I don't think anyone who isn't already a fan of Dragon Quest is going to think the cover is shit simply because it's CG instead of Toriyama's art. The main "shittiness" you're getting out of it requires an existing foresight into the aesthetic and history of Dragon Quest, which casual buyers don't have.
