You can skip Gym Leaders and come back later, but with the exception of Sabrina you have to spend time in their area before you can skip them, so you're essentially just backtracking instead of doing everything at once.

The only games where you actually have a non-linear path are GSC, because you can do the events at Mahogany and the Lake of Rage before going to Olivine and Cianwood if you wish. And the game suffers for that nonlinearity, because the two paths have to have the same level curve, meaning the curve will flatline for the second of the two paths you take and then spike back up by the time you get to Blackthorn.

That's the native resolution. Original game was made in 1990, and remake was done in 2009.

Rance 02 is interesting because unlike later remakes like 01 and 03, it was literally just made by Orion and TADA, keeping original scenario intact but just updating it to current canon, and the art was obviously redrawn. Even the gameplay experience is pretty much the same between the two versions.

Rance 03 is more interesting remake, since they totally switch up the gameplay and rewrote the scenario.They also took way more liberties with the art and composition of the scenes, so you can't really compare original and remake as easily anymore.
