Video link or a name? The fuck is that?

youtube.com/watch?v=4rRjQI3ZTZw

It's a Cuica.
It's a drum with a stick in the inside and you rub it with your wet fingers.

Notably in youtube.com/watch?v=tfIVPnbcDtg

Wow it's annoying

It's Brazilian so what do you expect?

I've never heard this in any vidya, and its horrible. I get the same noise pulling a straw out of fast food cup.

>It's Brazilian
That explains everything, including why it looks so stupid.

I remember hearing it in a lot of mario parties and mid-late 90's games

IT'S NOT A GUY MAKING MONKEY NOISES?

creators of the vuvuzela

it all makes sense!

it's literally a glorified soda straw.

hey thanks I was trying to remember what this was called.

It sounds like when you move a straw up and down in the cup at mcdonalds

youtube.com/watch?v=VAIYKQ-LbKA

What makes the sound at 39 seconds? I hear it a lot.

If its not fucking anoying

Synth

welcome to every asian or asian themed video game level

youtube.com/watch?v=dhic2cE57iM

>game uses stock sound effects

this shit always bugs me, but especially if its a horror/serious game, takes me right out

I'm playing silent hill 4 right now and these cat monsters make that stock wildcat roar. You know the one. You can probably hear it right now.

Sound design is very important to immersion, even if people dont notice it

there you go
youtube.com/watch?v=wZ54X-xBKrY

It's damn good too.

youtube.com/watch?v=bCodVbucTbo

I always thought that was just some monkey howl sample or something

More like the chinese place around the corner from me

that music is all they play 24/7

what other games have an indonesian gamelan ensemble?

youtube.com/watch?v=MNDMGSWfVq0

i had a cousin chip a tooth playing this instrument before.

shit it's the same exact thing

>watching random sci-fy movie
>door opens with the doom door sound effect

tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DoomDoors

Its 90% of the Goron City theme

Challenge:
Name every one of the instruments used in this song.

The guy who created the Spyro OSTs was Stewart Copeland, and I've seen dev vids of him going through the process of how he made the music in the games. He almost exclusively used soundfonts found on electric keyboards, so it's probably a stock sound from something like that.

First thing I thought of when I listened to the Arc The Lad one. I mean it's the same fucking sound. Must be some weird sound effect that Sony has buried in some sound archive.

god I fucking hate that scream.

It's actually pretty sad when you think about it. That scream was an inside joke between filmmakers for years and then it fell out of fashion and is now being used by hacks who couldn't break into Hollywood.

whom

'gonna need source my man

It never fell out of fashion. Films are still using it just as much as always.

In several of those videos it sounds so fake and added in!

Christian image board

People still use it but it's not seen as a cool wink anymore but some fag who wants to be a part of an ancient joke.

youtube.com/watch?v=ceT57a9peTQ

what the fuck harrietsugarcookie's pornos use the same exact intro

GI Joe arcade is my jam for familiar sounds. All these beautiful perfect noises

youtube.com/watch?v=njPQRNF16jo

>dem orchestra hits in the music
>the THOOM laser blast sound from the Laser Vipers
>the bottle rocket whistle as you shoot down the Cobra Condors

The only game as good for nostalgia noises is Castlevania Adventure Rebirth- AKA Orchestra Hits and Stock Noises the game

>That instrument

youtu.be/TeHqKnj86ws

>watching The Babadook
>Babadook makes the Godzilla/Megazord screech right near the end

I was actually kind of enjoying it up until that.

>the sound of my people

Babadook is an anagram of "a bad book"

I love the Konami arcade game soundfont.

youtube.com/watch?v=rQsTzeWXR60

Oh fuck, that's the thing that makes that noise? Isn't it used in a lot of the casual/village Monster Hunter songs?

God damn I used to hear that a lot in Metroid Prime Hunters
youtu.be/ErMydjOmIMs

we need to find the source of this noise

SAUCE

Seriously, if you haven't yet, play the WiiWare Rebirth games Konami made. They all use the closest to the arcade soundfont you'll ever hear in this modern age

Dayum.
youtu.be/pVUh1wJTCug?t=2409

that's where I was thinking it was from lol

At least the one from 0:39 sec is a synth sound

VERY present sound in half life 2 ost, for that matter.

ashlyn rae

Wew. That is nice.
