It picks up after Alltrades Abbey. But it takes a while.

Any rough estimate on the number of hours into the game that is?

It took me 17 hours, though most guides say 19-20.

It took me 12 hours to get to Alltrades, but as I understand some people might take longer to get there.

Thanks

>game gets good 20 hours in
Why would you even bother playing this much if it isn't fun?

unlike most RPG's that end in about 30-40 hours you'll be spending alot more time. I honestly enjoy the slow pace at the beginning.

Guys help.
I was collecting monsters when I noticed Maribel was gone. Went back to her house and both Ruff and Maribel are waiting to join.
They won't let me just add them without removing someone so I'm stuck with 3 party members.
What do?

game gets good 20 hours in, in a game that easily goes on for over 120.

Let me put it this way.

"it gets good 20 hours in" is a weak argument when most rpgs are like 40 hours long.

DQVII is over 100 hours long, it's one of the longest RPGs out there

>stop playing game early on
>"psh, you didn't even play it, it starts getting good right after that"
>push through despite boredom
>"why do you keep playing if you don't like it?"
you just can't win here

you can only have three

Dude Alltrades Abbey is the end of the game's tutorial.
I'm serious. This game is so fucking long that you can justifiably call the first 20 hours, in which a party member permenantly leaves, the tutorial. The game's main mechanics only open up after that, and then you've only completed about 1/6th of the game.

Neets

Cayenne was just accused of poisoning the food, where do I go now?
Someone in the last thread said I need to leave the town and come back to the mansion, but that didn't do anything

Maribel is wondering where Camomile went in party chat

Rude. I'm the guy asking, and I'm a neet.

go to dills house >talk to him > then try to go to the big house using the big door

that part has a very specific trigger, I'm not sure what exactly it is. If that doesn't work did you visit the other town and resolve things there?

I'm one as well, and I sunk a lot of hours into mother 3, pushed by people saying it got better later on, before understanding It bored me.
I tought it came with the whole having nothing better to do thing.

apparently once shes kicked out that's it. That and if you've done the thing with carraway and the grave.

The game should hopefully be enjoyable enough once you've started rescuing islands. Unlocking vocations makes the game more interesting, but if you weren't having fun before then there's not much reason to force yourself into playing on.

Took me 24. And I'm still not there. I'm outside it at the casino.

>did you visit the other town and resolve things there?
You mean Wilted Hearts or whatever the name is? What even is there to resolve?

And that didn't work either, Cayenne is still sitting at the table bitching about Camomile

yea go to the other town and talk to people

I think you're actually fucked. That's a game-breaking glitch.

woodus.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35050

Try going to the house where they treat the dog?

>19 hours in
>enter casino
>40 hours in
>exit casino
Worth it

>Just tried the matching game
I'm gonna be here for a while huh?

Is swords dance as broken as it was before?

Where can i go to find healslimes? I can't remember where I saw them.

No. Its always that boring. Sell me your copy.

where to grind after level 20?

drakeslime tablets are good

If you're a modern day, retarded gamer then that's how long it would take you to get to a point where you might enjoy it.

For people with taste we enjoy the moment we boot up, hear that wonderful DQ music, and set out on an adventure.

Don't like slow, enjoyable, traditional RPGs? Then fucking don't buy them.

I want to say outside greenthumb, but I'm not certain. might be outside animal town.

Dragon Quest games are like a Japanese hot bath.

It's uncomfortable at first, but if you allow yourself to acclimate to it there's nothing quite as comfy.

Is there a decent way to make money before alltrades? I have a whopping 10g left.

CASINO
A
S
I
N
O

nice reply, but the casino is on the island with alltrades, where I haven't gotten to yet.

Well technically you'll get to casino before going to Alltrades Abbey itself, you didn't specify so I wouldn't know.

If you haven't even gotten to the abbey island, then just grind. Or abusing slime tablet's treasure chests.

>Well technically you'll get to casino before going to Alltrades Abbey itself
>both are on the same fucking island

thanks for the help.

Fight monsters
Sell old equipment

The portal is closer to casino than the abbey, so unless you're a retard who skips town, you'll get to casino first.

Drop rate on healslime hearts? I'm not expecting them to drop like regular slimes, do,

Frankly if the text would just scroll faster I would find this game immensely more enjoyable

then change the fucking settings retard
holy fuck there are so many idiots in these threads. none of you even deserve to play this with how stupid you are

Defeating God in less than 20 turns is pretty hard.

This is your first dragon quest game isn't it?
Lol at all these people defending this fact.

awesome

Should I buy 4 Meteorite Braces even if I can already defeat God without them?

The text settings only affect the in-battle messages nimrod

Why not?

Where are the casinos? I completely forget where they are. :/

anything nice I can get or do once ive got the flying carpet?

Recruit Mervyn asap

Not him but where is this town where everyone is a painter? I'm assuming I need to get that stone to get Mervyn

I got a healslime heart.
How do I use those?

Hey guys, I'm fighting this wind monster and it's raping my asshole without effort. Wat do.

Multiheal on at least two characters

Give him to who do you want as Healslime and go to the Abbey

>if it isn't fun?
If you hate it, by all means drop it. But usually I do kinda enjoy myself before reaching the
>it gets fun around here
mark in a JRPG. I think the game is kinda slow and boring, but I don't hate it, I do enjoy myself while playing it. If you want a DQ thats easier to pick up, play DQ9

What DQ isn't just a generic quest stretched over 50 hours.
Isn't the entire theme of DQ games how generic and vanilla they are.

>hero's dad already talking about his son's wedding

Whoa, he still looks like a shota.

RESHUFFLE

>played 10+ hours every day since I got it
>Hero's level 86
>Already cleared both bonus dungeons
>I'm still job grinding through all the monster classes
Somebody help me.

How is the second bonus dungeon?

>that banquet after reviving the Almighty

Half expecting the reveal to happen there just like in DQ3,

You fight all the elemental spirits at once. Enemies are a bit more difficult than the first bonus dungeon, and you can encounter Platinum King Jewels which give a ton of exp and can drop their heart.

The one that doesn't have gohan

So what new classes were added? I remember some anons were saying some classes were added in the remake but I can't find that info anywhere

Wait, why can I meet Palmela in the Cathedral of Light? She lived in the past.

All the fortune tellers from that village have the same name. They literally state that at some point.

Ah, I forgot about that.

>world leaders are gathered from all corners off the world to meet God
>your area is represented by a buff man whose hobby is chasing maids all day

How do you feel?

>Get 5 melons in a row from slots
>300k tokens

Oh gosh.

Wait, where's the leader of fucking Volvograd?

>Is the entire game this monotonous and tiring?
it gets way more tiring since late islands are 90% backtracking
also you lose intermediate classes skills so there is no real reason to class anything that doesn't lead to hero or the class that has multiheal
it's very mediocre but fun

This game is Christian as fuck.

DQV was an emotional, epic journey.

at first as a child you are protected by your dad in every fight until he sacrifice his life for you, then you proceed in a hostile world with just your bro until you manage to build a family and reacquire your kingdom just to lose it all again, frozen in a stone... for a few minutes that are actually several years in the game until you are saved by your children that are the actual heroes of the legend.
I think it might be the best plot in a DQ they ever made.

And libertarian.

Protect your sword-wielding right, folks!

Wish I hadn't been spoiled of the twist near the end. Would make a nice surprise.

Is this a good first Dragon Quest? Or should I wait for VIII 3D to come out? Been hearing how good DQ games are and tried playing 1-3, but they didn't catch my attention for how simplistic/vague it was at times. But then again I love FF, and that is really simple with not that great early games (2)

I really enjoyed the story of the hero overcoming immense hardship--suffering in silence the whole time.

When the fuck do I get maribel back? Just finished volvograd

it's the slowest DQ and also one of the slowest JRPG ever.
It's like a nice little fable with a hugely slow pace, a shounen with 300 episodes. For the first 20 hours you'll just autoattack and occasinally heal or use fire, until you finally unlock the job system but at that point most places will have HUGE backtracking (as in doing the same dungeon something like 6 times back and forth).
Plotwise is also generic as fuck.

It's not bad, it actually can be a lot of fun but it really feels like a time sink.

Still quite a while.

>Ruff comments that Maribel looks muscly

What? She was working out all the time she stayed at the village?

Her mother does a similar remark to her. I guess fighting monsters makes you fit.

Nah, DQVIII is still the best first DQ.

>you are protected by your dad in every figh
except the entire time you play as a child you're not with your dad?

My first DQ was IX so I would rec that.

why the second casino is so bad? Just 2 slow of 1 coin, wtf?

Why would you recommend a game that plays nothing like the rest of the series?

What you see is what you get with this game. It's a slow, old school, massive JRPG. The game does pick up somewhat in the 20h mark, in the sense that you will unlock jobs, and some fights get more interesting than just auto attack, but the game itself will still feel the same as before.

If aren't enjoying now, chances are you won't enjoy it period.

If you're a graphic whore, perhaps.

>plays nothing like the rest of the series

Wut?

DQ is best with top tier graphics for maximum comfy, which is why I'm really looking forward to XI.

wasn't that like only in the dream world and in another istance

That and yelling to MC about everything that bothers her.

The whole twist seems like DQ's take on an SMT-style story.

>plays nothing like the rest of the series
Stop this meme.
IX's customizable, non communicating party members is like III.
IX's compilation of completing mini stories through towns is just like any DQ.
Just because it had innovations like armor showing up on screen, and multiplayer doesn't make it less DQ than the others.

the first cave, the ghost castle. and then that fairy place. then he dies. He fights one battle with you.

If you want to recommend a DQ game to someone that has never played one before, you're way better off with one that is really good and has up to date graphics and overall gameplay. That's the one that will make you go after the older ones, less 'impressive' looking games.

it playing like an action rpg fucking does though

I didn't mean it in a bad way. But you know, gamers nowadays often are turned off if they see a slightly old graphic.

>you need to get the permission of present KIng Buccanham to enter the lighthouse
>go back to the city, not remembering he already moved in with the dwarves

Fug.

How is Dragon quest for someone who likes getting max stats hitting 9999, defeating secret bosses, doing sidequests and that shit?

youtube.com/watch?v=e_bQZ9cDqZI
Wut?

There's a whole bunch of vocations to learn and max out, including monster vocations. If you want max stats then going all out and trying to get as many seeds as possible by stealing it is probably a valid option.

There's a post-game dungeon or two and the secret final boss (also in other DQ games) gives you a prize if you defeat them quickly.

>Main - Champion
>Maribel - Druid with Multiheal
>Ruff - Hero
>34 hours in

Contain your orgasms and jealousy

What point are you in the story?

Sidequests are scarce but the game opens up in terms of exploration as you go. I'd advise you checking out Dragon Quest III or IX, they sound like they could be up your alley.

>action rpg
Wat?

I'm looking for the Mermaid Moon.

>Can't romance Maribel

Why did I even buy this game

the random battles through those zone are all fought with your dad healing you as soon you are damaged and dealing hundreds of damage while you do double digit max

Maribel isn't even in the top 3, my man

This game is so long I dont even want to think of sidequests.

to be fair DQVII feels more like a collection of sidequests one after the other

That's genuinely what I love. So much cool smalelr stories.

is there even romance at all?

You and the total play time.

You didn/t play it on PS1. THAT was boring. But yeah it's one of my least favourite DQ games too.

You're probably not still here, but where'd you get it?

From a Healslime.
Was grinding around Greenthumb to get cash for boomerangs.

I wonder how high the dropchance is.

I only played the PS1 version when I was a kid and it was fucking terrible. Easily the worst of the mainline series. I've heard they added a lot of quality of life stuff to the 3DS versiom but I can't possibly see it being enough to make it a good game.

Is it even worth it to spend moments of your life on something that is boring as hell but may become good after 20 hours? After all it's 20 hours of your life and you can't get them back.

in retrospect there's a shitload of my life I lost on pointless shit so 20 hours isn't anything in the long run

This. So much. In fact, Dragon Quest itself is a shitty series and a waste of time. I mean, really? Turn based games in two thousand fucking sixteen?

Fuck that faggot drama in that garden place if I could I would just turn them all to stone again.

I heard there's a point where you get cut off for the abbey for awhile, when is that?

I think you'll get one in a chest if you can't get any drops. It gives multiheal, which is pretty good since it lets you keep it regardless of job.

I am questioning if one of the writers has some kind of fetish for failed love stories.

I'm ok with the game being turn based. It's the least of it's problems. It's actually not a problem at all. Also never played xenogears when I was a kid heard lots of good about it. Emulated. It's just some giant robots anime shit with biblical names here anf there and retarded plot. IT WILL BE GOOD WHEN YOU FINISH THE FIRST DISC
OH NOES user SECOND DISC IS SHIT ONLY THE FIRST ONE WAS GOOD
but somehow the game is great they say allright.

Dracuck Quest 7

just got to the abby and I'm really not sure which classes to go with first. do shepherds and jester have good abilities? how bout sailor?

If it is your first visit at the Abbey then anything is fine. Just choose one you like on that character and enjoy what happens next

Wew

Jester has a few good skills but it has pretty bad stats. It's necessary if you want to get Luminary which is needed for Druid.

Shepard has a really good skill that puts all enemies to sleep with a really high success rate. It's also a requirement for Monster Masher; a pretty good advanced vocation

I just "enjoyed" it. I figured somethin was up with it but thought just maybe I'd get to change first. still wondering about those classes though

alright looks like I'll give those a go when I can

Have you ever gotten all 3 rows at once before? It's quite a light show when that happens

What are you guys planning or using for your character's final classes? I'm interested in suggestions.

>random glowing dot indicating place of interest appears in the ocean east of Emberdale
>there is absolutely nothing there and I haven't unlocked any new islands

This shit is driving me crazy. What is there guys

The only Advanced vocation that's not really worth the time is Armamentalist (Warrior + Mage)
Paladin, Pirate, and Monster Masher are all great
Luminary and Sage are solid but you mostly just take those so you can get Druid
Hero and Champion are obviously fantastic

>Providence
>All that ridiculous backtracking
>Nothing really happens other than typical monster invasion
>Finally battle time
>Oomph+Gigaslash dragon guy to death
>Game acts as if I lost

ENOUGH.

>353271372
monster medeows

Hero: Hero
Maribel: Druid
Ruff: Still grinding through monster classes so we'll see. Might end on Esterk or Platinum King for giggles, or just make him a Hero once he's learned like every monster skill
Mervyn: Champion
Aishe: Champion but really the bench

You should have someone master both Jester and Thief because the advanced class you get (Monster Masher) is great.

No, Monster Masher is Shepard + Thief

Monster Masher is Shepherd + Thief though
You definitely want at least one person to be a Thief though, Sandstorm and Safe Passage are generally handy.

Pirate sounds fun,I'm assuming it's something like sailor+warrior/thief right?

Oh my bad

But yeah get Thief for sure.

Sailor + Thief. Yeah it's really solid. Thin Air, Oomph, Sword Dance, and a decent chance to steal shit after every battle.

If only the Dragon Quest games were as good as its pornography.

Hero: Hero
Maribel: Druid
Ruff: Monster Masher
Mervyn: Champion
Aishe: Luminary then bench

I'll probably make Ruff a Hero if I have to if the post-game dungeons are difficult enough

turn based games are awesome. That's not the problem, not at all.

>Gigaslash

Overkill grinding

Does the game tell you what classes are needed to ublock advanced classes, or is it all experimentation/checking online? Also are monster classes worth it?

I haven't looked into classes yet so I'm not sure what to do with my characters. I'm like 10 hours in and no sign of Alltrades yet. Doing robot island right now

I just grinded for Hero for MC, that was it.

>Does the game tell you what classes are needed to ublock advanced classes,

Yes

There's a NPC in Alltrades that tells you the requirements for every advanced class.

Yeah, that is overkill.

7 more hours till you get to it lol
the game kinda picks up around there but not by much

You say that as if mastering three intermediate/advanced classes isn't overkill

I've promised myself never to do another dq casino unless the games were actually interactive. Slots or bingo or betting on monster battles are all awful. You're not actually playing anything.

To it's credit, this one DOES have poker. Though they have a history of rigging that shit.

I've seen others do more.

Literally just spent like an hour or so at slime forest and I was done. I just like how he looks like a palette swap version of III's hero, that's all. Chill, kids.

This is exactly what I did

At least the DQ8 remake means Roulette will come back again and that shit's easy to rig in your favor.

Having grinded to some advanced vocations, you're full of shit. It takes far more than "like an hour" to get that stuff.

the harmour stand-in for that knight mugging the priest just asked to go to Monster Meadows

So there's a second fragment at the Buccanham church. I know it's behind the altar but how do i make the nun leave?

>Talk to Old Guy on top floor of Casino
>Talk to Mayor looking guy at the shortcut between the casino and the town's main entrance
>Talk to the Armour Seller's Wife (enter through back)
>Climb the big ass tower again to talk to the Armour Seller
>head back to the altar and inspect it

Har. I had the very first batboon you fight after the revolt in the arena ask.

You need to wait on that one for a while yet.

Uninterrupted slimes using quickest job route took me like what, 2 hours? It's not that big a deal.

In this game being on an intermediate class should be enough for that point, Hero is pretty much the endgame class

>grinded for Hero even before level 20
That's even more disgusting brah

I had fun from the very beginning.

Maybe it's not a game for you?

So does the Snoop skill find those hidden spots on the floor?

fuck I'm retarded but how do I get into the flying rock?

Why is the kike on wheels so manga sexy now?

You don't yet. Go talk to the nun in the southern tower like that one person told you to do

what does the ruinous shield?
Should I just use cursed items anyway?

Cursed items are never worthy.

This is what niggas said about no mans sky

Talk to Pike
Go to mansion in El Ciclo
Go to mansion in Grondel
Go to L'Arca Island and use the carpet to get to the mansion you couldn't access before
Talk to rich guy

Not true. But in this game it sort of is yeah. But in the past DQ's there were some cursed items that gave some good effects. The hammer in DQ5 for instance that was basically hachetman the hammer.

You do know that's footage from way before the game got actually released before they changed back to turn based after the japs bitched and moaned, right?
And that Engine would later on be used to make Fantasy Life, right?
Or are you still stuck in 2008?

Hating on DQ9 is basically a meme. The only real complaints is how piss easy the main story is and how it's relatively short to do it.

The battle system improvements are amazing. Magic crits needed to be a thing since forever,

I love DQ9 more than DQVIII and DQVII, I couldn't finish DQV and DQVI. Didn't try DQIV.

Main story can be fairly tricky depending on how you go about it. Beating the story with a sub level 40 team for instance.

>silver shields are the best thing since sliced bread that anyone can equip, even Ruff
>have to go through lucky panel for this shit and even then it's still pretty rare

You can buy them in the last armor shop

I mean sure, a party full of just minstrels may lead someone to having more difficulty, but for the most part, the traditional jrpg party is more than enough to breeze through the game.

This game isn't actually balanced around grinding, you can just train as you go and with good managing skills you'll get a decent challenge out of it. But you should've known either way that this is a 100 hours game.

there was also some item from DQ8 that made Yangus do 1DMG, perfect for using his stealing scythe skills

So, I did all that stuff on the island with the people turned to stone and Carraway left. The island shows up in the present now, what am I supposed to do there?

I only just got access to Buccanham casino. I want this shit now otherwise I wouldn't be putting up with this

Or how in DQ8 the Hero is immune to curses so any cursed items he can actually equip have no downsides.

Are there any big missables? I don't care about medals that much.

I mean, missable side quests and the like.

>that pun about Enormoose
but holy fuck I got entirely fucked over by one rockbomb killing everyone except Ruff and Hero with 5 hp left.

You can miss the lorecap. I did. You have to visit wetlock before a certain part in the story.

...

Just roll with it.

What exactly is the lorecap?

I want to adopt Ruff as a son.

for me plot and characters are important, DQIX not having any of those for me is just grindfest and boredom.

Gives a big bonus to wisdom if I remember right. Can help win that contest for you.

>Urnexpected

I think I tasted the difficulty spike at the Abbey. Ok you are supposed to lose two battles on purpose but everything turned way harder anyway. Even when I got my abilities back, it was harder to win. That fucking 6-battles in a row tournament. Then, when I came back to the present day, the thieves near the abbey almost killed me. It was horrible.

DQ9 does have plot. The overarching one (like this game) does indeed take the majority of the game to uncover. Each town does have an episodic nature.

Blank slate characters may have you down, but if you enjoyed dq3, and not 9 I can't really see where you're coming from.

Okay, that is a big missable. Thanks user.

which monster wud u fug

After DQIX I expect every location and monster to be a dumb pun and I'm actually kind of sad when I don't seem to see one.

Cardinal Sin and The Time Being are pretty gud

Why can't the magic carpet go over brown ground? it's not even that high.

Past or present? And what's this certain part of the story you mean?

This obviously doesn't apply to sandbox games because plot is nonexistent. Sandbox games survive purely due to their gameplay mechanics. JRPGs might have cool gameplay mechanics but if the plot sucks major dick, then the enjoyment is just half as fun. And turn-based combat systems aren't really the most fun gameplay feature.

The present. I missed it myself, so I don't know exactly the story trigger that makes it missable but I can only assume it's

before you revive the almighty

I knew he was short, but holy shit. DQ7 hero is a straight up manlet

I think he is canonically the youngest protag.

He's also kid, for one.

>Not godhand maribel

What am I supposed to be jealous about exactly?

DQV's first part.

I don't know, he even has a hero lol. What a waste.

Then at the end he's the oldest.

Besides the DQ5 hero, aren't they all supposed to be relatively young? I don't usually pay attention to that sort of thing so I honestly don't know, but I never got the impression that any of them were adults granted its been a while since I've played most of them.

Fair enough, but the DQ7 hero stays the age he is through the entire game.

and besides, the DQ5 main character isn't the hero

>30 hours in
>Hero - Sailor
>Maribel - Witch
>Ruff - Martial Artist
Something is off

they're all actually about 16.

7 was done during Toriyama's"contemporary" phase though so that's why he's so young looking

or I think that was the name of it from that image. Basically less focus on DBZ muscles

what game is the one of the last to the right?
and also the one left to the hero of VII?

2, 6

II, VI

>no DQ4 FemHero
I'm disappointed

I want to adopt Ruff as a daughter.

exceptions to the "Hero is 16" bit:

DQIV: 18
DQV: 6, then 16-20, then 28.
DQVI: 17
DQVIII: 18
DQIX: 13

So the IX hero is the youngest consistently, I guess.

But he also looks his age I think.

Regenstein is a pretty good joke, akin to Angel Falls in IX. Though I don't think anything will top Xere.

explain regenstein to me

German words for Rain and Stone

>Xere? that's not a pun
>stone replica, Xere Rocks

>'My' Lavender!? Urgh! I can't stand men who treat women like their personal property. A lady can lie under whoever she pleases!

Oh Maribel

Good thing Maribel's already decided who she wants to lie under

Everyone in town? several hints in the game point to that she's a prostitute.

The only indication of IX's age I remember is some npc calling him "less than 500"

This is DQ VII, not FF VII

...

Maribel is pure!

How can Maribel be the most dressed up DQ girl and be the lewdest one at the same time?

Yeah, pure slut for the Hero's sailor D

Greatest love story ever told.

That's because a full dress is the most lewd form of clothing. Except maybe transparent negligee (which she also wears).

Honored. I wish we had a leader with balls like that.

Maribel is the tsundere that all other tsunderes should strive to be.

Like, for starters she actually has a personality beyond "Wants the MC's dick"

The USA did and now his wife is running for president.

its only sluttly if you crave mutiple dicks

maribel only craves mcs

It's her weird half circle eyeballs.

Well, that's how Tsundere's used to be in the 90s. Before Love Hina (and Eva) made them generic balls of anger. What most people consider Tsundere these days is just Tsun.

What the fuck was Keifer's problem?

Muh purpose
Muh waifu

I think you need to spin the question on it's head and ask yourself what your problem with keifer is.

As a roamer he'll still travel the world.

He wanted to escape his role of being a king, stuck on one small island forever. He wanted to be an adventurer and explore the world. He settled down with a group who's job was literally to roam across the world. As well as falling in love.

Not that hard to figure out. Dude was just trying to escape being a royal. Its the most overdone cliche in fantasy stories next to swords and fire breathing dragons.

>Post-game DLC tablet
>You end up having to bail him out again

Do you remember where/when's that chest is? Just trying to decide if want to try and grind out a heart, or wait for a guaranteed one, somewhere.

He's a dick and not a real friend, that's his problem.
Fucking faggot cunt idiot bastard traitor

Pleb missed out on class change. I bet he'd be happier as a teen idol.

Is there no half-inch in this one? How do you steal shit? And can monster hearts be stolen, or just plain items?

hearts can't be stolen. And klepto clobber can steal items.

Doesn't Kiefer rejoin at the end in this one? Is he any good? Did he gain any mp?

He was Aishe all along.

Alltrades abby does some good work.

The rumors don't look like to be true. Though there are still more story related dlcs to be released.

Anyone who played the original and has all the story dlcs want to confirm?

Fug. Was 9 the only one with half-inch? I feel like that was always a staple but maybe I just played 9 for far too long

>Buy a handful thief's keys
>Find a closed chest
>Do you want to use a key to open the chest?
>...
>No
Fuck me and fuck my autism that forces me save items for later

dq8 did too.

the original didn't have dlc you dumbass

Thief's key is infinite use, you only needed to buy one. I honestly don't know why they let you buy more than one.

you only needed one user, they're reusable.

It's not a consumable.

Seeing images like this make me wonder why there are people that exist who think Toriyama doesn't do samefaces. The heroes are even nicely paired off, a pair on each side and a pair right behind VII

>It's not a consumable
>you only needed one user
>you only needed to buy one
Either I have been tricked hard or I'm remembering wrong.

I meant the japanese version. Take a chill pill friend.

Say what
You telling me I bought all those for nothing ?

You wasted your money and probably time grinding. Sorry user.

I started the game over after learning I didn't have to kill Wiggles, but I can't shake this feeling of great shame.

I made the same mistake. I knew it was infinite use in the other games, but you always got it through story events or some shit. Having never played VII before, I thought it was different here and bought like 15.

20 hours later I still feel the rustling from that decision every time I open a locked chest.

You bought them all for nothing user, and the pain will never fade...

can you actually kill wiggles in the 3ds version?

Am I a pleb for thinking the Alltrades Alley segment is the highlight of the game? It was so creative and rewarding to complete.

I don't get it

>single phials restore mp

Somebody fucked the bike on this one. The description says HP, and they drop like candy in tablets. RIP magic water

Yes, but it's terrible because it only makes you feel like a dick. And because he can't sacrifice himself to kill the hellworm, the town falls.

Is it possible to use Oomph+Gigaslash?

Xere Rocks is a copy of a previous town,
Xere

Xere Rocks. Sound it out. Not trying to be facetious, but it's funnier when you realize it yourself

Xere is just some town.

Then you run into a mysterious stone duplicate of it called the Xere Rocks.

It doesn't work in later dqs so probably not.

What's the best method to recruit Platinum King Slime? They always run before I can use the Monster Masher abilities

What level are you at?

if mid 70's you can try some metorite bracers to bump up your agility.

But how I did it:

One champion, 3 monster mashers.
Have champion use the item from the almighty and then the rest use animal magnitism.

Pray it stays the round. Use blade of ultimate power next turn.

Fyi regarding a game breaking glitch talking to The Wizz after learning the great leveler with Maribel in your party with remove her leaving you permanently stuck with a party of 3 and unable to beat the game.
Apparently there's also several other scenes where this glitch can occur so make sure to save often.

>talking with the plot transitioning NPC after everyone else in town

>they actually made a whole new town for present herbplace and only put a badly hidden tablet there
It pretty much only exists for that skirt chaser mayor joke

>look game in pic up
>"That looks cute and fun I might just-"
>Tower defense.

It was pretty to go up to the church, at least. I kinda liked that the boss was right at the start of the area and then the rest is just drama.

Only magic keys on nes were consumed

Are there any worthwhile monster hearts aside from the healslime and oomph-guy one? I've Fitbit a bunch like chimaera and mimic from casino and wondering if they're any good

It's more musou than tower defense.

All the more reason not to use the slut in the first place.

plat king is one of the best classes in the game for resistances alone. But you'll need 110 mini medals for it or grind out the rest of the monster jobs.

Jawtoise gives kabuff.

There's zero point going for 110 mini medals with all the misable ones imo

You can think of it like that sure. There's really no great reason to grind out any monster jobs unless you want all the possible skills.

Doesn't make plat king any less than an amazing job when you have it though.

Its feasible to max 16 monsters. I'm not going to use a guide to make sure I don't get all the crazy medals, because some are hidden in bullshit ways.

Is it me or did this game have an unusually easy final boss? In most other DQ games I played I just barely scraped through the final boss fight with half of my party dead, but in this game I thumped every one of the Demon King's forms and nobody died once

I would rank 9's final boss way easier and even 8's. But yeah with the right jobs mastered he's a cakewalk.

i hate when i accidently talk to the important one first

I've played 4, 5, 6 and 9, the only final boss that wrecked me was Psaro.
I took a screenshot of me finally winning. Anyone not shown in this pic is dead.

I was running low on MP by the end but I forgot to give everyone any consumables in the first place. And half my party didn't have their proper classes, I accidentally walked into the boss room and decided I didn't want to quit out to my last save to properly grind up my final classes or anything.

Rhapthorne depends a lot more on what level you get to him at since he spams so many high end spells and constantly removes your buffs. If you get to him at like level 40ish he's pretty tough.

The main ones I remember were in V most of my party was dead and I finished off Nimzo with just the MC's son, Sancho, and a Golem, and in VI almost everyone was dead, my second stringers were fighting, I was about to give up and reset the game, and then Ashlynn's Big Bang finally finished off Mortamor

>It's a "Dungeon you can't Evac from" episode.

just killed the demon king for the first time, how long till I can get Mirabel back and finish the game?

Nimzo was by far the easiest, didn't even use my monster companions, just the hero and his family, including best waifu Deborah.
VI was pretty tough, but it wasn't "multiple attempts also grind until I learn multiheal on russian priest" hard. I will say that the sands of time is the most broken item in the world and that kerplunk dance is the best move in the game if two people know it.

>single phial
>description says it restores HP
>it restores MP instead
3 years till the japanese version and they didn't even fix shit like this.

Graphics and new engine aside, it's probably the worst DQ I've ever played

>Try to evac
>Can't
>Guess I'm gonna hit a boss fight or plot trigger on the way out
>Yup

I'm at the same point as you

>"Hey Hero, you should go back to Hubble!"

>"I can't snap my fingers and gather the worlds greatest torban players together just like that, you know!"

uh

I dunno, when I went into the final battle somewhere in the mid to upper 30's with Hero Protag / Champion Ruff/ Luminary Maribel/ Paladin Aishe I ran out of MP with two of the three characters and the third stage of the boss kept shouting for ~150 damage to each person. I forgot that I had Multiheal on Aishe but not Maribel, but I was too busy trying to put up buffs to notice. My final party wasn't very far in their vocations either, so that played a role.

It's easy to get carried away with grinding in the Dragon Quest games that have vocation systems. The final boss in IX was also pretty easy if you farmed for skill points on LMS. When the only thing that determines your character's strength is their level, it's much easier to balance bosses since the dev knows what the player's party should look like by that point in the game.

Make sure you've triggered all of the cutscenes without Maribel, otherwise you might hit a gamebreaking glitch which prevents you from fighting the final boss and limits your party size to 3.

Martial artist Maribel is adorable, with her messy hair buns.

>DQ6
>Make everyone a mage as soon as alltrades is back
>Frizzle on everyone, 80 damage for 2 mp
>Only needed one fight to get it
>DQ7
>Make everyone a mage
>Get sizz after one fight
>Frizzle requires going balls deep into mage
>It's 4 mp even when you do get it
>Wind sickles is free, does the same, and is on a class you need if you don't want to go druid
>Mage now entirely worthless except for Maribel and Mervyn
What class is your LEAST favorite, guys?

Slime. Two skills for the entire run and they are both in basic human jobs.

Jester easily.

>Shit stats
>barely any skills worth anything
>Mandatory if you want to go druid

>Finally got Maribel back
>She's just a level under the MC and still above Ruff

Thank god, I thought she was going to be underleveled, but it's like she was barely gone.

>mfw I managed to get rid of Aishe without her even qualifying for an advanced class

>what the fuck, why is this joke class so shit

What is style and why should I care?

How many classes are there? Wish the Loto Trilogy and Zenith Trilogy were on the Virtual console

>Let's make a joke class mandatory for a Master Vocation.

Nah man. All you should've needed for Luminairy is Dancer and Troubadour

It was mandatory for a second Sage in III, it's not like this is anything new

Game picks up in 20 hours doesnt mean everything before that point is not enjoyable

just grind some slimes

>ha ha, time for flip cards again
>FIVE HOURS LATER

am I supposed to be seeing faces in the thumbnail

Aramentalist.

True enough. It's still my least favorite to use though.

Though in retrospect, using the slime monster vocation was worse.

Damn I hte Aishe, why would they think giving they replace Maribel at that point of the game it was a good idea?
On the other hand I would've liked her if they gave her before, somewhere after the abbey would've been nice, it kinda felt lonely for a while after Keifer left.

I just unlocked the download bar. Which of the current tablets should I get? At my current levels of 13 is there one that has a level cap of 99 so I can be set for when I unlock the abbey? Of course one that isn't balls hard and can do battles quickly of course.

Any reason to use whips over boomerangs?

When does this become an issue? At the start, maribel can only equip whips and not boomerangs, and the people who can boomerang can't whip.

At the end game, there is a whip everyone can use but its at 105 mini medals. But then there's no good boomerang. There is that flail in the monster casino though that's really good and I guess you can count it as a boomerang.

None

Wetlock
the Hero is my only boomerang user, and Dragontail Whip gives the biggest attack boost out of anything else in the shop

same

it felt like watching a good long shonen animu series

does anybody know what Fire Claws do in battle?

Do the travelers tablets that you download have no cap? If so which one has piss easy monsters?

frizzle.

depends how big the boost is. In general though, boomerangs chipping everyone down is far more useful.

96 -> 122
My Hero is a Monk, so he has Roundhouse Kick. Is that enough for a replacement?

What do whips do, again?

Do monster hearts change characters appearences into monsters? Because I gave ruff a chimara heart and hes just normal ruff

Can i just skip the first 20 hours? Is a story cap and tutorial basically a better option? I think its just inject the save

I would say that's considerable enough of a boost to go for if you have the cash. Though If I remember right, you're going to find a better single target weapon in the dungeon you are headed to. I would say at that point yes, roundhouse is pretty good.

7 is at least 80 hours long. At least half the game isn't the tutorial.

in the overworld and some dungeons he will look like the monster as well as in battle.

Best way to grind with no cap? Just want to watch some TV and mindlessly go at the godhand class

do you have access to making your own tablets? If so, make on with easy monster recruits like slime.

or the dlc tablets.

Pass with roundhouse, you'll get a sword soon in gracos' palace.

There's really only 2 and they're post game so don't worry about it.

Please post more Maribel in different outfits

This game needs something like gear transmogrification.

I like having everyone at hero, but I wish they had different outfits.

Only in fields/dungeons.

Cursed items are only worth it in 4 and 8 since they have party members who can't be cursed.

>it's a "entire world you can't use zoom in" episode
i hate this shit, getting the teleport spell early is one of the best things about DQ but you can't even use it half the time in this game

What if when you master a class you gain the ability to dress up like it regardless of your vocation

and a way to just look like your default look too would be good.

How long till the remake of DQ8?

What am I supposed to do in the postgame Memories of an Old Friend sidequest? I saved Kiefer from the monster, gave him the letter and ring, and reported back to the King, but I still can't use Zoom or leave the island of Estard, and I don't know who I'm supposed to talk to now, already tried the King again, the shrine fairy, the princess, and the MC's parents

>Beat Ogrodemir for the first time
>Party urges me to go to Hubble for the tournament
>but the Queen says that she's not ready
>Go around the world. Take care of Greta's letter, Get the greater leveler and talk to the King
>only then does the tournament start proper

well that was odd.

2017. Yes, that's it for now.

Take aishe to see the king.

Where can I get Metal King Shields?

Put Aishe in your party and talk to the King again

You get one from mini medals.

Yes just one.

Damn

Are silver shields the next best thing? That's really upsetting if that's the case

They are pretty good yeah.

>Great Leveller

I forgot about that and never got it. The hell is it even?

An MC exclusive Wave of Ice basically.

There's the Great Leveler and Greatest Leveler but I don't know what the difference is. aside from the latter costing more MP

Great leveler even removes your buffs. Greater focuses on the enemy.

Story of every job system game, really.

Bravely Default and Second actually had a dedicated costume slot in the equip screen, but the only things you could place in them were the boring normal outfits or shitty looking DLC stuff.

cancel all buffs and debuffs from party and enemy

Paladin (and probably some other classes) get a skill that's functionally the same

How do you get Greatest Leveler? I got Great Leveler a while ago, I'm in postgame shit now.

Goddamn dragon quest and its ever so subtle and not so subtle depressing stories.
>tfw seeing ellie continue to serve autonymus.

Go back to the past Magic place and talk to guy who was researching it for a cutscene. then go back to his grave in present day for the upgraded version.

Apparently there's a glitch if you see the cutscene when Maribel rejoins but since you're in post game maybe that won't happen?

I don't get why people who don't like RPG's continue to pick up RPG's and then complain that the games play like a turn based RPG....are you inbred?

I'll save before and go find out later I guess, thanks. Is there any clue about going back there after you get the regular Great Leveler? I guess I must've missed something.

Do these little island episodes end? Because if so I'll be really sad. I love the structure.

It ends just before the main game ends so don't worry too much.

Not really. I just sort of read about it earlier in this thread.

>Beat the game
>Absolutely no drive to do the postgame dungeons

Why does this always happen

Maybe because you want the game to tell you where to go? When DQ just gives you an option for more.

"You can do it if you want. Not gonna force you to. Whatever."

>fight wisely
>knuckle sandwich
>knuckle sandwich
>knuckle sandwich
>knuckle sandwich
>knuckle sandwich

FIST is always the wisest option.

I actually can't think of any fights where I used The Great Leveler besides that one Notso Macho boss that Oomphs himself. Bosses don't tend to use many self buffs, maybe the postgame shit will be different.

I hope you fought the real final boss too

Normally I like the postgame stuff but I still never got around to fighting Estark in DQ5. Fuck that guy seriously, he was enough of a dick in every other fucking game he's shown up in. I'd have to recruit some better monsters before I'd be comfortable fighting him too.

Just enjoy Maribel tonguing everything

yeah it's the best part of it.

a good way to cheese estark if you have amazing luck is having a party of metals. Dude can't really do shit to them.

Can you buy silver shields anywhere? I don't want to flip anymore cards for another 3 when they're kinda rare to show up

Crispin is kinda cool, I wish he was a party member instead of Aisha

Yeah my luck with recruiting monsters was pretty shit. I went through most of the game with a Slime Knight and whatever else I could scrounge up. Wasn't until close to the end that I managed to get two Golems back to back somehow. And then a Moosifer and an Archdemon in like the final dungeon (or were those the post-game dungeon? I forget)

Pirate ship right before endgame.

Supposedly they show up in the last armor shop but I'd rather get them now, even if it does depend insanely on luck

what

It's dragon quest. The single most generic textbook jrpg of all time. What more do you want?

But Estark is probably the easiest end game boss in DQ history. Especially if you have a Great Dragon and King Cureslime. Great Dragon could take Estark alone.

I remember never being able to afford the pirate ships shop on ps1. But here on 3ds I'm loaded, gonna clean them out

so how does the casino pay out? can you return tokens for gold?

>Can you return tokens for gold

No but you can exchange for particularly strong equipment and other things like Magic water or yggdrasil leaves.

Meh, I remember him being a pain in the ass in Joker 2 since I played that before 5. At some point I'll probably go back and take him down.

does the casino change inventory every couple of islands?

Don't think so, no. The first one is rest stop by the Alltrades Abbey; in the well. The second is much later after you restore the final blue island

and the last one is the fully completed Haven.

Isn't it ironic that Estark is easier in the game he actually came from than in any of his cameo appearances

how early can I get Melvin, again?

as soon as you get the carpet

and when do I get the carpet?

After you finish Wetlock

after you save wetlock

is there a list of all of the monsters hiding in towns that can go to the Haven?

I think there's one on the gamefaqs board. Look there.

Wait, what? I have like 30 of the damn things.

how do I get these tablets? they don't show up for me in the download bar

Memories of an Old Friend becomes available after you've beaten the game, and the other three might have been taken down early because they're gone now but three new ones are up

Is memories of an old friend permanently up? Or will it get taken down as well? I'm going really slow with the game and I don't want to miss it.

>Hate to spring it on you like this, but it looks like this is where our journey together ends

Its not fair!

Based on the nature of it I'm guessing it'll be up permanently

There's no removal date so I assume it'll be up as long as the DLC bar is up.

>use bounce against hyped up magic user
>he becomes Ruff and Mervyn's bitch

I really like how Bounce isn't like it was in 9 where you could just spam it. You have to think about who should have it because otherwise it might not be possible to efficiently heal them. Or you can do shit like redirecting party-wide spells like Kabuff to a single person.

and here are our legendary heroes, goku, goku, goku, and....

I never really did get into Dragonball Z past the Frieza saga so it doesn't affect me as much, but I see why people complain.

How many tablets can you hold?

Wind Sickles doesn't seem THAT great, why was everyone hyping it up so much before?

Thin Air is the broken one
Wind Sickles is still pretty good though, I believe it scales with your level.

Just got to champion with hero, gonna grind when I get home while watching Suits. Gonna be comfy as fuck.

Also Maribel working up to be a Summoner with Mervyn, and Ruff decimating everything in sight as a Pirate

Feels good m8

it's 60-80ish damage for free against most enemies and you can get it pretty early.

ah, that makes sense
what vocation has access to it?

Ruff as a maxed out pirate destroys everything, but I'm torn between that and maxed out monster masher. Which is best Cred Forums? I'm also going to routinely max out monster classes with Ruff too but I'm not sure about which is better

Pirate, Paladin, Godhand/Champion and Hero

Pirate, Paladin, Champion, and Hero

Wind Sickles is a generally solid free single target move though, as long as they don't resist wind. I should get around to getting it on Maribel, it probably outpaces her regular attack damage even with her best weapon at this point. Maybe after I get her done with Druid.

18 hours in and am at the greenthumb place. How much longer till alltrades?
>inb4 not even close

do these tablets last forever once downloaded?

I'm buying this game mostly love the idea of Dragon Quest and the waifus. But i only finished V on the ds. Also for some reason i own at least a copy of every main game except this. What's a good game to play before this one? Also Maribel a qt

3, I guess. You'd be fine jumping into 7 as long as you realize that it's really fucking long.

You already played DQV. Go back and play the rest of the games in release order. See how the series evolved. Plus, you'll appreciate games like DQVII and IX more after seeingthe connections to the games that came before.

>Old Man Riffer shows up just before I fight Gracos
>I can't fight, but I can help!
>starts casting boom and attacking Gracos
what a fucking retarded thing to say

What's the difference between Muster Strength and Focus Strength?
How much do they boost the damage?

there is no different. They basically double your damage. Maybe a bit more than double.

>that weakling brother shows up
>does nothing for 10 turns except cast heal on himself
>suddenly attacks and kills the boss with a critical

Well, now we know how he won his freedom.

where's the fragment on the top floor of Highendreigh Tower? It says that someone's carrying it, but the only person in the room is Old Man Riffer.

Just leave the tower and he'll hand it to you

yes

"It gets good after twenty tedious hours", the post.

If you get all the migrant tablets and download all the DLC ones you'll pretty much be out of space

I've been off of Cred Forums the past few days. Is it out in English? I thought it came out last month. The only Vita torrent I can find is Japanese.

>Vita
what?

Sorry, I'm retarded. Thought this was a Builders thread. Carry on.

Only DQ I've ever played was the Musou this(?) year and I liked the characters. That orange haired smug lookin' cutie looks like she'd have a permanent spot in my party, does she ojou-sama laugh? Is she even recruitable? I know jack shit about this but I'll probably pick it up next month.

I can't help but feel that this game would have flowed much better if it had you fixing most of the world up, then you get frozen in time or something, then wake up in the future with the consequences of your actions, and later start being able to time travel to fix the rest of the world or change things you've already done in previous areas.
In the way it is, the time travel thing seems to be revealed way too early and makes you visit the same areas twice immediately far too often just to search for mcguffins.

I think the demo is out, not sure about the main game since I don't have a Vita

Focus Strength multiplies your damage by 2 while Muster only 1.5

You mean Maribel? Yeah she's one of your first party members you get.

Maribel? She sticks around for most of the game.
She does leave your party for a little while, though, but she comes back soon after.

How much longer till jobs? Just finished greenthumb.

Does the damage formula work in favor of using Focus Strength every other turn or is it the same as if you were to attack every turn?

Wait, the game has FMVs? I didn't see one when Florin and Lala do their ceremony thing, at least.

The damage would be more or less the same. But focus strength can save your mp if the attack skill you use requires mp.

>the game sends you into the lighthouse again
WHY THE DEVS LOVED THIS DUNGEON SO MUCH
even the dwarf dungeon is so fucking boring

what level does Drake Slime grinding stop working towards vocation leveling?

No, the original PS1 game had FMVs. This version changed it to regular scenes in the game engine.

What the fuck's he talking about in that link when he mentions FMVs, then?

dragonquest7.nintendo.com/quick-start/
>165 steps to unlock jobs

I have no idea. Maybe he mixed up the PS1 and 3DS versions.

So do these open new places? What do tablets do?

Anyone know if there's a monster which learns the strongest cold breath attack? I want it on Ruff to go along with Scorch.

25

where do I go after it?

Looks like the cutscene for The Greater Leveler is fucked even in postgame if you have Maribel in your party
I'll try again with Aishe

bump

holy fuck dude just figure it for yourself

PSA: The new DLC tablet called Sticky Business or something like that is perfect for vocation grinding if you're too high for Slimetree Forest.

All the fights there can be easily wiped with a boomerang throw and give 20-30 exp, and there's no level cap.

which vocation turns Ruff's wolf into a flamethrower?

Either continue the story or experiment with other tablets. You want to fight monsters that give the least exp while still give job exp.

Monster Masher

When is this scene, and what exactly do you need to do to avoid getting screwed? I can't even imagine how angry I'd be to fuck up a 100 hour save in this game.

Really? It looks exactly the same for me.

Are you joking or actually retarded?

Basically if you go back to the Grand Wizard in Hubble after learning his spell, The Great Leveler, in the present, he freaks out that you beat him to creating the spell and vows to make an even BETTER spell. Then you check his grave again in the present and you get The Greater Leveler.

For some reason the cutscene fucks up and removes your last party member (or maybe just Maribel? Currently testing that) if you do it after you get Maribel back apparently. And then the game bugs out and shoves both your absent party members into Maribel's Room and won't let you fill your fourth empty slot again, just swap the remaining members.

The spell isn't too big of a deal since other vocations get Disruptive Wave but it's still a weird glitch.

Try casting Fire Breath you dum dum

If you do trigger this weird Maribel glitch I keep hearing about, can't you just reload your save from before it triggers? Or does it carry across saves somehow?

You can reload your save just fine, I'm fucking around with it right now to see if there's any way around it.

You guys should watch the100yengamer on twitch if you want translated Japanese games
His stream is eng/jap

I can confirm that doing that cutscene with Aishe in your party instead of Maribel you go through the cutscene normally without losing anyone. Just gonna go double check that I can get Maribel back into my party before I save though.

So do all the stuff in Hubble before getting Maribel back. I'll try to remember that, I recently got Mervyn in my party and I'm not really looking forward to losing Maribel, even if isn't permanent.

Actually see , I think as long as you do the extra events in Hubble with Aishe in your party instead of Maribel you can do it at any time. I'm in the postgame right now, I only heard about The Great Leveler from this thread. Didn't think about going back to show off The Wizz' own spell to him in the past.

>doesn't turn into a literal flamethrower
disappointing

Yeah looks like that solved it, just don't talk to The Wizz in the past with Maribel in your party. And ESPECIALLY don't overwrite your safe afterwards if you do.

>kamikaze
Why does DQ have the strangest names for spells?

In Japanese most of em are basically just sound effects, that carried over to the English versions starting with when DQ8 came out, instead of stuff like Heal and Healmore like the previous games that actually came out over here.

>tfw got a game breaking glitch and cant do the bonus dungeons

JUST

It seems to be Frightfully Cold Breath which is learned by Giga Mutant. It also learns Cold Breath which I assume is the counterpart to Inferno

It's actually quite similar to the Japanese game, which uses a lot of onomatopoeia for the spell names

What is it?

Fucking sweet. Thanks user.

One of my tablets disappeared, the one you get from the mermaid thing that you talk to scoober about

Are you sure it isn't in the inventory of the character you don't currently have in your party or something?

Kiefer was a Chad from an early age

Anyhow, I actually only started playing this game and wanted to know if I should play iv, vii, or viii next. I'm not exactly a veteran or anything, but I really liked 5 and the Monsters games. Just wanted to know which one would be the most fun.

>pretty much done with Hubble
>even got Great Leveller
>go back to shrine to place fragment
>still one left
>no fragments available to get besides Mini Medal one
What do

>Kiefer was a Chad from an early age
what the fuck is this even supposed to mean you fucking retard

Nah Ruff didn't have it. Oh well, it was worth it for Maribel telling Mervyn not to go through her drawers

Talk to king Donald or the little purple guy in the shrine

Just got to the casino, how do i do this properly?

What's with Maribel and weird glitches? Christ.

VII is the weakest of those three in my opinion.

IV has the best opening hours of the series.

As for VIII you might as well wait for the 3DS version so you don't get mad over the changes like a lot of other people here

Is there a list of the skills each monster heart gives?

Yes but it uses the names from the psx version so if you're unfamiliar with them it's a hassle

play solts or poker

Two more islands.

zing when ready

gamefaqs.com/boards/688276-dragon-quest-vii-fragments-of-the-forgotten-past/73896111

While it does use the old names, more often than not you can just look up the old names on the dragon quest wiki or something and find out what their new names
