Bioshock Infinite

If this game didn't have the name Bioshock and they replaced all the Quantum bullshit with magic, it would have made much more sense, imo.

The Luttece twins could have been demigods or some shit because they act like such, appearing and disappearing at a moment's notice.

Songbird could have been a demon, since he already looks like one and it's hard to buy that he's some genetically modified human like Big Daddies.

And enemies having to use more melee weapons would have made the combat more interesting, since 80% of the enemies in Infinite use guns, compared to Bioshock 1 and 2 where leadhead splicers were less common than thugs, houdinis and spiders.

I know I'm in the minority but I didn't actually have a huge problem with the story or anything. If you think about it to much then yeah there's plot holes and dumb shit but I enjoyed the ride.

It's the gameplay that's the issue, especially considering they pruned stuff back that was in the first game.

The game would still have an atrocious boring repetitive second half and gameplay that is worse than the previous two.

When you put so much focus in the story at least you expect to make more sense

This is what gets me the most in these modern videogames/movies/books/culture

It's just ol' plain stupid

Like Max Payne 3. Man that's one plotholed stupid ride. A fun one, until you realize you can't go back and replay it.

I agree, the dumbed down gameplay is definately Infinite's biggest problem:
-The two weapon limit is fucking retarded, especially since you can ugprade your weapons. What's even stupider is that upgrading your weapons no longer changes their appearance (I also hate how tonics don't change your hands and you only see the effect when you see the tonic or wait for the idle animation)
-Enemies are still bullet sponges and barely react to being shot, and there's still no gore apart from decapitations (Although it's not as bad as Bioshock 2 where you had a giant ass drill that didn't leave holes in enemies)
-Hacking is gone, and not being able to attack possesed machines before the possesion ends is fucking retarded
-Only 4 passive slots as opposed to the 20 or so from Bioshock 2

I wouldn't have a problem with the story if I wasn't forced to listen to it, and since Infinite is A LOT more scripted than 1 or 2, I can't just ignore that. (Also I fucking hate how the audio logs don't have subtitles and have this annoying scratching effect to them, it just hurts my ears).

The two weapon system is even worse when you consider that compared to the previous games the weapons feel very samey.

I'm more disappointed by the fact that there is no bolt weapon (Crossbow/Harpoon) or some sci-fi gun (Gelthrower/Ion Laser).

Does Infinite even have any weapons that aren't standard FPS fare?

I do like the shotgun though, lever actions are cool

I actually disagree. The guns felt a lot better to me, I beat Bioshock 1 and 2 using nothing but Shock/Wrench and Shock/Rivet Gun. Have you recently replayed the bioshocks? Guns handle like absolute ass, I ended Bioshock 1 with a full wallet and maxed out every ammo type because I never shot anything.

Nope, they were all pretty much standard fare and thus very boring.

You aren't in the minority. Cred Forums is just hopelessly contratian. There's a thread going on right now that's shilling for paid mods, for fucks sake

I would have enjoyed that, OP. You're not a fag... today
Been awhile, what was the plothole?

I marathoned the whole Bioshock trilogy (beat 1 and 2 for the first time actually) and I don't think any of them have particularly great gunplay, but I did enjoy 2 the most.

Besides in Infinite it's hard to go melee only because most of the enemies are hitscan and your shield goes down pretty quickly and you can't save up on medkits. It's a lot closer to your typical military FPS than Bioshock 1 or 2

The overpoweredness of the wrench when you equip all the wrench tonics in bio 1 is an issue with that game but gameplay is much better than infinite as you have more varied guns and can use them all at once.

Also theres so much vigor overlap in infinite, like 5 or 6 tonics basically do the exact same thing where as bio 1 had much more variety.

Which is more overpowered - the wrench or the drill?

Main problem I had with infinite was the gameplay. Too on rails. Story was not fantastic but was OK. I liked the music though.

>It's a lot closer to your typical military FPS than Bioshock 1 or 2

Fun fact. Ken Levine Wanted Bioshock to be an FPS plus, not a Shooter with RPG elements. So when you let him run free he striped out all the "extras" in his eyes.

He didn't even WANT to make bioshock at all. His co-workers had to override him on that.

Is the remaster still broken?

it would still be bad.

I haven't played bio 2 for a good few years so I can't remember how good it was compared to bio 1's wrench, I remember it needing fuel though but not sure if you could do regular melee without fuel.

As stupid as it sounds, updating my drivers actually fixed the crashing problems I had. Before I wiped and reinstalled my video drivers, I couldn't play for more than 5 minutes without a hard crash. After the update I played perfectly smoothly throughout.

You need fuel to keep it spinning, but you could do a melee bash that didn't use any fuel

You can do regular melee without fuel, drilling them just does continuous damage. And to answer the wrench with all tonics is WAY more broken than the drill.

You've got a normal Drill attack and a dash attack that one shots most low level Splicers.

only on PC just like everything else.

How did Ken Levine even get famous because from what I've seen I get the impression that he doesn't really want to make video games but rather stories.

Fucking beats me. He had no say in number 2, and even thought the gameplay is better, IMO the areas are less interesting to explore.

actually

Leadhead splicers are the most common enemy in bioshock and especially bioshock 2.

You might be right, I was a bit annoyed with Bioshock 2 when I found out thugs stopped appearing at one point

drill with all tonics is op but so much fun, especially drill specialist. then you can throw in invis tonic for even more fun. or stack with the awesome security ones for kick ass bots following around you around as well.

Bioshock was originally going to have varied monsters, most of them barely resembling humans. They were all labeled as "bad designs" and cut from the game, all replaced by humans.

So you'd feel "bad for killing them".

>So you'd feel "bad for killing them".

I think they underestimate the mentality of most gamers.

I noticed that Bioshock 1 and Infinite are really stupid when it comes to making you feel guilt.

In 1 if you harvested even ONE little sister, just ONE, then you get an ending where you're a terrible human being, regardless of how many little sisters you SAVED.

In Infinite, Booker is supposed to feel guilty about Comstock, even though he's in no way responsible for him. It would be like someone trying to guilt trip you over that baby you ate in a parallel universe.

scooby doo monsters

I went through the concept art and museum and I'm glad they didn't go with their original all designs.
The enemies being fucked up humans makes the whole game and atmosphere much more eerie and unsettling. A massive generic monster leaning over a pram rambling to himself? That wouldn't be scary or build any tension. It'd just be 'oh there's that obviously looking enemy'.

I wish they used those models for unique boss enemies, not common enemies.

I'm replaying the first, swarm/shotty master race.

Guess we'll have to disagree. I like the initial designs. But I think we can both agree that having an area full of cut models are concept art with developer commentary was awesome

>rifleman
>using a pistol

this

For me the first one runs like crap but 2 runs great, I don't know how the fuck that happens. I never had trouble running the older port, no crashes or bugs.
