I might get one because I think they're adorable & the price tag is reasonable. I usually use my PSP to emulate NES games these days, but it looks like a real friggin neato thing to have. I'm not dead set on it. I would definitely get one if they get cracked & you can put any NES game on there. See how things pan out. Especially when the initial rush for people to get them dies down & it's not the hot holiday item.

Coolrom has a list of legit emulators. For any system that isn't disc based its as easy as downloading the emulator, downloading the game rom, and then starting it up. Takes less than 5 minutes, any retard who can post on this site is capable of doing this.

The way people are defending this product by saying "fuck you, I don't want to play with emulators and roms" is strange. The NES Mini IS an emulator and roms. It is a product aimed only at casuals and Nintendo collectors. Why would you get this when there are literally superior options for doing the exact same thing the NES mini does? You can just get a Raspberry Pi and play ALL the NES games you want. You could just buy a NES and a flashcart and play every NES game that way. You could homebrew a Wii and play not just NES games, but almost any games from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation.

I kind of like this because I find myself wondering about the future generation of gamers from time to time and one subject I'd often consider is what to introduce a potential niece or nephew to for video games. This seems like a perfectly fine thing to pull out and show them as a "gamer's starter kit" Or maybe not a starter kit, but I can see a 7-12 year old getting interested enough in something like this if they really seem to like video games beyond GTA. I used to just like Super Mario World and Sonic the Hedgehog so I got my start just running and jumping on shit but then one day my dad introduces a NES with a box of games and I got introduced to Ninja Gaiden, Dragon Quest/Warrior, Metroid, and it's where I also got particularly into Super Mario Bros 3.
