They were fine, but Capcom seems to have forgotten how to make a post game. In 4U you had shit like Apex and a shitty selection G Rank quests to choose from. If there was a monster not on the list that you needed, you better hope it gets encountered during the game's stupid expedition mode, get a Guild Quest, or grind a Guild Quest. The best shit? Guild Quests. I'm actually working my way through FU right now so I can't say much about G Rank, but I thought TriU had a great one. All the monsters were available to be fought in one way or another and they had the common courtesy of letting you build weapons from their G Rank parts so you don't have to start all the way from low rank or early high rank.

Does Famitsu even give out low scores?

Can't believe that while we got X/GEN, they diverted most of their efforts and work for 5 years, including the normal Series director to this project.

FU is pretty bland compared to 3 and 4. The monster movesets just don't hold up. I liked the difficulty though, even if it got into tedious territory sometimes (like requiring a specific element weapon to break certain body parts).

It's semblance of a story is what almost made me quit Tri when I first played it. The constant talking and its tutorial made the opening slog. 4 Ultimate made things worse because nobody shuts the fuck up and they try to have this epic narrative about the hunter that rises up to the challenge, but honestly who cares? It's Monster Hunter, you hunt monsters. Why would I want a story when the gameplay revolves around killing anything that moves? It's partly why I'll praise the PSP titles so much and Generations to an extent despite starting out 3rd gen. They didn't care about story, just talk to a few people then go kill shit. That's all it needs to do and that's all there needs to be.

I don't like Monster Hunter games due to their slow combat (among a few other things) and this game looks fun to me.

The fact that its so different is what's so cool about it. It probably has a lower score because its doing something MH games don't normally do, so its not super experienced in this form of gameplay. Still looks fun.
