Chuck is portrayed very sympathetically as a psychopath and doesn't even actually die when you win the fight. Frank looks away and Chuck's body is gone when he looks back. If anything they beat the shit out of poor Frank by ruining his life and then trying to retroactively murder his career with 4.

2 was an improvement in every way aside from the story.

2 is a noticeable step down from 1 with overall quality and design, OtR helps restore some of that quality, but 3 is garbage and 4 looks like it's going to be actively sabotaging the franchise.

All the noncombo weapons suck. This includes every gun other than the six-shooter. And all the unarmed moves too.

I really cannot express how terrible limiting, nerfing, and removing the tools of death from the game made DR2 the least enjoyable game in the series for me. 3 may be empty and have imbalanced time out the ass. But at least Nick doesn't need to dodge zombies at level 50 because he's not carrying weapons that can kill them.
