I wouldn't know, I'm still taking college classes and haven't applied for a single voice acting position out of laziness. Got the equipment though, just gotta actually get off my ass to work.

Anyway, I hear pay is pretty shit though and actually getting positions is where the actual work comes in. Might just have to keep constantly getting positions just to support myself, otherwise it's a half job that I'll have to put focus on the side as well as another job to actually support myself financially. Otherwise, fallback plan is to get into broadcasting or radio, priority job as an anchor but that's unlikely as all hell, so background work on the tech and move myself up the ranks through the years and try as hard as possible for anchoring. Live right next to WKNO TV and Radio station as well as some other station I can't remember back at home, so I got that going for me.

What the hell is a nun doing in Cred Forums? not that i dissaprove.

1st semester Junior, Bachelors of Science in Broadcasting Major and minor in theatre.

If you don't count broadcasting and theatre classes as directly voice acting related, then nothing really.

Otherwise, theatre acting does help me a bit with voice acting and the use of tone and pauses in voice, but in voice acting having directions from a director will help with that. In broadcasting we do various oddjobs like audio editing, voice recording, and we even have a radio drama project set up, but again, it's not meant to help with just voice acting. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge benefit though to know how to use the programs and record your lines.

If you mean is it worth going to college for just voice acting, absolutely not. It's like drawing art, you can graduate from High School and still be really good without ever going to college.

If you mean it's worth getting into voice acting in the first place, I'll tell you what I know about it: it's extremely cut throat. There will always be thousands of voice actors gunning for every position that could be available, and being an unknown makes it all the more harder to get a spot. Priority at that point is becoming recognized, so do as many spots as possible at every given moment and do your hardest. Never take a break, always work; voice acting itself is easy, getting the job is the hardest part.

Anyway, I have no experience in this work field, so really basic, beginner's advice is all I can offer, I'm sorry. But if you're wanting to get into voice acting, I do wish you the best of luck.
