Game gets a sequel

>Game gets a sequel
>It's only canon from the first games "bad ending"

But Nier is great?

XCom 2?

Name 5 games that do this.

>Game gets a sequel
>Recons the last game ending
FUCKING YOU SS

XCOM 2 was great though

>Game gets a sequel
>none of the previous endings are canon

metal gear solid 1

>light hearted game gets a heady sequel that explores the dark consequences of your whimsical antics in the former
>sequel is still relatively light hearted and colorful given the subject matter
>fans of the original violently shit on the sequel because muh cast rather than just embracing two uniquely fantastic games

>XCOM lost
Still doesn't make any damn sense.

Mankind Divided

Infamous 2 was awesome though.

As was the first one.

Megaman X 6

Infamous I assume?

What is Deus Ex Mankind Divided

...

I enjoyed Infamous 2 more
I just hated Cole's new voice actor.

Why wouldn't it? Their tech is advanced af. I like to imagine the ayys just sent out nothing but Sectopods and Mechtoids in the first month and raped XCOM into the dirt

(You)

The ending for Xcom was so retarded, they decided they fucked it up, and decided to go with a point most people gave up on the game, which was failing somewhere in the middle.

I mean

there would be no other way to create a sequel otherwise

>There will never be an alternate version of last light where the dark ones and Russians work together to fight a new threat from beyond the metro
>Metro:New light,never ever.

Infamous 2 ending was perfect for ending the series. There didn't need to be sequel

Really? I actually preferred Cole in 2, he came off like way less of a broody asshole.

SMTIV A

I don't disagree. I think they just wanted to explore that type of world more.

The only game that qualifies that's coming to mind is Blood Omen.

And in retrospect, it was the better ending anyway.

Dead Rising 2

They knew it'd be the only way to finally interact with sneks.

Nier

Xcom 2

Army of Two: Devils cartel

That's 3 right there. I'm positive there are more. And that's not counting the Zelda games bad ending timeline sequels.

Name one non-RPG game which does this

>game ends well enough with seemingly no room for a sequel
>sequel
The fucking credit roll in dishonored one said corvo was fucking dead and that was fine, buried next to his dead ass wife so sweet the end. Why you gotta ruin this shit

The Walking Dead

Shadow hearts 2

Infamous didn't even do it the worst.

>game has the biggest sequel hook in existence
>no fucking sequel

I like Second Son, but it definitely shot itself in the foot too much

>pic
Soon.

Blood Omen

They didn't ruin the end.
The sequel just takes place before the end.

Oh shit it's that "edgy infamous" game I can't remember the name of

Metro 2033 -> last light

what game?

>First game makes a point of saying that if the Ayys really wanted to they could easily wipe us out
>Somehow surprised when they go with that premise the second game

It's easier for them to say we lost so we have to progress again, rather than have us at max tech at the start of the sequel.

I assume Chrono Cross. Though it still sucks that your party from the first game was killed. And apparently by Dalton.

But they're all canon.

>Game has a cliffhanger ending
>there's no sequel

UFO Aftershock and Afterlight

Prototype 2.

Bioshock 2

It's not even really a sequel, it has nothing to do with Cole.

New character and it expanded on the gameplay.

What's wrong?

>there are people who dont clone vipers/rescue viper defectors
>there are people who will never ever be able to do so
sucks to be you console fags

5 games. Done.

Next?

Jackie Chan

I know that pain only too well...

Might and Magic 8?

>Game has a cliffhanger ending
>there IS a sequel
>premise is entirely different, the cliffhanger is hand-waved

Mostly my problem is the power diluting. I like the powers in the game, but they all kind of get reduced to being overly simple since there's three you use in the main story.

Then concrete was shit despite seeing so much cool things done by Augustine ingame.

And paper was a huge cocktease.

But Infamous SS was still super fun and I love it

Name 156 games that do this.

the devs said that they looked at the player data and realized that the majority of players never finished the game, meaning for a majority of the playerbase the commander suddenly disappearing and XCOM being lost without his direction WAS canon.

stream it

Invisible War?

Name 5 kinds of pasta

Last Light used the canon ending from the book which fit 100 times more with the theme of hopelessness. The happy ending to 2033 was laughable.

Fucking Unteralterbach

Stream it fag

what? meryl being alive is canon

>Pic Related

Let's hope for the best, user.

RIP Mako

Everything points to the sequel being good but it just won't be the same without him.

There were things I didn't need to be reminded of

That was one of them

Venom: Ultimate Destruction

Gnocchi
Farfalle
Bucatini
Penne
Jackie Chan

Shadow Hearts.

>Game gets a sequel
> All endings are cannon

>game gets a sequel
>it assumes you haven't played the first game and gives you tutorials through the entire thing
>almost nothing from the first game comes back for the sequel

But they choose the happy ending of last light for the future of both books and the series...

fuck metro for doing that

Fucking elder scrolls
>lol what if we just say every ending is canon by saying that the Numidium causes time warps

>game ends on a sequel hook
>almost doesn't get a sequel
>but did when fans rallied for one
>game comes out and it's disappointing

Chrono Cross was shit.

Better version.

youtube.com/watch?v=f9spft2_Xh4

Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like tiny fragile shells
Drifting in the foam

you're shit.

KAIN REFUSED THE SACRIFICE. *BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW*

That goes for any game really, Take a look a achievements for any game, The achievement for completion would only be like 5-20% in most cases

And no one besides me even cares.

Fucking Darkness 2

The second half of the game was total garbo and the first half wasn't good enough to save it.

C ending is happy user :^)
check out ending E which C leads directly to

I'm pretty sure I scrolled past this like 100 times when looking through the PS1 classics on PSN and I've never had the urge to play it a single time.

It's fun. Not Square's best, but a good action RPG with fun gameplay and pretty entertaining characters.

>sequel tries to put you in a tutorial to learn to use your magic
>you already know how to do it from the previous two games already
>use your magic to move the rock before the game can instruct you
>game acknowledges you did it but then puts the rock back in place so it can instruct you properly

fucking Golden Sun

Dark Souls lore confuses the shit out of me, but isn't this what DSIII does?

>use your magic to move the rock before the game can instruct you
>game acknowledges you did it but then puts the rock back in place so it can instruct you properly
>fucking Golden Sun
ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS
Get the flying fuck out, Camelot. That is horseshit.
Goddamn, shit like this makes me almost NOT want them to touch the Shining franchise again.

Fucking what?

The first 2 Golden Sun games are some of my favorite games but Dark Dawn disappointed me so much

...

>it assumes you haven't played the first game and gives you tutorials through the entire thing
Or the second game
Or the third game
Or the fourth game
Or the fifth game
Battle Network says hi

>Game has a cliffhanger ending
>there is a sequel
>it never gets released outside of japan

prototype came out before infamous you faggot

...

That's the good ending, Kain just didn't know it.

>never gets released outside of japan
i am ok with this

999>ZTD>VLR
Just saying

>Game has a secret ending that teases a sequel
>The sequel comes out and has absolutely nothing to do with the ending

It could've gone either way really.

>A character's canon ending is the bad ending
Nice

Painkiller.

>Devil's Cartel
Wow I thought I was the only person that played that garbage.

How did 40th Day even lead into it? I swear that game ended with you nuking Shanghai

>Game explicitly says that everything is canon because of multiple universe bullshit
>People online still argue about what is and isn't canon

Legacy of Kain series.

The continuation of the series (Soul Reaver 1/2, Defiance) are based solely on the bad ending to the first game in the series, Blood Omen, in which the player chooses at the very end of the game to either sacrifice themselves to restore Nosgoth or rule it as a vampire as the world crumbles.

There's no good or bad ending for Dark Souls just 2 endings

InFamous 2 went off the first game's good ending, second son also went from InFamous 2's good ending although altered

Fucking Witcher 3

My nigga

> Other games are based on the different ending

It is cool, but can make the stories convoluted.

I wanna fuck that rabbit

but the both the good and the bad endings of the first game become canon in the 2nd.

Fuckin' Conduit 2! Like they NEED to make a sequel just so they can explain that bullshit

The bad ending is canon, you dingus. Unless you think all of the Dark Ones being dead for the first 90% of the game was a coincidence.

>game does well
>it gets a sequel
>and another
>and another
>and another
>and another
>and once again, another
>but this one comes with another call of duty packaged with it too also

daily reminder we are unironically getting a call of duty thirteen, and even more to come

>tfw CoD will outlive you

>CoD has already outlived anons

>tfw liquid VR CoD will be injected into our heads as we're kept alive by cybernetic enhancements against our will to test fish physics for Activision in 150 years

>Game has a bad ending
>You can buy it in the game's shop to view it again
>It refers to it as the "Normal ending"
>No sequel to verify the canon

Fucking Bomberman

>game has 2 endings
>both get their own series of sequels and universes

I have out lived CoD
>that feel please kill me

What game? That sounds pretty cool.

>final boss never actually fights you and escapes
>no sequel at all

Guess the game

Command and Conquer Red Alert.
Soviet victory leads to Tiberium series
Allied victory to Red Alert 2.
Generals is not related story wise, but the gameplay is great, and it surprisingly hit the mark on the factions 10 years in advance (China, Isis and USA)

...

>Game with multiple endings
>only D is canon.

Sorta, Drakengaard splits into the Drakengaard series and the Nier series. The first game has 5 endings though.

It was also the point of the the Zelda Hyrule Historia artbook, the series being divided into 3 depending on the outcome of Ocarina of Time.

Its the one where Salem shoots the general not caring if he had a dead switch to the nuke. He stopped caring for the right thing to do but just whatever he wanted to do.

God of War did this

They did do a game leading on from the first game's secret ending like 6 years later but it was on the PSP so I never played it
