Dead Rising 1 & 2 Thread

So Dead Rising 2 got a re-release yesterday. Who else wants to talk about the glory days before Dead Rising 3 happened?

>tfw FUCKING GameStop tries to shill DR4 to you when you go in to buy the re-release.

Dead Rising 1 was a better game than Dead Rising 2 despite being the more mechanically flawed game.

1 had a story/characters/setting, but if you're really going to purport that it's an overall better game despite having worse mechanics then you're wrong.

Luckily, they at least corrected part of that with OTR. Shame they couldn't just do a remake of the first game with 2's mechanics rather than the abomination that was 3.

The setting made more sense. I'll use guns as an example.
Dead Rising One
Pistols can be found
>A random drop from broken garbage cans
>Dropped by zombie police
Shotguns
>Gun Store
Rifles
>Gun store
>Dropped by sniper trio
Assault Rifle
>Dropped by Special Forces
>Can be taken from one late game survivor
Uzi
>Can be found in a fountain
>Hidden on an awning that requires some awkward platforming to get to

Dead Rising 2
Pistols
>Randomly found lying everywhere
Shotguns
>randomly found lying everywhere
Assault Rifles
>randomly found lying everywhere
Sniper Rifles
>randomly found lying everywhere
Grenades
>randomly found lying everywhere
Dynamite
>just lying around anywhere

Look, I get there was a conspiracy going on, but why was there just Dynamite lying around all over the place in a park and a bunch of casinos?

Why did white people get their cucky little hands on the franchise and ruin it?

The maintenance rooms were also kind of silly. Why does fortune city need dozens of tiny rooms with fully equipped work benches all over the place? The Parkview Mall was one of the few game worlds that despite it's fantastical elements felt like a place that could've existed it had a sense of cohesion that made the story feel really grounded. Fortune City by comparison just felt like it was designed as a video game sandbox before a setting. Both are totally valid ways to go about making a game, but Dead Rising one is the stronger and more memorable game.

>Why does fortune city need dozens of tiny rooms with fully equipped work benches all over the place?

Considering what the Disneyland/world undergrounds look like, they do actually make sense. For large resorts, the maintenance staff often need to repair/work on things near their deployments, so it makes sense that there would be a lot of maintenance rooms scattered around so that minor problems could be dealt with quickly.

Yo what is wrong with dead rising 3? Thinking of picking it up.

Take Dead Rising 2, make the characters and villains even less memorable, stretch the map out to the point of pure slog, and then douse it with brown'n'bloom. Also don't forget to make it even easier than 2.

Its America user.

Hows the dead rising 1 port on pc?

Pretty good. Looks like ass since it's the same visuals as 2006, but otherwise it runs well and they finally fixed the save game corruption.

>replay 1 and 2
>both take themself mostly serious in terms of story
>even with some of the crazy characters
>2/3 and 4
>all the characters make marvel tier quips after a character suffers a horrific death

WHY
I liked chuck but why

Dead Rising 1
>MC is a meme machine
>Obnxious delivery that works well
>Happy to keep venturing out to the zombie infested mall because ICOVEREDWARSYAKNOW
>Looks like the kind of guy who scratches his bare asshole then sniffs it deeply

Dead Rising 2
>Chad Thundercock
>Zombie outbreak barely happened and a girl wants his dick
>That chin
>Muh kid
>Did I mention I killed zombies like a badass for money? Damn...I'm hardcore....

>"Someone took my magnifying glass... I feel so violated..."

What are some good games with the same sense of urgency?

>Frank
>a meme machine in DR1
I don't think you understand what a meme is, exactly.

I need help Cred Forums I just saved the hostages from the cult but I had to leave them behind so I could get to the next case file on time. When I go back to the plaza they're still alive but they get so butt fucked by crowds of zombies and fucking retarded ai jesus christ that it makes it near impossible to get them back to the safe room. Is there a way I can disable the timer so I can load a previous save and get them to the safe room alive before running out of time on the next case?

Nope. You took too long. Either fail the story and save them, or let them die and move on with the story. If you're that pressed for time you can't do both.

is there a way to get them to act less retarded then? I try setting a marker but they're so spread out and bad at pathfinding that they keep ending up dead

The best way to get those guys through would be to keep them close to you and just cut a path through the centre of the plaza from the theatre to the warehouse door. Because there are so many of them at once try to keep them in the middle. If they spread out one them will probably get stuck in the little pools of water on either side of the plaza. I'd recommend using a katana and a bench to clear the path. Go slow and stead, if you try to go too fast they'll just keep getting grabbed and die. If they get grabbed go barehanded and punch them to free them without doing massive damage to them. Face crusher, disembowel, and the roundhouse kick are useful if you have them.If you get some of them to the warehouse you can enter and exit it do make the zombies re spawn a little farther away from the stragglers.

Oh and yes, if you picked up the brainwashing magazine after killing the cult leader it makes survivors always keep moving instead of stopping randomly to scream and whine every now and again. It really helps.

>tfw FUCKING GameStop tries to shill DR4 to you when you go in to buy the re-release
That's why you buy the Best Buy GCU membership so it feels like you're getting paid to have people shill games at you.
>bought Odin Sphere Story Book Edition for $64
>Dragon Quest VII for $32
>Star Fox Zero for $48
>Dead Rising for $16
Shit pays for itself after three normal priced games.

when do we migrate to /vg/? I love these threads but they're not always up and at this point they're more /vg/ material than Cred Forums

>they're not always up
>they're more /vg/ material
Mutually exclusive.
