it fucking enrages me how they butchered the awesome concept art so badly in game

guess youre right

someone post dragons dogma

Epic Mickey

Gamebryo really is a depressing. Has Bethesda every explained why they haven't moved on from that patchwork piece of shit?

>hhehehe

It was grimdark bullshit.

It would be harder to find games were the final result is as good as the concept art. A lot is lost in streamlining and actually making the final product.

All of them?

Not better than the game but I really like arkham city's art.

early concept art of RE7
youtu.be/RgS_la-zKss

Just picked up all 4 of the Batman arkham games about a week ago, went through them from release date and reach 30% through origins right now.

How the fuck did has no one ever recommended me these games, they are fucking GOAT material

altho origins isn't as good as the others

Would it be better or worse if he put his fingers in your ears while riding you?

I got them the batman games and dlc for free because of the whole PC port debacle.

Since I got it all free I have no desire to get my moneys worth

I AM THE DARKNESS THAT ENVELOPS YOUR WICKED SENSE OF HUMOR

>It would be harder to find games were the final result is as good as the concept art.

Metroid Prime?

this

Dante's inferno

too bad there's no artbook and the trailer that showed off a bunch of it can''t be found online anymore

Alice: Madness Returns

Probably just incompetence on their part.

They barely know how to develop in Gamebyro or whatever so I doubt they'd be able to do it in another engine.

money, it's always money

> pic related
Is that Motoko?

The game itself was mostly boring though. It also should have stuck with the sequel-to-Super plotline. Also, fuck the reliance on bird magic and Samus is the Chosen One bullshit. We didn't need that

IT JUST FUCKING WORKS ALRIGHT JESUS CHRIST CAN YOU NOT BE SO ENTITLED WHEN BETHESDA GIVES YOU A NEW FALLOUT

this is tracer

Why are people circle jerking this Jockey concept? It's looks so out of place from the rest of the special infected.

you're right
it doesn't look like a bad halloween costume like the final products

Never forget

...

Thanks, Anita...

>Original plan involved fighting on the fucking moon
>A dungeon that was constant between all players
>Beastmen/elves/dwarves
>You got to fight these fuckers
It's neat to imagine if a game got another year in the oven.

Character art.

I remember hearing that in the original plan, when you fight Grigori the moon blows up.

That game was fucking beautiful though. It was just too big and filled with nothing. RIP visiting the moon.

Alice 3 when, stop making fucking phone games and go suck off EA, American.

...

How long until in game models and environments look like or better than their art?

half life 2 more like bad life 2

Honestly don't see that happening anytime soon. Usually, the 3d artists work from concept art right? If they're lucky/the asset is complex, they get a model sheet. If they aren't, which is usually the case, the modelers just get one view and have to do part of the concepting by themselves, and I dunno but most 3d artists I know are not very good at concepting..

How that fuck is that not a reality? Modern real-time 3dcg can technically look exactly like any sort of 2d art even on consoles, let alone on high-end PCs.

>Modern real-time 3dcg can technically look exactly like any sort of 2d art even on consoles

excuse me what

>What is Subnautica?

except most those things are in the game.

That was the point of it. Almost everything that's in the concept art is present in the game.

oh, my apologes, i didnt notice that it was a reply.

havent slept right in weeks

all the 5 different kinds of fish, whoo

EyeEye best fish

Didn't Anita come years after Infinite? I blame the publisher (2K? I don't remember). They cut a lot of shit that *could* have made this game not-shit and made it a casualized gallery shooter.

what game? Dragon's dogma?

Ye

man, i'd have loved to fight those fuckhueg kaiju monsters. I thought the grabbing mechanic was kind of wasted because the monsters weren't big enough. Hopefully Dragon's Dogma 2 (if it ever happens) will have that.

Blame Ken Levine, he scrapped the whole game a couple times and has said he doesn't like that people makes porn of Elizabeth. I think is safe to assume this was his doing.

There was the massive cyclops, but he was covered in spiked armor that made climbing him not fun

A sequel to DD could be so fucking good.
Imagine if they added more classes and more hybrid classes, so you could be a fist-fighting wizard that imbues your fists with the wind itself

...

This is just a bad case of
>let's hire expensive artists who don't give two fucks about vidya and don't take part in the development procestt anyway
Those pictures don't help level designers one bit.

It werks.
Also it's Creation Engine now which is totally not the same.

This intro looks way better than the one we got

CDPR puts a retarded amount of work into their concept art.
They use real-world references for everything they can, they visit castles, art collections and open-air museums, they even pay consultants

>tracer was traced
Really makes you think.

Is that a girl (boy)?

triple A companies getting concept art for levels done THEN having a level designer try to make that shit playable (if at all in some cases) is more common than you think. I've no doubt in my mind that's the case with bethesda. Nothing else explains how shit the design for some of their game locations is.

still suffers from a lot of the 1-hour-user complaints shown in an earlier post , but at least the transition is smoother and maybe more interesting.

but user! you can't show the dark side of american culture by having the troops shoot gas at the citizens! That's not what fallout is about. It's about how fun violence and nukes are and how wacky the 50s were! It's almost like you don't know Fallout!

It doesn't have a "War never changes every 40 seconds so it's already better in my book.

What do they do it for then?
Is the producer giving handouts to his artist buddies?
Does the publisher only care that an expensive artist gets hired, nevermind that he's of no use as long as his name is on the quarterly report?
What's the point?

...

what gem

Anita's been making videos since the 2009. She didn't pop up on Cred Forums's radar until she started focusing on video games.

Basically:

>Producer/ideas guy has artist put their ideas in a visual medium to better express said ideas
>guys in charge of actually designing levels are supposed to use these concept arts as their ultimate goal
>often falls short because art is too fancy/difficult to implement into the actual game

...

What? I don't understand what you're asking.

What I said is that level designers are often made to work around environment artists instead of the other way around.

Sequel is inevitable. Too many sales. Deep Down is DD2. Screencap this.

I hope you're right. Dragon's Dogma is a masterwork, can't go wrong.

Dragon's Dogma is piece of shit climbing simulator and you know it.

not even getting a (You) for that one.

Most of them

iirc It's owned by Zenimax, and Bethesda is a subsidiary of Zenimax so.

Mistral concept art.

MGR has great character designs. Only way I can imagine that being improved upon is having more.

came here to post this

Yeah, all the character designs are memorable.

...

>hinged mouth

I'm kinda glad that didn't make it in

Moving onto Sam.

ADAAAAAAAAAAM

And his final design.

Original version of the World Marshal rooftop.
The rest of the art can be found on Platinums blog.

It would've worked for a goofier character, but the design we got works for the KoRL's serious demeanor.

the art translated over to the game well with DI though. it was just the gameplay itself mechanically that was kind of boring.

Really makes you think, huh?

Same deal with Skyrim. All of the cities looked amazing in concept art. Actual cities are extremely boring and disappointing.

Especially Riften, concept art makes you believe it's supposed to be a densely packed shady town with many winding back alleys but then the actual town is just one slightly big back alley

>ctrl+f Destiny Vanilla
>0 results
wtf people

The entrance of Riften is still good looking
Rest of the game can go eat shit

it still hurts

if bungie used that half of a billion budget on the actual game...

...

My jockey is Diddy Kong. When he rides you, the ancient lake theme song from Diddy Kong Racing starts to play.

Did you guys try The Taken King? Everything in it looks like the pre-release 2012 artworks, if at least half of vanilla Destiny had half that quality...

That Army issue pip boy woulda made a whole lot more sense as pip boys are like, locked to one person and realy hard to reset. It would have made an interesting gameplay mechanic too where the army issue pip boy would have been realy outdated and limited, but you scavange new software and hardware from old vaults or create new ones yourself.

I bet they scrapped that because of the husband-wife storyline, instead of writing a clever way to introduce it regardless of whether you picked male or female.

Typical Emil Fagliarulo shit.

Didn't they have a botanist essentially on their staff to make sure all of the plants were the right species for the different environments and that they were distributed realistically?

Less passion for story making to rather shit out something so the screaming manbaby Toddler can get it his way.

So all of them?

This will never NOT trigger the fuck outta me.

Dragon's Dogma Online does have an Alchemist class that basically plays like a muscle wizard

Never ever

Wonderful arts (well, to be fair, in-game visuals were competently implemented), cool concept, mediocre game.
