No it's not true. Your level only influences matchmaking.

you get cards to make a loadout. You start with 5 unlocked out of 20-ish per character. You pick 5 cards to buff your abilities and tweak your playstyle. Think of them as LoL runes except more fine-tuned to each specific char.

So you have to get those cards from drops (grind) or buy them with currency (grind).

Go in the firing range and you'll find that hitting characters is easier if you shoot them off of their sides, but shots from many attacks, mainly hitscan weapons, will actually miss if you fire just over their heads. Additionally headshot hitboxes are actually kind of small relative to the rest of the body.

Hitboxes in this game are huge but they are wider than they are tall. Grover's axes are just massive like Hanzo arrows.

That's because Grover's axes themselves are fucking enormous. Try doing that with Kinessa's rifle, you won't get the same result. It's also worth noting that it's more noticeable against smaller characters. Larger ones like Fernando seem to have more accurate hitboxes. See Notice how his aim is about level with Ying's head.

You shouldn't be missing with Buck given that he uses a high spread shotgun against targets with wide hitboxes.

Buck is hard as shit to miss with man, I don't know what to tell you. The game's hitboxes are pretty fucky and Paladins is lacking in polish in general, but despite its problems I do find it pretty fun to play, more than I do Overwatch and I played that a fair amount before I got sick of it.

Did some experimentation and that user was right; the vertical hitbox isn't as fucked up as the horizontal one. See the burn in the wall? that's the minimal distance where I can fire without doing damage to the character.

I've seen it happens as well, but most of the time when I tried stuff like that I would miss so I thought it has more to do with the lag rather than hitboxes being xbox huge.
People are pretty stupid and often stop to aim and shoot, so I had plenty of situations where I would have to aim precisely to hit them with Victor.

And they called me a shitposter. Like I said, Grover and Cassie, both projectile users, have fuckmassive projectiles so the webms make the hitboxes look taller than they actually are. Hitscan characters are less forgiving when aiming and at least have to have their crosshairs level with the enemy's physical body.

Have you tried to edit the loadout of your hero you use? The ult is not a PRESS E TO WIN, there are items in the match that counter each hero skill and loadouts to optimize your playstyle and skills

Anyway, In-game they aren't as bad as they're in the training room; you actually have to hit the enemy. This is the farthest I got before I stopped making damage.
Probably they're like that in the training room because they're intended to "simulate" bad ping.

In addition to waht other anons said, amassing gold is quite easy since each time you level up a hero you're rewarded with 500 gold and above level 10 you get 1000 gold, add that with match gold and you could quickly get a lot of golds

For what purpose? I tried it and the diffrence is so tiny i was absolutely stunned when i heard people saying its way too good of a card. It's a fucking crutch for people who never played fps in their life.

In the early closed beta a lot of loadouts were broken as fuck
Cassie's blast shot had a card that instead of one arrow, you shot 3 arrows.
That and the card that reduce cooldown for every enemy hit and heal for every hit were broken as shit

the game modes are very different and all maps are new while most old ones seem to be gone.
it feels much faster and the time to kill is shorter.
i did have to buy Bomb King and lizard man with gold, no idea why those and not the rest.
i prefered the capture gamemode when it was 3 points that kept switching.
i also liked the sudden death mode that had 1 capture point, 1 life and incomming death fog once time runs out, but really with the new increased damage it would not work with that mode.
it feels like somewhat of a new game, and Bomb King is really fucking fun.

You'll probably like it, can't say if you'll like it more than OW but the ultimates are a lot more subdued in comparison. Skye's ult is the one that makes shitters squeal in agony but it can be played around pretty easily, just break line of sight with the bomb, same as D.Va's ult.

if you have nothing else to play then you might as well give this mediocre free game a try.

you can unlock all heroes and cards (and most outfits) with pure gold. only some outfits are gem-only but you can still farm gems by logging on daily.

My problem with people going "Lol it's just cosmetics" for Overwatch is it's obvious that that's where Blizzard's focusing, just like when they made the auction house for Diablo 3.

Summer event had the shittiest itteration of their loot crates by a mile and if you didn't care about cosmetics, then all you got was Lucio Ball and no other brawl for 3 weeks.

New characters come out at a trickle and Blizzard treats them like a gracious present when they were specified as part of the buying price. And they've only really been touching Competitive because they can make money from the eSports scene potentially.

The game has been out for how long and we still can't even select a map for quickplay or save/export highlights, because those don't make money even though it's laughable they're not basic features.

Overwatch characters are archetypes, but the character designs are original.

They are all archetypes, they all have existing personality structures, but that's okay.
You can't hope to write anything close to deep characters in a multiplayer-only game, so they just kept it simple, and decided to work around that simplicity, and that made those characters work and be liked.

TF2 was also really cheap and allowed for much more customization. People also commonly say it went to shit when microtransactions and the hat craze took over. OW just made the jump there that much faster.

I played this game back when it was in closed beta. Overwatch wasn't out yet at that point, so it was alright to have a somewhat similar experience. Then they changed a bunch of mechanics, like removing the leveling up of skills during matches, and how the cards and decks worked. Then they changed it again. And presumably again. They removed entire game modes and maps now from what I've seen. Seems like Hi-Rez has no clue what to do with this game. There's also less characters and the overall experience is just not as polished as Overwatch. So why play it? I guess it has some decent waifus and the bomb bloke, but other than that it's just shitty.

I've done this before and it was casually ignored (as expected) but have a free (You) on the house.

1 - The classes are pretty tightly balanced right now, no one character really feels hopeless or out of place.

2 - The low TTK, the fast cap rate of objectives, and all of the characters having movement options allow for a reasonably fast paced game.

3 - The maps being tight, but open allow for flanking and accommodate the movement options that the characters have.

4 - Cards give you a degree of customization to characters and the item purchasing gives you the ability to address enemy comps as they appear while allowing you to generally stick to characters that you enjoy.

5 - I fucking love elf sluts.

I own Overwatch, I don't really care for it. Partly because the characters I do like suck dick but still.

What the loadouts do is not a just SKILL EFFECT changes, it actually give a different playstyle for each hero, see the basic loadout and the magical girl loadouts, see how different the card affects the skills and how you would play it with each loadouts. The only stat changer is the in match items, which is used to counter the enemy hero skills, and you need to upgrade it to be more effective or you could just buy to add another effect

Well judging by how this update alone brought more menu options for cosmetics, I'm guessing they're not adding too many more special skins until they finish the UI.

If you look at Smite, they have all kinds of different skins, and they're basically using the same business model as that game but with more customization.

No, its the oppersite. The starting heroes are all top tier with basic loadouts usually optimal. The unlocked characters are lower tier with shit cards so you need to pump in more than expected. Its pay2notbetryhard
