It was a solid foundation that was lacking in depth, but still made a very enjoyable experience overall. There was a lot of potential in the IP, and the cliffhanger ending to the first game made a sequel a very exciting prospect. But judging by everything Ubisoft has released since, there is no way they will be able to make a BGaE2 that won't suck a pair of stale, focus tested balls rendered in a cinematic 24 FPS.
