I could turtle up in III too. To be honest, thats how I took down Progenitor, basically (Gladiator/Shogun and Zodiac/Gladiator were my only attackers, rest was support, including TP battery and cloned Hoplite for Antifire and Antivolt).

II was much more about aggressive gameplay, especially optional bosses.

Truth to be told, Untold have non-story mode as well, but thats just remake with rebalanced elements (like Immunize no longer reducing non-elemental damage).

It's wonderful, but I like going back and working on the map. The auto-map option saves so much time, but I have really specific ways of displaying doors, tiles, etc. I leave it on, but go back later to correct things.

Honestly speaking GS himself carries the whole story, in every thread you see the only overtly positive things said (other than how incredibly fuckable the girls are of course) are about how efficient and pragmatic he is, and truly no one could do his title more justice. I haven't read ahead so I don't know how or if the dynamic changes but in the early chapters it's all about slaughtering every last goblin without exception or mercy, in the most intelligent and effective ways possible.
