So how badly is this thing going to flop?

No one is going to fall for the VR meme are they?

It's going to flop like my dick on your mom's face.

It will sell billions and you and Cred Forums WILL be seething

Not at £350, no. You can currently get a PS4 for £250 + £40 for a years worth of PS plus. With VR on top of that you're looking at £650 all in and that's with no games. It's too much money for most people to care.

I'm picking one up when it's in the bargain bin circa 2021

I doubt it will flop. It's a cheapish VR option, if you own a PS, to watch VR porn. Maybe someone will even make a game for it who knows.

It's just this generation's motion controls, once the novelty effect wears off people will be left feeling like they wasted their money and VR will disappear to never be used or heard of again in the industry just like 3D and motion controls before it

I know I won't be buying this or the oculus shit. VR is a cool concept but I don't think it will be what we've always dreamed of for another 10-15 years at least.

+ camera + 2 move controllers.

motion controls actually added to gameplay tho

Yeah but people hated motion controls for a reason that doesn't seem relevant with VR.

Not gonna lie. VR X Wing missions, and VR Batman sound like great concepts. If the execution turns out great, I'd consider getting it, but I'd need a few more well executed "games" before really being comfortable pulling the trigger.

What's the deal with ps vr hate threads?

Reminder that Sony has payed shills and YouTubers to hype its VR, they learned it from Microsoft.

Also, Reminder that there is no logical argument against this.

>So how badly is this thing going to flop?

Arguably, it might not. Its a new piece of tech that actually has a came coming for it that I want to play (Resident Evil 7), and the price is high enough that I feel like I'd have to branch out and try some other games to justify the price. It MIGHT actually work out OK.

Probably not though.

I've actually played a bit of PSVR, the main problem with it is that some games don't look that great in the headset.
The nicest looking game had to be Farpoint, alongside the rifle controller, I had a lot of fun, I felt like I had real agency in how I shot my gun, be it from the side or looking down the sights.
The other games I tried like Robinson were all about standing around and moving from place to place, not that interesting, looked ok but was bored as.
Other games I played were Rush of Blood, RE7 and Valkyrie.

Well yeah. Thats why they want you to buy the Pro, so games don't look like TOTAL dogshit in VR.

Question. Can you control your character in Farpoint or is it a rail shooter?

It's like a rail shooter to be honest.
I could only move my character forward.

For

That is kinda lame.
I really just want VR games to allow me to move around. I remember watching a video of a guy who had modded HL2 so that he could use VR and some dongles to do shit like throwing grenades over his shoulder or firing sideways while he ran.

I'd even be fine with just using it as the display and using a controller to move the character if it meant full control.

It was still pretty fucking fun, switching from Rifle to Shotgun.
Makes me want a Starship Troopers VR game.

fear

I'm waiting for some game developer to realize that you don't need the camera to be 1st person to take advantage of a VR headset.

Isn't the new Ace Combat being designed on PSVR? That's probably the only game I can justify getting this thing for

Isn't that dancing platformer Bound in VR?

According to pre-orders, it's not.

I'm actually really looking forward to Driveclub in VR.
Despite what the trolls say, DC is actually a really great racer with an awesome sense of speed when in first person, so playing that in VR has me stoked.

Fuck all this railroaded "Play as Prompto and dress up like Batman!" bullshit though.

Source?

Was best seller on Amazon once pre-orders were open. Usually it means it's going to sell well (at least better then Oculus and Vive that are fucking worse and overpriced)

Yes, and also Eve Valkyrie and GT.
