Xiv players are basically encouraged they don't have to get good even for story so most people can't even press their fucking buttons.

Healer main are girls and homos, of course they're bad. They never dps and being targeted by a prey mechanic is a death sentence to a dps.

For a more abstract example - a Demonology Warlock in WoW is currently much harder to play efficiently than a Warrior in FFXIV. Speaking from experience, that is. (Raided savage in XIV and mythic in WoW - still harder in WoW.) You have more to press in XIV, but it literally lights up the next move for you as you press the previous key - sometimes the combos split, but they're all for very obvious circumstances and situations. WoW is much more reactionary - the lower GCD makes a massive difference. Both are fun, but both are quite different.

Healers in this game act like special snowflakes that don't have to put in any effort whatsoever. That we should be glad that they exist.

They happily stand in place, watching netflix or munching on fucking pocky casting Cure/Physick between every 6 GCDs and are appalled at the very idea that they ought to be using any of the other 20+ skills at their disposal.

It would help if the technical implementation of MMO-standard mechanics weren't completely fucked up so that people who want to play better aren't crippled by useless bullshit.

UI can not display enough buffs on a target to see them all in 24-man raids.
Macros are not action queued and therefore useless.
The UI breaks when you have too much speed on your gear. The cooldowns will be lower than the UI shows, unsyncing the animation further the more often you spam abilities without waiting for the animation to finish once.
Lenghty story cutscenes in dungeons and the group is able to progress without everyone being out of the cutscene. Auto-skipping cutscenes still triggers a black loading screen.
Accessing your retainer's inventory (bank slots) cancels your auctions until you close the window.
Being able to "rent" additional retainers (bank slots) for a monthly fee.
Character stats are a mystery and do not parse in percentages or values a human being can relate to. Stats are affected by diminishing returns which are impossible to forsee until you actually hit magical caps and notice something didn't work out with the community calculated formula as expected.
Bad itemization on high level gear that cripples certain classes entirely without a chance of fixing it because there's no side-grade or way to unfuck useless stats.
3 second DoT ticks and ugly clipping when casting spells because they are only applied once the next tick happens.
Instanced bullshit and confirmation popups everywhere.

I tried to get better a long time ago. Cleared all the way to t9, but then my friends quit the game and I was stuck with pubs. After months of trying to clear with random people I just gave up on the hard content altogether. I'm honestly glad most side content has normal modes with savage versions added later now, I wouldn't put myself through that hell again.

Western raiding scene is shit because it's a learning problem.
Japanese raiders are very respectful to each other and actually try. They don't want to be burdens on each other; whereas in the West in both Europe and NA people legitimately do not try and join parties for carries while hitting random buttons and refusing to learn from their mistakes. I've seen this shit a lot more often on Chaos than I did Primal and it's infuriating. People who are otherwise okay but can't seem to learn from their mistakes doing the same shit over and over and over because they're not paying attention, or someone who has 20ilvl's on me doing 700less DPS because they don't care to contribute.

The biggest problem is the classes all suck at low levels with lancer being the biggest offender, almost 20 levels of heavy thrust>impulse drive>impulse drive>impulse drive>heavy thrust>repeat

Guild Wars 2. 90% of player literally can't dodge to save their life. Anything you can't beat by stacking and spamming is beyond the average player's skill level. I still remember fighting these fuckers way back in season 1. Every attack was telegraphed way in advance with giant neon orange circles. Every single moron would stand completely still in the middle of the circle and keep mashing 1, then get one-shotted by the boss. After every attack chat would flood with cries of "WHY I DIE???!?" and "res pls". The a crowd of retards who had actually managed to not fuck up their battle would swarm in, make the boss's stats scale to impossible levels, and fuck over the whole instance. God I hated Battle for Lions Arch.

This. I just stopped trying altogether to do EX Primals or hardcore raids because working with people is just such a fucking pain in the ass in this game. I don't know if it's like this in other MMOs but after months of trying to learn shit and never getting past phase 1 or 2 I just can't.

Same here. The expansion really bummed me out. I was able to make it through the entire game and all the living story by playing solo with pugs or with a few friends in our very small guild. Now, all the new areas are impossible to solo, I can never find anyone to pug with, and my friends lost interest. Also, all the progress we had worked so hard n to build up out guild was gone and we don't even have enough people left complete the mission to get a guild hall.

But they're just old Germanic. They make perfect sense if you take a second to look at them instead of being an autist.

I spent 70% of the fight tanking the floor as a DRG along with 4 other members of the group whilst the actually competent people did it for me

I just joined a Sophia EX run of PF a few hours ago. The party was nothing but french players.
We killed her 9 times with only 1 wipe because of a shitty pull.

WoW because everything is handled by third party apps that tell you what to do

Gear is pretty much straight vertical, but rotations start to open up as you progress

JP PFs:
Phase 1 training party (repeat until they're confident to move on to the next phase)
Phase 2 training party
Phase 3 training party
Phase 4 training party
Completion Party (when they're confident about every boss phase)
Farm Party (when they've completed multiple kill parties and are completely sure about every part of the fight)

NA/EU PFs:
Training party (most people skip this)
Kill party (where people start the fights)
Farm party (where people who failed the kill party try to get carried)

Yeah, the thing they confuse learning and clear together is Learning parties mean you have a learning disability. Fucking Sophia Ex wiping before the adds on multiple different parties because people can't unglue their eyes off their hotbar for a second when they're not proc based classes.

Gear is vertical, rotations get more variations as you go
Personally I like playing NIN, the handsigns add new moves, your basic rotation gets 3 different finishers with effects based on position, and huton really speeds things up

well if someone is new and they join a farm party, the bonus message will pop up immediately when you enter the instance. so that's a big red flag and you can kick them appropriately.

my problem though is people who join clear groups but know none of the phases. clear means you've been through all the phases but you just haven't beat the fight yet. I shouldn't have to explain every mechanic as if it's your first time if you're in a clear group.

Lancer to 15, Pugilist to 30

You need lancer at 15 in order to change to monk, but you should absolutely get it to 34 to get Blood for Blood. You don't really need to focus on it though until you start endgame stuff

No player buffs work on limit break, this includes TA. Only things tgat cann affect LB damage are mechanical buffs/debuffs, for example - Ravana stances. 4 sword (starting) takes normal damage, Red (dual greatsword, Slaughter/Liberation) takes increased damage, Green (no weapons) takes refuced damage. Another more recent example - a10 (normal and savage) adds take twice damage if they hit by ball things that falls down if you predd the button, so you can kill them with caster lb, where they only get 50% of their hp if hit by same lb normally.

As a tank main I can confirm this. I chose tank for two reasons:

1. They get the coolest weapon types.
2. It's easy.

BLM is the opposite of SMN. You can't move, you have to know everything about the fight, and if you maje any mistakes you can kiss your DPS goodbye. It's a binary class. You either know the fight and do well or you don't.

Mechanically the rotation is dull as hell, but big dick 12k crits are what keep me playing this game.

Had a healer in Stone Vigil who refused to man the cannons on the second boss, and both of our DPS were newbies. Worst part is we wiped on several basic mob sets of 3 mobs because of exactly what you described. I ended up saying fuck it and used potions during the last third of the dungeon because he didn't know what the fuck cure 2 or Regen were. Our BLM was surprisingly good for a sprout and I told him to keep it up.

Well, start with getting your basic dummy rotation and opener to the point you don't think about them. That helps a lot, maybe the most. Opener is most important thing, since higher you start, higher will be overall dps. Then comes "uptime", try to always have GCD up. Don't wait until you can do positional, if you can't do it now. But I think you know it if you can hit 60%. Rest is about certain fight phasings and adjusting opener and/or rotation. How long this phase will last? Can I squeeze more potency for that time frame if I break my rotation? (like dropping blood of dragon buff for bonus Geiro in drg case). How to do most damage in 2 gcd? 3 gcd? Sometimes it's just about planning amd counting potency. It's quite easy in Nidhogg case, because it has very strict timers for most of his phases and last phase is just 3+ minutes dummy when you realise that and know how to move (also for nidhogg don't forget to take "tower" if you're melee and hope tank won't move boss too far).

Well at lvl 30 you run like an anime, but gameplay wise they're pretty fun, mainly because it demands you to have some competency to remember the jutsus. UNFORTUNATELY, probably only 1% of all NIN use Suiton (water attack that allows you to inflict vulnerability), which is their most useful skill

If it was literally a repeating swiftcast then it'd be op. The only thing I'd change about AST is how much mana it costs to use Gravity. Shit drains you faster than a $2 whore. Damage wise it's ok, you'd be doing about the same as a BRD or MCH which is about what anyone would expect from a healer, but wayyy to costly.

Other than that I'd like for AST to be able to switch stances mid fight, but that might be op? I donno, it'd be nice to have, even though Nocturnal is basically useless compared to Diunral

I played SMN a bit (almost 54) so I can see why you say that. But I like I said you can say that about most classes. I wanted SMN becuase I played most DPS and BLM (fucking shit) and wanted to try another caster. By 50 it was way more fun than BLM 60.

Depends on what you're playing. Honestly, most AuRa look like shit. Everything about them--mostly the way they stand because it's so awkward looking (males specifically). If you're playing DRK then it'd be typical for you to be an AuRa because everyone and their mother who plays DRK is an AuRa.

In short, they look ugly. Yours doesn't look bad tho. Would make for a good looking PLD (most make good looking tanks, sometimes SMN, often times DRG, but dont even think about putting him in healer clothes)

I've been playing both games on and off in the past year and WoW is way, way worse. I'm not even trying to shill or bait or any other buzzword, It's just been my honest experience that a wipe in a dungeon is really rare in XIV. Meanwhile in WoW its common to wipe in a dungeon. I've had a lot of times where we wiped more than once in a single run. The best part is that with WoW wipes, eventually someone will start being a cunt, and it will usually be one of, if not the biggest retard in the group.

I'll admit, I can think of three trials in XIV that are wipe magnets, but the most times I've wiped on one trial was five, and that was only once. Usually a bad group gets it on the third try. Meanwhile I cannot count how many times I've had pubs wipe on the same raid boss, people that are so fucking bad that not even the best raid leaders or DBM can help them.

I don't have any particular allegiance to either, this is just my objective observation.

DRG by far and you have synergy with ranged DPS. Lots of damage and ez rotation.Just keep in mind when to jump and when not to.

I don't remember, it was like a year ago before HW hit.
I think it was an i80 dungeon, probably was working on a part of my relic, but everyone was in the i100-i12x range

It was rare for me, but I also mained WHM so it wasn't hard to keep Medica II up on everyone and Regen on the tank when needed.
It's like, I was pretty good at judging how hard I could DPS on pulls, especially with Holy, so it was rare that there would be any danger in regular dungeons. I mean, you had to be good at judging damage numbers to properly deal with coil stuff, especially when having to move and timing cast times.

I remember leveling DRG to 34 being incredibly painful due to their combos being mostly unusable until around 45-48.
BLM I personally found fun because your rotation would change often as you got new spells until the mid-40s when you got your main core stuff.
Can't say much about either one at the level cap though, much less the 60 cap.

Just know that you have to get out of AoE's before the timers hit midway or you'll be hit.
