It's because this is the sort of game where you need to learn the basic mechanics. Going in blind will lead to nothing.

Loving every laugh, Darkest Dungeon fags will just quote shit from the game and drown you the fuck out.
Guaranteed if this thread takes off you'll be snuffed out and they'll make it their general of choice.

Youre pretty much guaranteed to suck shit for the first few hours, just tuff it out like a big boy and it'll get better. I know its daunting at the beginning

>it gets good 10 hours in meme

>Have to thoroughly read outside sourced info-guides in order to make any progress in a single player game.

I think I'll pass.

user, keep in mind that this is a game where you can't brute force your way through it.
Your attacks should not miss much - upgrade your skills and weapons. Don't take say, a level 1 character to a level 3 dungeon.
If you have no heroes to go a high level dungeon, just take a few on a low level expedition.

Heart attacks? Yeah, don't pick any heroes wit 30 stress or more for dungeons. That solves that problem.

Resist... resist what? Stat effects? Some enemies have high resists. Don't use Waifu Plague Doctor against enemies with high blight resist.

Trap? user, please, scout

Is it worth turning on the dlc for a first run? I heard there was a debuff that makes shit super annoying from the start

IT doesn't get good after a few hours, YOU get good after a few hours.

/thread

Was literally just about to post this exact same video.

I've heard that houndmasters are pretty good

I want to fuck plague doctor

Use 4 Abominations if you want the most brain dead easy play through

You'll probably fuck even that up tho

How solid is a Occultist/Archer/Doggo/Jango?

very so
put arbalest in 4th though, and bring her heal

In that order? Not very.

This, don't forget to give Occultist his knife stab, so he always has something to do

Try getting good instead of blaming the game.

This is what babbys actually believe

I like that her and doggo can self heal pretty well so occultist can focus healing BH or someone who takes a huge hit.

>First dungeon fuck up and everyone is stressed or dead.
>only people available is a plague doctor, jester, vestal and abomination
>Can't make a party of 4 anymore and both the jester and plague doctor cant attack because their move list
I have the worse luck.

Stay salty. I get to enjoy my husbando.

Baited
Reeling
About to post

Arbalist can't self heal tho

Why does this game get so much circle jerking in here? Its so fucking primitive and shallow dice roll game only a true brainblet would deem it worth his time. If you want risk management and tactical gameplay go play XCOM - a game nobody ever praises in here. It beats DD into the dirt in every field except maybe "b-but I like lovecraftian!"...

Are you sure? Pretty sure I've done it before. She has to be in position 3 to do it I think.

>tfw the few times I use Arbalest she always finds a way to fuck up and die
>tfw a god damn reskin always saves my ass
Further proof that Musketeer is waifu

Oh yeah, that makes sense. I think I never ever let her get out of 4 so in my mind she can't self heal

I'm pretty sure same people who like DD also like X Com, so I'm not sure who you are bating here, sweety

>pours soylent on you
what did they mean by this?

Yea and people who play Dota also play Lol. No.

Hmm.png

gtfo child

>The early game is shit because all your heroes are weak and it's almost entirely RNG based whether you'll get a decent crop of character
>The mid game is shit because all you do is send your teams out to easy dungeons grinding for money/experience that they can't possible fail over and over again.
>The end game is shit because the penultimate "Darkest Dungeon" forces you to use new teams every time you want to attempt the Darkest Dungeon again. Did you waste four hours getting a Crusader up to max level with great trinkets? Well fuck you cunt, go grind up another one because he's not beating the game for you.

To top all this off there's no way to actually fail the game, just buy more heroes for a pittance from the wagon and start grinding again. Imagine if XCOM had no fail state and you could just keep throwing soldiers at the enemy until you finally beat the game. Fucking retarded

>*blocks your character progression*
>*forces u 2 dismiss them*
Has there ever been a DLC that's made the game THIS unfun before?

Blood isn't even hard to come by after the farming quests in the courtyard.

Like a baby.

the whole point of the game is to learn how to minimize bad situations you sperg

Wish the devs spent less time whining about social justice and more time making shit like this.

You can stall out a fight if you have a stunner, just kill the big threats, and spam stun on the other guys while you heal HP/stress.

You'll be fine user, you just gotta sack up.

tfw the one guy who beat stygian in 16 weeks with 2 doggos and 2 abominations at lvl 1 each in dd1

Darkest Dungeon is the epitome of bullshit rng and artificial difficulty, no idea why Cred Forums loves it so much.

I'm about to start a new campaign because the DLC is gay as fuck. Just extends the grind by forcing you to get rid of the people infected and purposefully throws the blood monsters at you, instead of the area specific ones.

How hard is the Countess compared to Viscount and Baron? What build would work for her?

Harder.
Get bleeds.
Flag and hellion are good.

Ripostes usually do well against bosses with multiple turns.

Because it's honest with it by telling you more than once that the game is about bullshit situations and that the goal isn't about outmatching them, it's about mitigating them.

>dude it's bad on purpose lmao

Not bad, hard. Unfair, even. But that's the appeal: that the unfair bullshit can be beaten, it can be pushed back.

Still not good game design

Enjoy your AIDS.

If you don't enjoy that kind of thing, sure. But without challenge, what's the appeal? Might as well play cookie clicker if you want a game that plays itself.

>not wanting to play purposely unfair rng simulators = wanting to play cookie clicker
what is middle ground

Just play radiant, shitter

>DUDE ALL YOURE ATTACKS MISSED AND YOU LOST LMAO
>using basic attack on the 4 heroes against dodge and armor enemies like a shitty rpg maker game.

If all that shit happened to you in just two hours you must be absolutely awful at the game.

It's not about the rng, it's about challenge. Anything that has a challenging non-human opponent is inherently unfair.

ah my wife returns after all these years

>I want to play games where learning curve reaches maximum at 5 minutes of gameplay
you might enjoy these ones
play.barbie.com/en-us/games

Just uninstall user, if it's not fun for the first two hours, it's not gonna be fun ever.
>Every user who says gitgud
You can play as the safest motherfucker in the world and this game will still screw you over for the sake of it, there is no gitting gud at RNG.

This game is actually at its best after 2 hours or so. Then again after 20 hours you just get bored because the game stops showing you anything new and the gameplay is not engaging enough to justify the grind.

>there is no gitting gud at RNG.

Agreed, but you can get better at putting yourself in a position where the RNG won't fuck you as hard. Learn what comps work, mess around with trinkets, learn to manage stress over the course of a dungeon, etc and when you get the inevitable three misses in a row or your occultist 0-Bleed heals your guys will be in better shape to handle it than if you hadn't.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled his game 6 times in the past year or so. I keep coming back because of the challenge, but no other game has triggered me to turn it off and uninstall...sometimes the RNG is such a cunt and you get 6 shit rolls back to back.

>tfw RNG masochist and love this shit
I only just got the game a week ago on Switch with both DLCs and I'm fucking loving this. You're either the kind of person who can enjoy the thrill of the gamble and know how to take the shit with the good, or you're not and seeing the appeal in any of this may as well be impossible.

>Playing indie shit
there's your problem.

>>DUDE ALL YOUR ATTACKS MISSED AND YOU LOST LMAO
Manage your ACC and enemy Dodge
MaA can do all that easily.
>>DUDE HEART ATTACK LMAO
Do not let stress build up. A Jester can do that.
>>DUDE RESIST LMAO
Upgrade skills, use trinkets, that buff base chance, do not use skills against enemies that are next to immune to it: do not try to make skeletons bleed, etc.
>>DUDE TRAP LMAO
Increase your scouting chance.

There, I've beaten the RNG for you.

I remember playing this game fairly early in development. I ran into an enounter with 2 musket bandits and 2 knife bandits. I got surprised, ate 2 full rounds of crits from their hit everyone attack, and my entire party died before I got a single action.

I'm glad nothing like that has happened since then. That was the worst fucking thing.

You don't, those are only there for retards that can't think beyond throwing their heads at a wall and impatient folk not wanting to spend any time learning to play through the game.

>not wanting to spend any time learning to play through the game
You do realize that just translates into "not wanting to grind new characters over and over again" right? Why waste your time when you can """learn""" from someone else.

>DUDE TRAP LMAO

T. Retard

Nice.

...

not an argument

Switch Crimson Court patch never ever

You mean NS version patch? It was released yesterday, or the day before.
I was just about to kill the Countess by that time though.

Because that all serves a purpose, it is not even hard beyond reason, people naturally suck at RNG and the game leans on that to make you feel small because the story wants you to feel small and shit. Once you figure that out the game becomes easy and the peices all fall into place.
Most of the people complaining are literal brainlets and impatient guys looking for instant gratification in a game that is about the smallness of man.
Everything in the game serves the story and the story is the thing.

you didn't have the body language of a winner, neither did all those corpses in the graveyard

I picked up DD pretty easily because its simple, you dont need a guide to pick it up, you just need to think a little as you play, maybe play it safe early on and when you get comfortable with the basics experiment.
I play all my games blind and personally recommend everyone do that, it's more fun when you apply yourself to them and play by their rules rather than trying to force your own in or copying someone elses and this is a game that requires that of you, sure you can follow the guide but you miss part of what makes it good in the process and sure you can grind everything to the max but you will tire of it and it will stop being fun.

So is vest and nurgle girl the vest healer/support back line for double fighter front line?

Not even making one just calling what I see in you.

>nurgle girl

in that case i see a faggot in you

Nope, thats your reflection in the monitor..............

Ok give it to me straight. Best over all team? Something that is going to just fucking get me through these missions so I can hoard as many items as possible to get my town up to snuff. Cheap or very low stress. I am getting tired of taking 10k out of a dungeon and spending 6k to do it.

Depends on the area you're going into. Blight teams work well in ruins/cove and bleed teams work well in warrens.

no it isn't

So do I bother with the Shieldbreaker and Crimson Court DLC as a first time player or should I only buy base game for now? Saw this on GoG the other day for cheap and figure I should see what the fuss is about.

It doesn't matter really. You'll want the first time to be without the DLC, thanks to the Crimson Court fucking with game balance excessively. Shieldbreaker is less so, but you'll still want to hold off on using her until later.

Well you might wanna close those gay porn tabs you've been keeping open then.
And before you get all defensive about it I understand it may be for "research" but tell me this, what's the "research" for?

How do you "git gud" at poor game design

Sauce?

>It's a new players don't know about accuracy or stress management shitpost episode

CC DLC is very good but affects main content. Shieldbreaker isn't worth it since you are pretty much only getting a new hero, but if you like the game then feel free to consider it. You can tick on or off content either way, so if you are concerned about the difficulty of CC then you can keep it turned off until you feel like you're ready.

>oh boy its another "OP complains about difficulty on some retarded game Cred Forumsirgins like" thread im going to ctrl F "git gud"
>its the first reply
Boy it sure is reddit around here

Doesn't make 1st user wrong, games hard if you're new to it but if you can't figure it out then you suck, plain and simple.
Options are to get better or stop playing.

>posting reddit letter media

>look mom i added reddit to some thing i dont like aren't i clever?
>look mom im gonna add soy to the title of some game i don't like too!

but when you're ultimately unlucky on rolls, even if you've minimized all the possible bad, you can still lose in an extreme manner.

RNG in games was a mistake.

git gud

Whats that?

Maybe if the OP wasn't retarded and if actually he would have uploaded a well though post he'd be taken more seriously
But no thats not the case, so he gets rightfully meme'd

Now fuck off

It's only an idle animation.

Alright then

This feeling that you're feeling right now is when you get caught in a casual filter.

Refund the game, my friend. You are bad.

you can buy the dlc now and turn it off at the main menu so if its cheap you should get it

Did they ever fix Xcom 2 to make it worth playing? I really enjoyed the first 1, but I've heard the second one was just frustrating, at launch at least. Did the DLCs/updates fix the game, and optimize it to a playable state?

If the game is really that hard just download a mod that makes the game easier.
I mean I use a higher stack count mod just so that I don't have to grind as much, pulling 30K per run without Auntie.
And if you don't find what you are looking for modding the game is piss easy, just a text file that even a toddler could edit. You want Vestal to heal 99 HP to the whole party and remove 200 Stress? 1 change and a added string.

>Spare the others, I am ready.

>brainlets being bad at turn based games
loving every laugh

...

Now the true test...

>Lmao just mod the game to win all the time
>It's fun xD
You're cancer

>Doesn't buff his accuracy
>Lets his stress build up
>Uses dots and debuffs against enemies that resist them
>Doesn't increase his scout chance via quirks or an item
Basically what said. OP, you're retarded.

Pure luck rng grindan adventure without any strategy and skill.
When will you losers learn.

If(test)
holdfast();
else
expire();

poor doggo

When you learn to get good
Oh no, you first, I insist

I'm pretty sure that the people that suck at the game don't know how to use CC. They also probably just try to AOE down enemy formations instead of focus firing the backline.
Chain-stunning the last two mobs to heal up is so easy it's not even funny how people manage to have problems with their characters dying. I can relate to the infamous '4 Spiders Surprise Rooms' or plain bad luck, but this is all bad management skills that I see time and time again.
Fix your faulty playstyle before blaming the game, you mongs.

>Endless grind, pure luck
>Git gud

This game isn't that hard, its just so incredibly grindy and repetitive.

youtube.com/watch?v=cj2HvGPv0XM

Who is the best girl?

Grave Robber

Well your either a brainlet or haven't played the game.
The RNG hits you hard but you can use it to hit way harder, just ask any of the fags that beat stygian in under 20 dungeon runs.

>DUDE ALL YOUR ATTACKS MISSED AND YOU LOST LMAO
Get fucking ACC
Retreat when fucking needed
>DUDE HEART ATTACK LMAO
Reduce fucking Stress
Retreat when fucking needed
>DUDE RESIST LMAO
Get fucking Bleed/Blight/Debuff chance rate
>DUDE TRAP LMAO
Get fucking scouting dudes and traps don't do actually that much

Get fucking good

It is not possible to get good in a rpg based game
Soon or later rng will fuck you up
fact

>Not possible to git gud
>In a rpg based game
>rpg based game
>rpg

But you can make it so that RNG happens to fuck foes more often than it fucks you hence making you progress towards win. It's not about having 100% success rate on stuff it's about having a success rate that is higher than 50%.

Use artificer to grind but do expect a stress build up.
A self-sufficient party wouls be
Occ/V,J,Hound,F or something (swap F to Hell if you do not have that DLC), though that one relies on bleed to some extent.
For Cove/Ruins I prefer PD,Occ,SB,SB. Or PD,Abo,Abo,Occ if you have no Shieldbreaker DLC.
Darkest Dungeon missions are pretty situational. Like using heroes that attack from different positions for the first one, using one with protect skill for the second, etc.

Vestal,Anti,HWM,MAA

Weapon upgrade: Repeater - Small percent chance on hit to instantly kill a target. Basic 5%, advanced 10%, Superior 15%
Weapon Upgrade Expanded Magazine; Increases magazine Size. Basic +1, Advanced +2, superior +3.
Insider Knowledge Bonus; Receivable as Resistance orders, or as a continent bonus, or both. Increases the effectiveness of weapon upgrades. Combined will grant +2 magazine size and +20% chance to instantly kill a target.
Reaper skill; Banish, fire all remaining shots in your rifle at a single target until it dies.

With a fully upgraded weapon and all relevant bonuses, distributed chance to execute the target is roughly 85% no matter how much health it has.

> I don't understand the concept of Risk Management and thus cannot enjoy bideo game where I do not have complete control.
Shrug it off you bitch jesus christ.
youtube.com/watch?v=0ZiB2pLEyUY

The only actual issues with DD that I can think of atm are that knowledge curios are fucking garbage to the point of being never-touchs unless you have the Athenaeum building and that they can't balance Jester for shit so he keeps going from good to bad to good to bad like he's being bounced on a fucking dick. Literally everything else is fine.
>b-b-but the RNG
It is extremely rare for RNG to ruin you unless you were in a position to be ruined. Yes, it is possible to be as well-prepared as you can be and still have RNG decide that today's the day it's gonna make you its bitch but that situation is FAR less common than all the whiners would have you believe, usually its just people getting shit on by what they perceive as bad RNG and crying foul instead of figuring out why they got shit on.

Make notes or remember what each boss is like as they are tough past the first difficulty. Take the wrong party and expect a death or two at best.
