This is usually how I feel about a game like this getting updated. Thankfully the update included some late game stuff to do, but it's still a tough choice of either playing it again from scratch or only being able to see the late stuff.

By some chance I just happened to get the urge to play the game again a week ago and started a new character, having no idea that there was a new update coming so soon so it works out for me either way.

I can't decide on a map.

I really like the Forest aesthetics and foragey shit, but it looks like lots of limited space (on the flipside I never expanded a huge farm in my original run anyways).

Hilltops looks great overall but I dunno.

Wilderness looks nice and big and I really like that southwest cliffside area, but eeeeh.

The place is still big user, if you are not sure what to pick just create a fast trial character and check all the maps out before picking one

There will probably be a farm expansion mod for 1.1 within a few weeks, go with what you find aesthetically pleasing.

Not that I'm aware of, unique stumps grow though.

Earth Golems apparently do level scale.

Unique minerals is all I can think of, its a pretty cool layout as well.

Riverlands (fishing) — Lots of water, and fishing is actually viable, unlike the other farm maps. It also looks really nice!

Forest (foraging) — Forage items spawn on the west edge of the map, as well as renewable stumps. There is also a unique type of weed that spawns on the farm.

Hill-top (mining) — Lots of cliffs. There is a mining area to the southwest where ores and unique geode-bearing stones will spawn.

Wilderness (combat) — Plenty of farming space, but monsters come out at night.

The wilderness golem in wilderness scales with your combat level, it's on the wiki and I think the patch notes, no idea about the other two questions.

For those worried about limited space for crops on new maps, how much do you actually plant? I'm just curious because by the end of my second year I was mainly using about the amount of space that one or two iridium sprinklers would cover, and then I filled the green house. Between that and one or two of every animal I was making tons of money each season. Do you guys really plant tons and tons of crops and need that much space?

I really wish the mechanic of having to clicks all animals everyday or they get upset was gone. I really enjoyed the game, but whenever i got to having a farm with a few animals it got tired really fast. Maybe i'll give it another go and tone down the animal count or something, the update seems interesting

Stardew valley is my favorite game of 2016 so far.. I really want to play it again since I haven't played since release (I quit after like 2 weeks). Still, during my time playing that game, I had so much fucking fun.

Yeah, and near as I can tell running a ranch where you sell beef isn't really viable in Stardew. Ranchers have hundreds of cattle. That's why they sell beef. Stardew gets extreme but do you have over fifty head of cattle? I'm not late game so I'm really asking. I grew up on a ranch and worked on a dairy farm, and Stardew seems to be more in line with you know, dairy farming.

That's what made me drop the game in the first place.

Comfy has always been a meme, the game and the metagame have always been super stressful and the way the game handles the community center is piss poor. If you fail to finish a bundle you are fucked for the rest of the year. That's why I like Rune Factory dungeon system since you can technically harvest every single crop at any point in the year.

Right, I don't think the land is available. The slaughter of animals on the farms presented in Stardew Valley just doesn't happen in real life. Chickens, for example, weren't eaten commonly until relatively recently and even then it was often only during festivities. The products animals produce are far more profitable by comparison. Niggers need to educate themselves before they start bitching.
