I don't realyl watch LP content but it seems to me that access was given to literally who channels that hype the shit out of every game that they're presenting. The audience seems to be rather young and excitable, they certainly don't have a strong connection to the previous Mafia titles.

I don't think a lot of attention is paid to what is on display in these videos (if they're not just running in another tab on some ADD kid's machhine( by the typical subscriber, as long as the player sounds reasonably excited, they'll probably remember Mafia III as a fun game to look out for.

That is actually very expensive in terms of resources if you plan to make it good. GTA can do this because of the insane budget and time they have. But even so the 3 protag system was extremely underwhelming in GTA5 and didn't really add much to the game.

Also what's the point of copying GTA? Mafia was never a GTA clone. It was a storydriven singleplayer game set in an open world, it wasn't a sandbox like GTA (a complaint people had with the earlier Mafia games is that there "wasn't anything to do in the world like in GTA").
