I don't really go to parties because people are bound by norms to do the things I previously listed. I can understand the fun behind hanging out and having fun with people, but why would you mix alcohol or drugs into that stuff? You don't need any of those to have fun. You only risk your drinking getting out of hand, which may lead into fights, or other stupid things you could've prevented from happening if you still had some self-control.

Why do so few games allow us to smoke cigarettes? Especially Fallout - our companions smoke like chimneys and there are cigs lying everywhere, yet we can't light up without a mod.

Drunk drivers, alcoholism, family violence, saying stupid things that drive people away from you. The reason for all this is almost always alcohol. Smoking's just pants-on-head retarded because there's no arguable benefit from it. It's disgusting and gives you cancer.

You gloss over the most important keyword there: some.

Unless you seriously think literally everyone who ever drinks alcohol is a useless drunkard alcoholic, which even you must admit is ludicrous, then it stands to reason that there are also people capable of drinking a moderate amount of alcohol. Enough of it to become a social lubricant, but not enough that you lose your inhibitions or do stupid shit. There is the middle ground which you are completely ignoring in favour of the extremes
