentum while on the platform forces you towards the left, so you have to build up momentum while on it to gain enough speed to reach the path.

In 2 or 3 you would just spindash to clear the gap. No challenge, just use your instant speed tool.

Nice fake cover art, but I won't play it unless they actually release a Saturn port.

>Everyone already forgot
>Nobody cares anyway
>All eyes are on Mania and Project Sonic

Will this even manage to turn a profit?

You could've just ended your sentence at
>I won't play it

A Saturn release won't happen.

did anyone EVER care about this?
especially after the abortion that was the wii u version

You bet your ass.

I fucking want that miniboss theme so badly.
I want it now.

Here I was going to suggest that they just fucking remake the game completely, and erase the embarrassment of such a subpar game being called Sonic 4, but when you put it like that, I guess that's better.

I mean, 2006's real title is "Sonic the Hedgehog" after all.

Season 2 when?

You know, there's a spring on that corner.

>It might still get shit on by reviewers and non-nostalgia seeking players
I'm expecting it to get shat on just because it's Sonic. Nintendo got away with NSMB for how many years?

Blech

I normally don't preorder but with Amazon Prime, this came out to only $60 including tax. Day statue and fake cartridge were too much for me to ignore.

The statue does the "SEGAAAA" sound when you flip the switch.

Didn't the Saturn stumble because it was much more expensive, the PS1 made fools of them at that one meeting, and US/Japan infighting?

I heard that the CEO of SEGA USA hated the idea of 2D games and would refuse to have a lot of games brought over from Japan because they weren't in 3D

Also it doesn't help that there wasn't a Sonic game.

No, in fact most hated it. The trailer got so many dislikes Nintendo disabled them. They should have just scrapped the project.

That so?

The spindash was put in there because Sonic 1 would eat your ass up if you weren't good enough to get momentum going all the way.

I don't see the problem with the spindash, it's not like it's an instant win button, and certainly not as overpowered as the Boost.

That being said, I fucking love the boost anyway.
I heard the game is actually turning out to be decent. That being said, I was never really that interested in Sonic Boom outside of the show.

This game makes me smile because this is what the saturn needed and never got.

At least it got the best on-foot racing game of all time.

Not like there are a lot of those to begin with.

Took a second, Taxman version, no spring

>episode DVD pack in
Holy shit I'm getting DBZ Budokai strategy guide flashbacks.

>usb saturn game pad
Don't fall for the meme unless it's the official one.
Just buy an original saturn controller and an adapter

>Sonic 1 would eat your ass up if you weren't good enough to get momentum going all the way
Is this supposed to be an issue?
That's what extra lives are for, if you fail, you try again.
This is the basis of almost all video games.

There are people who play Sonic 1 with spindash and claim "this is how this game is supposed to be played" when it literally isn't. It's designed to challenge you and reward skill with fast platforming.

Wew.

>only half a million views in the span of a year

youtube.com/watch?v=X1TwJmYz3eQ

Thanks, didn't have winrar on this computer so the icon didn't appear

This game could be all 3&K zones for all I care.

>3&K will never get Taxman'd because of the music copyrights

J U S T

The people handling Sonic I think have a bead on this and a bead on the fact that there are still fans and the games still sell.

That silent majority thing is SOMETIMES true.

THREADLY REMINDER:

Can you retards not imediatly jump to conclusions for once? First of all we still don't know what the ratio of old and new is going to be, since for all we know it could be 8 old levels and 7 new ones. Plus we don't know what more old levels impiles exactly, because if you recall, Taxman and Stealth wanted to include the Sonic 3 multiplayer levels as full 2 act stages for their proposed Sonic 3 Remaster, so they might be doing that for Mania.

And that's not even mentioning the fact that we don't know just how drastic the other classic levels will be remixed, since Green Hill's the most tame in the game. And I'm sure that the other ones are going to be quite different since Taxman said in an interview that there's a story reason why Sonic's going back to these old stages, and that they're being treated as real places that changed a lot over the year.

tl;dr stop going full retard before we get to see more than one act of two zones

>inb4 muh damage control muh shilling

I agree with you. Honestly, I foresee the structure being something as far as act 1 of the old levels is done in the visual style of the original zone, with a different level design, and act 2 completely flipping it or changing something drastically.

...Or maybe that's just wishful thinking. I dunno.

If they make the Sonic 3 multiplayer levels full zones, then Mania will be the best Sonic game ever.

Oh, I'm good enough to play the game without it.
I'm just explaining as to why they would put in the Spindash.

kys casual

>Labyrinth Zone is beautiful though.
?????????????

Are you mistaking it for Tidal Tempest or something?

Ahem

CD > 2 > 1 = 3K

Fucking hipster.

No hipstering here friend, just what I've come to prefer over the years. I would've put CD in dead last had it not been for the remake

I'm not. I love how it looks.

Why are there cut copy lyrics on the package
