It's official - Fighting Games are dead

My interest went downhill when I read "using LoL character". I don't hate LoL characters but I would've much preferred a brand new IP with brand new characters rather than the same characters reused in fighting game theme.

This said, OP didn't post proof over most of the stuff he said, so I can't really trust him until he proves his statements with some well-written and trust-worthy documents.

Trust me, this game is gonna get HUGE. I'm sorry but companies like Capcom and Namco really dropped the ball, and they're gonna suffer for it. Expect to see numbers dwindle for traditional fighters, I predict the more niche ones like GG and BB will stay alive, SF V is gonna likely collapse, same for Tekken 7. I don't see KI lasting too long either after this, MK I can see due to it being the only fighter with excessive violence.

I don't think it's been confirmed anywhere that they will use LoL characters. they said they might. and if they do they'll likely add a lot of original characters to the cast

You'll notice this when you see Katarina in action, her gameplay is just fucking nuts. Seriously she's the best feeling speedy assassin type character I've played in like anything ever. I was jumping off walls, trees and shit, leaping off enemies, blnking behind and in front of them. It's nuts. Rengar is pretty crazy too, and Draven works way better than you'd think an adc would in a game like this.

If it's real AND as good as you say it is, I doubt it will make many waves in the FGC. Sure, you'll get a lot of casual players, but nothing close to the grand scale of EVO.

My point is, it's either gonna have to be at EVO, or it's gonna likely overshadow it. This game will be too big to ignore, and it's gonna make a lot of people drop these traditional fighters. Alex Valle can't keep SF V alive with a tiny community. S-Kill's pedigree is also gonna help. Combofiend pretty much lost all credibility with how disastrous SFV has become, and Harada is pretty much disliked by a lot of tekken fans who are fed up with him, due to him being so out of touch.

It took me like a day to go from new to "experienced", you just gotta learn what attacks beat what and do them when you have to, which you can since there is no meme motions getting in the way of your reactions.

Smash has a far higher retention of players than any other fighter, due to not just the simple inputs, but the ease and freedom of movement

Tekken has easy inputs but movement is very hard for beginners. A beginner in smash will get owned but get to move around and feel like they can do something, a beginner in Tekken for instance will get utterly stomped and barely get a chance to do anything

The MOBA community is not just going to simply jump ship just because it has LoL characters. You can argue that the audience is going to be huge, because LoL already has a huge audience, but if it's going to have actual players is another story.

Anime fighters and KoF have always been niche and they still do fine.

Tekken 7 is a huge hit in Asian arcades and it will do pretty good numbers. Bamco has hinted at more Soul Calibur and SEGA hinted at more VF to come. DoA6 is very likely to come.

The genre is doing fine. It's not what it was in its peak, but it's more than enough for it to survive. Riot won't do shit. Seth Killian's last game flopped despite brain-dead inputs.

The FGC were always dominated by a couple of games plus smaller ones here and there. SF3 and MvC2, SF4 and Marvel 3, SF5 and Smash, etc. It's not different from MOBAs, Dota and LoL plus smaller games.
