Dead End Road is fucking amazing for a comfy+scary cheap little indie game. Its like legit $2 on steam.

Lots of replay value. Will give you about 3-6 hours.

The controls and camera are of their time, but the charm of Gallowmere and its inhabitants are timeless. I'm hard pressed to name better outright Halloween-y games. Plus, it's not that long of a game, maybe 6 to 8 hours on first playthrough?

I got Thief 1 and 2 and Silent Hill 1/3/4 All lined up this month.

Played 2 enough that no need for another, its by far my favorite and a legit masterpiece but 1 and 3 are much more fun to actually play gameplay wise.

Actually, L'Arsene and A Better Tomorrow do have him talking. But they're imitation voice actors. The important part is that they share the same bleak outlook with intention for survival, while still having a slight sense of humor.

Telling you now, 4 is divisive as all hell. I think it's a better survival horror game mechanically than its predecessors, plus the room as an element is handled masterfully. But the pacing takes a major hit in the back half due to some very questionable design choices. I think it's still worth playing but it does have its critics for sure, and fairly so.

Only the first Fear and the expacs for it are actually worth playing even.

The only "comfy" horror game I can think of, and possibly the only on it existence is 7 Days to Die. There is nothing comfier than spending the first night hunkering on the top floor of a boarded up house and crafting/scrapping your days haul to the lit of your friend roasting dinner over the camp fire. The horror aspect comes when a pack of zombies hears you or smells your campfire and twenty of them rip down the front door and anything else in their way to sprint up the the stairs and rip you a new one. If you're fast enough you might hear them in time to leap out the window and run off into the dark woods to hunker behind a tree or rock when your stamina bar runs out and hope to god you've put enough distance between you and the zombies that they've lost your scent.

Also that comfy feel when you break into a big empty building and sleep on the top floor so far above the ground only hordes could find you.

Im aware how divisive it is. I know it sadly becomes a backtrack escortathon through invincible enemies.

Im going in more for the gameplay+story and the gameplay is a lot more survival so far, just got the forest world and my 9 iron broke which I had no idea was possible and I have hardly found ANY health compared to 1-3, especially 2 which is easymode(but best imo)

Its still part of Team Silent so its gonna be good regardless, just probably not as good as 1-3.

I fucking LOVE the room mechanic, I got it working on PC so I use controller during gameplay, and mouse+keyboard in the room and its fantastic, sadly I spoiled myself on hauntings years ago but dont know the game mechanics around them and kinda forget a handful of them. Sadly I do know at one point you can get an item that if you keep in the room is essentially doom.

DS1 is the best, its RE4 in space.

DS2 is a great game overall but focuses on action and slopping writing because Issac now has a voice, Issac shouldnt have been the protag, he never should have talked, he became generic. That said its a great game with some really good additions but a lot less subtle than 1.

DS3 is the RE5 of the series. Backwards design choices, action focused 100% but not being self-aware like RE6(nor as good)

Sure, you're in for a good time.
1) Live in prefabs (random gen houses) for free easy to fortify bases.
2) avoid snow/burning/city/suburban biomes until you're well established. Stick to plains, forests, and maybe deserts if you can find a good water source.
3) the easiest way to get food is hunting deers and pigs. Pigs you can just chase with a stick smacking them, deer are fast so I recommend landing a stealth arrow on them and following them until bleed out, or land another arrow if they don't. Be wary though, zombies can smell raw meat in your inventory so make sure to move it to a container asap if you don't want geusts.
4) Melee fighting zombies is risky as they can stun or infect you. The best method is to dodge in and out of their range clubbing them on the head. Zombies can be knocked down so smack fallen zombies on the head a few times before looting to make sure they don't get up again
5) zombies sprint at night, never leave your base at night. A sound played when night begins and ends so there's no speculation when it's safe.
6) Everything is destroyable a-la-minecraft but underground bases are time-consuming, resource intensive, and prone to lethal collapses.
7) as of the last build honey cures infection for some reason so rummage through hollow tree-stumps whenever you can.
8) The more you craft something the better you get at it, if you play with friends divide tasks so everyone focuses on leveling one skill. So basically communism.
9) if you're chilling in you house crafting one quiet night and you hear what sounds like hundreds of people shuffling outside sit down, shut up, and stop whatever your doing until they pass. Get to an upper level if possible and if you hear them breaking stuff when you're not sensed ignore it, they just got stuck on something.
