>inb4 "consoles"

yes and what point are you trying to make?

are you retarded?

>buying it for PS4 when it has no mods and even the PC version suffers from ass optimisation

For what purpose?

Heard it wasn't bad - it's not like Fallout 4 is it

I thought 30 FPS was all you needed?

so much slow down anytime anything happens. blow a hole in a wall? 10fps. load times are bloodborne level bad.

It's the same way on PC

How are there not performance fixes for the PC version yet?

im not sure if the optimization is terrible or if they just ask too much of the engine

either way the game runs like shit

Nah, it's been decently optimized since launch. You're bound to suffer some very annoying glitches though, like getting shot through the floor or some really wonky LoS.

they used Unreal 3 for consoles didnt they? And 4 for PC?

And since they couldn't figure out the issues with flying and LoS, they just took it out for 2?

I was thinking about getting this game but I'm not sure if my PC could handle it, I have a GTX 960. Should I get it?

again what is the point of this shit thread?

firaxis are never going to patch it because its supposed to run at 30-60fps and it does on pc. this is where they make their money.

Kinda. There's destructible floors this time around but the amount of flying enemies has been trimmed a bit, and most attempt to melee you instead of just shooting.

There's nothing more infuriating than getting shot from fog of war, from a lower elevation, and the floor collapsing under your feet, which does guaranteed damage and leaves your soldier defenseless. I can't imagine playing this game without the LoS preview mods, which tell you what you can see and who can see you everytime you hover on a cell before moving.

i guess it will run fine.
but even very powerfull systems seem to have some issues with xcom2 like sudden drops in fps or strange physic-behaviour.
In the last couple of years, firaxis became kinda famous for poor optimisation.

You'll be fine. It's not as bad as everyone says

Thanks guys, guess I'll give it a try, I realized that if I have performance issues I could just refund it.

I have a 960 too and I get borderline flawless performance. There's some noticeable stutter when something crazy happens, like multiple explosions going off or a large floor collapsing at once but it's pretty negligible.

Can you tell me which graphics settings are you using?

It's still pretty shitty

it certainly is playable, just make sure to tweak some of the more demanding settings.
Given that its round based tactics, smooth frames aren't as important as in eg shooters.

it's also $60 with all the DLC separately

>what you can see and who can see you everytime you hover on a cell before moving.
It's handy but not foolproof, but as long as you don't try to sneak with specialists/sparks I imagine it works.

I played on a 560 Ti and it was pretty fucking bad but I still beat the game

I've played it for a bit on ps4 and I can confirm. The framerate dips OFTEN (usually playable, its only serious/unplayable in big battles), but the real issue is load times. Once you progress in a story and your save file gets bigger, loading gets progressively worse until you have 2+ minute loads just to get to a mission or return from a mission. The loading gets so bad, it's on par with the ps3 port of Skyrim. I'm going to complete a campaign and see how bad it gets.

All video options at maximum, 1080p, V-Sync and framerate smoothing off. Besides a long loading time when booting up (which might be due to my long mod list) the game performs as I said in my previous post.

If for some reason it still doesn't reach 60fps on your end try disabling some of the fancy video options, like subsurface scattering, DoF and so on.

Thanks man.

>being poor
It has hundreds of hours of content. $60 is a steal. Do you not realize how incredibly cheap that is compared to almost every other hobby out there? I mean it's two hours of work for 4-8 weeks of entertainment.

Stupid NEET.

...

If you get stutter lower the textures.

Also if you want to smooth your game even more check out the "Stop Wasting my Time" mod, it removes a multitude of the little artificial "pauses" the game takes (like the delay after killing an enemy) and speeds up the Avenger travel time. I've been using it since day one.

Just post a food analogy next time and be done with it, faggotron

Thought they implemented that with zip mode?

They actually patched it into the game? That's a good move, the SWMT mod was topping charts for months after release and it really made a difference.

In any case don't hesitate to enable it.

As an idort I find this whole thing as a gross inflation in blind hopes for better sales
It's over seven months old with all planned DLC finished and launched three months ago.
You can get a physical PC copy from Target, Amazon, etc for around half the price.
The used the same work for peanuts port developers that work on the Bioshock collection
And as stated none of the DLC comes packaged with it
There is absolutely no reason to sell this with such a high mark up short of greed ans/or exploiting stupid console buyers.

None of that would bother me if it weren't for the gamepad controls. How can people play this shit with a controller?

it runs like shit on pc too
but why would you ever buy a game like this on console?

I played the first one on the pc almost exclusively with the xbox-controller and thought it was a comfy way to play.

Enemies love to just disappear on the map only to reappear after you think "eh guess my last attack killed him so lemme just move position" and it activates its overwatch killing you

Honestly it's not like a rts where speed is everything
I've played both ways and neither is bad.
I find the issue with it's lack of keeping a fanbase on the xbox/PS is due to how owners of that usually want things that don't challenge brain power and math and they just want games that ask them to spray and pray.

Controller is the best way to play this and there's no controller support on PC.

sounds more like you space out bad on the enemy turn and don't notice they run out of your squads flied of view.
fun fact you can do that to them as well.

>Controller is the best way to play this

weak bait

No I mean Ill havd my first soldier shoot the enemy, then it goes to my next soldier, Ill look around and that enemy is 'gone' so Ill move that soldier into position to shoot an enemy further away only for the original arsehole to reappear. I thought it was a random one-off glitch but its happened to me 3 times so far.

Man you console faggots sure are stupid.

It's one of those games that will just always run like shit forever. GTX 1280 Ti? Still droppin' to 20 FPS when an enemy stomps through a building. They just didn't give a shit that it drops to ridiculously low frame rates because it at least runs at 60 when nothing is happening. It's like SimCity 4, it's fucked from the start and fucked forever.

XCOM 2 is still a good game, though.

worked fine on my 770

Sounds like you never tried it. Which I know to be the case since PC version literally doesn't even support controller.

A lot of PC players played the first XCOM with controller as well. Not sure why they haven't added controller support for PC

>those load times without an SSD

fucking unbelievable

Controller is the worst way to play this and there is controller support on PC.

It runs better than PC, though. The lack of mods is indeed sad, but the rest is there.

Digital Foundry found it to be a good port of an unoptimized PC game.

Steam Controller™ is the best way to experience XCOM® 2.
