Only skilled players behave in a way significantly different to the AI since their ship designs are radically different (arguably broken with all the 1-hit kills), so it barely matters that there's no one to do multiplayer with.

As for whether it is good; it's definitely good value for money in terms of the gameplay you get.
It's past even Magicka and mods of Starsector in terms of how chaotic and strange the fights get.

The graphics are practical but prepare for a lot of reused assets; what is a "garbage truck" in one scene is a "war scow" in another.

And the story; there's strangely little of it considering that the game is the prequel to a book, most of the game is nonsense like selling Dvorak keyboards by force and blowing up shipments of onion rings.

Well Cred Forums complains video games are shit nowadays and Ring Runner is a non-shit video game.
People say they don't want to be babysat by games and given a very limited range of things they can do, and they want to be challenged instead.
By that description Ring Runner would be the perfect game for them; the dev just decided to give players a bajillion weird components to build spaceships with and give almost no advice on making effective spaceships (probably because he couldn't himself); but only 19.2% of players manage to beat the first galaxy; due to how often games get bought but not played nowadays the typical frequency with which the first section of a game is completed is 50%, which means that 60% of players fucking suck at the game that matches their dream description.

It's quite something landing thousand-damage hits with ease in a game where shitters can barely manage hundred-damage hits.
