I have the Asus Xonar Sound Card along with the Sennheiser 595s. Music sounds amazing with it but not sure how much better or less it would be compared to what you posted. The Xonar has a built in amp.Bought back in 2010 and still rockin it.

It's a thing, but blasting your headphones for a week on max is not the way to do it, through normal use it'll be burnt in within a month, but seriously before burn-in my bass was way too low, now in a side-by-side comparison to my ath-m50s it's only marginally weaker.

Depends on how good your headphones are, I know a guy who bought a logitech headset and a $250 dac, so that right there is a complete fucking waste of money. Up to $200 worth of headphones all you need is a $20 xonar sound card, anything else is overkill, dacs are good because they're external so they don't pick up interference off the motherboard.

burn-in is literally just placebo

the only reason your sound changes over time is because you break into the earpads so they cover your head closer, explaining the improved bass. That's why things sound different when you replace your worn-out earpads after a couple years.

Fine burn-in, break-in whatever, they sounded different after a few days with diminishing returns up to about a month, maybe it was the pads, I really don't know, I assumed it was burn-in.

Maybe my ears are just shitty now (tinnitus among other things) but I can't really tell a difference plugging in my headphones into my E10K vs directly to my tower. Or maybe my bloated motherboard just has a good on-board sound.

Besides I've had good studio monitors before but you just don't get the same soundstage, playing something like alien isolation with headphones on is full blown immersion. That and there are enough times where you don't want people to hear what you're doing, like porn.
