Also it's confirmed info that the slowdown in menus is more severe in US version of the game.
Turning WiFi off completely nullifies the issue in EU version, not sure about US.

Getting rid of them was the right idea. Considering how much you have to back track to the temple for the rest of the game, not having to go through a bunch of shit saves a ton of time.

I found the menu is a lot better on my cousin's 2DS than my 3DS XL.

They could've put the puzzles where you find the fragments in the 3DS version. I actually thought that was what they were going to do, but I was disappointed to see that it was just a damn button to press. Oh well.

Every time you move the cursor in the US version, the game has a micro stutter. It freezes for a fraction of a second. Every time. This causes what feels like lag in the menu. In battle there is slowdown whenever something flashy happens and sometimes when you are in the sub menu for spells and abilities. This can be fixed by forcing the N3DS to use it's higher core clock, but this game runs fines on the O3DS. This is a product of the shoddy translation/localization.

My pirated DQ7 (EU version) runs fine on my EU O3DS. No slowdown.

I'm not using 3D effect though I don't think it should impact performance since 3D turns off anti-aliasing in DQ7. I prefer to sacrifice 3D for anti-aliasing since 3D is a shitty gimmick but AA is not.

Bad enough that sticking with the Japanese version would make more sense or just a minor inconvenience?

Man I really wish you could see how the party interacted with each other, they're all such different characters that it'd be too amusing to see how they act toward NPCs and to each other, without getting a single one liner from pressing B, which very rarely gets a reply from someone else in the party.

This is one thing I really enjoy about DQVIII, watching Yangus and King Trode argue, as well as Jessica and Angelo interacting during cut scenes really added an extra depth for me.

Party chat has been getting more and more fleshed out with every game, I bet DQXI will have a lot of interaction within the party like DQ8 did.

What are monster hearts used for? I have a bunch of Slime ones.
When do I unlock classes? I just did the island with the robots.

When you put a monster heart in your inventory, that character can change into that monster class when you finally unlock classes. The skills you get from monster classes are permanent, unlike intermediate and advanced classes. I forget when you unlock classes. I think you are pretty close.

Go back in time and show the wizz your cool new spell.

to add onto what the other user said about monster classes, you can't reuse hearts so if you want 2 characters to use the slime class you'd need 2 slime hearts.

if I recall, monster classes also work like normal classes in that maxing out some will unlock intermediary classes

like mastering Slime and Lizardman will get you Drakeslime class.

The 100 coin machines don't have any wit two rows of 7s but they're still faster money makers. Melons on the 100 coin slots are equivalent to 7s on the 10 coin slots.

I'm trying my best to enjoy the game, just finished the emberdale scenation, but...

-dungeons are just corridors with multiple floors and a few chests every now and then
-no random encounters is pointless, said corridors are so narrow that you can hardly ever avoid the monsters
-every encounter is just pressing the attack button, monsters don't have any sort of variety
-speaking of the monsters, their design is so uninspired and boring, and you just battle the same ones over and over, if I'm in a volcano, can I expect to fight some fire-related beasts? No, I get to fight the same bird and cat-like thing I've been fighting outside the dungeon
-Fragment concept is great, but the fact that you HAVE to find them in a certain order is pointless, it would be much better if you could go after them in any order you wanted
-Plot doesn't seem to be going anywhere, just fixing islands in the past to help them appear in the future

Am I going to enjoy this game? Someone told me it's one of these "it gets better after 20 hours" shit

What's the gameplay like in DQX? is it grindy as fuck like most MMOs? I remember the only other MMO I was interested in was Imagine, and I remember running back and forth between a tree and the town so I could sell tires, and as you can probably tell, it didn't last very long

It actually does since you get jobs at that point (so you do more than spam attack), and later on the world opens up a bit so you have more freedom on which order you do shit.

Just keep playing. Trust me and the magic may click with you eventually.

Blade of ultimate power also works on metal enemies. So you don't have to rely on low hit chance critical moves when farming.

Yes, it still does the normal damage. Add in Square enix's mannequin dlc and you have easy exp.

visit his grave in the present (you have go through that puzzle that opens the staircase in that little pond)
then teach it to him in the past
revisit his grave again in the present

make sure maribel isn't in your party when you teach him the spell in the past though since that initiates a game breaking bug that forces you to use 3 max in that save file though
