SPD- if your SPD is high enough, you'll be able to double-attack enemies, also affects your chance to avoid enemy attacks.
LUK-affects accuracy and avoidability, and reduces enemy crit chance.
DEF-affects defense against physical attacks
RES-affects defense against magical attacks
CON- unit's weight. this affects who they can rescue or be rescued by, as well as whether or not they can shove or be shoved by a unit.

His speed almost always averages out to being 1 or 2 points behind max. I think that's a pretty good trade off for having MAX strength, def, HP, skill. He is stronger and far more tanky than Nephenee.

That's actually a localization addition, though. Treehouse actually realized how fucking doomed the Dawn Brigade were in Part 3 and in their chances of going to Endgame, so they were given crutch weapons to compensate.

Sure would've helped his self-esteem issues if they became part of some kind of development arc, rather than highlighting how much his rule was doomed to end badly.
And it really doesn't help Micaiah's image for holding so much trust in a doormat for no other reason than "because Daein". Elincia in 9 was presented as a sheltered girl little better than a figurehead in the beginning, yes, but at least she had a whole bunch of screentime to socialize and expand on her character in the earlygame, followed by learning about the people who helped raise her and climaxing in her becoming an actual unit. Pelleas never does anything interesting until 3-13 when he tries to kill himself, and only becomes a usable unit as late as fucking 4-2 because he was getting tired of being doted on by Almedha.
I actually found that part to be neat, at least.
It would be a neat contrast to Ashnard. Since Ashnard himself was far removed from royalty to begin with and scummed his way to the throne.
