You stopped before Symphogear really kicks off. The first series starts slow until it finds the tone it really wants (like Nanoha). After episode 5 it just starts ramping up every episode and Hibiki learns to stop being useless. The finale is hype as fuck.

Seasons 2 and 3 both have amazing first episodes, but are otherwise kind of a clusterfuck. Season 2 is a hard to predict roller-coaster with some great episodes. Season 3 has some good episodes but the obligatory drama (especially on characters who are meant to have resolved their angst) gets really annoying. It also has a bunch of episodes after the mid-season that are basically just villain of the week that only serve to pad out the plot.

Symphogear is fun, but it's kind of a over the top fun that you have to turn you brain off for.

I feel the same way, honestly. I just don't care about the characters. They're all cute designs, but...that's it. There's nothing compelling about them at the core, and it uses generic anime drama that tries to say a lot but says actually ultimately very little in its essence. The designs remind me of Otomedius.

It had several good moments but it managed to fuck up almost everything that matters. Fate and the Wolkenritter were completely shit on. Character bloat was out in full force and despite having 26 episodes they managed to shit away something like 8-10 of them on training bullshit while neglecting the new villain team the Numbers. StrikerS was a mess.

You know, I'd be all for a relatively slow paced flying delivery/courier styled game, where you fly on a broom to get from location to location, delivering wares that people want to deliver within a realized city on a sea side coast.

Weather will impact your ability to deliver and either make things mildly inconvenient for you (i.e. rain) or make things incredibly hectic (i.e. a storm). Seasons will have different sort of weathers making things a bit more challenging.

The items you deliver will also affect the overall weight and affect how easily you're affected by the wind (or not) and how easily you'll be able to speed up or slow down due to inertia.

Flying wildlife will also be abundant, but there will be some that will target you because of rival witches or because they're just complete utter assholes (a la geese) or because you become an utter asshole witch chucking fireballs at passing wildlife, thinking you can get away with it.

What constitutes second half? I just go to the beach scene with everyone having a grand ol' time with their disabilities and I'm just starting to have to force myself to finish the episodes.

The second half starts with the episode after that one, actually.

It was really, really good. It has a great sense of aesthetics, and 2d drawn anime wishes it could have fight scenes half as well done. The special effects are amazing, too.

The beach episode is where it all started to kick in then from that point it was fun watching the community split into people who love despair and those who just went in for a slice of life.

The strange shift really helped the build up of tension. It's a shame because there is no way the final episode could have delivered.

To be honest there are a lot of anime that I think I only enjoyed because I watched them with Cred Forums every week.

You can also form friendships with the residents of the city, form partnerships or even rivalries with other witches, participate in town festivals, learn to fish, learn to hunt wildlife, find a resident qt that you could eventually romance, marry and maybe hold hands together if you're into that sort of thing.

All the while having a relaxed soundtrack to listen to while doing these sorts of things.

if you're expecting something zany, unusual, or life-changing, you're looking for the wrong show. if you're looking for a charming, fun, and well-executed mahou shoujo show with great character development slice of life overtones and romance/romcom elements from time to time, you're in the right place.

first season: lots of filler and nothing really progresses until like 20 episodes in, but if you like cute girls capturing cute cards, you'll enjoy it
also most of the filler isn't very good compared to the non-filler.
first season is objectively the worst and most of the filler was made because the manga hadn't been finished and they sometimes had to wait for stuff to be written before they could adapt it. seasons 2 and 3 were made after the manga finished so they didn't have this problem.
second season: like ten or fifteen episodes of continuation on s1 that is very low filler and generally high quality, with some more progression.
third season: different premise but basically same execution. way more progression as far as character development and interaction. great stuff. the... second? third? to last episode, i think it's like 68, is one of my favorite episodes of anything ever. it's really stuck with me and i haven't seen the show in years now.

skip the first movie unless you really just want more stuff to watch. it's pure filler.
watch the second movie after the last episode of the series. it's great and non-filler.

You have no idea how much thought I've put into how I'd go about making such a thing. Sailor Moon would work so well in the VN/RPG format because it's just packed full of potentially fantastic character interactions and choices that lead to crazy interesting consequences. You could incorporate all the best scenes and plotlines from all the adaptations and then some and explore the various possible relationships.

disagree completely. your personal tastes aside, there's way more to mahou shoujo than that. plenty of great mahou shoujo series either don't have yuri or it's not a focus. my favorite series, ccs, only has unrequited yuri and one of the main themes of the series is that love doesn't (or shouldn't) have borders and that if two people love each other, nothing else should matter, including what gender they are.

if all you care about is two women falling in love, you'd be better served by dime-store romances and doujins with the "yuri" tag.

I wish it did, man. Do not waste your time with it, it's not worth it.

It starts off slow and MOTWish, but once you get to the second half, you will be amazed. It's writing Urobitchy and Ikuhacka WISH they could do.

I still liked Utena nonetheless but Penguindrum and his other nonSM series were kind of a letdown.

Most of them are self contained, but yeah, Pretty Cure is a huge franchise and most of those are like 48 episode series. Not even including the films either.

That said, the key thing to remember about Precure is that the target demographic still includes 8-13 year old girls as well as the usual 20+ boys.

Like I said, I only watched the original, I hear some of the others are pretty good but it depends on how goofy you want to go.

Precure has good action sequences, but it tends to be very episodic with villains of the weak and a moral in each episode. They usually take a bit of time to set the situation up, then you get some pretty nice plot. Fights tend to be really good until the girls decide they want to win and just pull out the stock footage combo move.

It's a odd experience.

You could explore Jupiter's past as a gang member and what happened with her sempai (and have him actually be part of the plot). You could have Ami travel to Europe to meet her father. Anything you could think of.

Rebellion is the near-perfect finale, it winds up the loose ends the main series had. It has a few flaws but they're pretty minor and don't actually interfere with the point. It's definitely worth watching.

For example Sakura and Madokami wouldn't even be able to interact at all, Madoka as a pure concept can't be classified as "strong" in any conventional sense. She exists outside the logos of the universe entirely which is the point, you could say she's infinitely strong when it comes to her chosen task (saving magical girls from witchification) but conversely her sacrifice was she can't interact or even have her existence confirmed in any other way.

Of course more fundamentally none of these magical girls in their final forms would ever fight anyway, they'd all recognize each other's choices and separate goals and not get involved/take sides.
