What are the 10 most common weapon types in FPS

What 10 weapons make up the most common part of the typical FPS arsenal?
I want to see what Cred Forums thinks the 10 most common FPS weapon archetypes are.

AK variants, UMP, m24, m9, m16 variants, m416, 820mcs, spas12, glocks

Sorry I meant weapon archetypes not specific models, but /k/ and individual models are welcome too

Pistol
Rifle
Shotgun
Sniper
SMG
LMG
Rocket
PDW/Machine pistol
Grenade
Revolver

In no particular order.

Pistol
Shotgun
Machine gun / assault rifle
Minigun
Rocket Launcher
Grenade Launcher
Plasma / laser gun
Knife
chainsaw

AKM
M16A2
M2 Browning
1911
MP5A2
M9
Desert Eagle
Spas 12
Uzi
M107

bullshit scifi rifle

Shotgun
Rocket Launcher
Flamethrower
Grenade LAuncher
Minigun
Automatic Gun
Syringe Gun
SNiper Rifle
Melee

If we look at Quake, it's:
1: Rocket Launcher
2: Lightning Gun
3: Plasma Gun
4: Railgun
5: Grenade Launcher
6: BFG
7: Machine Gun
8: Shotgun
9: Gauntlet
10: Stickybomb Launcher

i would say that all FPS weapons fall into this general sort of firing mechanism:
>melee (eg knife)
>close range, sustained, projectile (eg: grenade)
>close range, sustained, hitscan (eg: smg)
>close range, burst, projectile (eg: revolver)
>close range, burst, hitscan (eg: shotgun)
>long range, sustained, projectile (eg: crossbow)
>long range, sustained, hitscan (eg: machine gun)
>long range, burst, projectile (eg: rocket launcher)
>long range, burst, hitscan (eg: sniper rifle)
>medium range, hitscan, sustained (assault rifle)

You can see similar patterns in Team Fortress 2, Quake, Doom, Call of Duty, Halo, and even Metal Slug

I wasted 700 hours on that piece of shit game that I will never get back desu. Why did it have to suck so much ass.

Which game are you talking about? I grabbed the pic at random out of my image folder.

BF1, the hotchkiss was the best LMG in that game.

Right, I see.
>why did it have to suck so much ass
Guess you should have paid more attention to the EA logo at the bottom lol. I hope you've learned your lesson

Assault rifle
Assault rifle with scope
Submachine gun
Submachine gun with huge clip
Pump-action shotgun
Semi-auto shotgun
Pistol
Pistol with silencer
LMG
Sniper rifle

For most modern games it's

>Assault Rifle
>Another Assault Rifle
>Yet Another Assault Rifle
>"Battle" Rifle which is just an Assault Rifle
>SMG that might as well be an Assault Rifle
>Sniper Rifle
>Another Sniper Rifle
>Shotgun that no one uses because it's shit
>Pistol which no one uses because it's shit
>Rocket Launcher that you are only allowed to use very rarely

I hate this shit, no variety

>full auto gun medium size
>full auto gun small size
>full auto fun large size
>gun that has short range
>semi auto gun with scope
>semi auto gun without scope
>unbalanced gun that never gets nerfed
>gun that has no business in historical setting
>melee weapon that somehow is often better than most guns
>grenade that breaks physics by only doing one thing instead of multiple things at once like in the real world

i think this is most easily answered with the original Doom weapon order (forgive me if i get it wrong)

1. Melee
2. Pistol
3. Shotgun (i believe the shotgun as the number 3 key has been a mainstay for a lot of first person shooters, like quake, serious sam, painkiller, half life 1 and 2 and Doom 3 and 4)
4. chaingun
5. plasma rifle
6. Rockets
7. BFG

of course the last 4 items could be swapped out for anything in any other game, but i think generally, the number keys and the weapons bound to them generally mark progression in a game by themselves. the numbers increasing in deadlness while the game increases in difficulty as it pushes towards its end

Blackwake does it a bit unusually
>Nockgun (no other gun in vidya is like this) imfdb.org/wiki/Alamo,_The_(1960)#Nock_Gun
>Blunderbuss (I guess you could call it a shotgun equivalent)
>Musket
>Hand Mortar grenade launcher
>and the unreleased Matchlock Arquebus which can fire its first shot forwards and its second shot backwards

>Archtypes
AR, Handgun(automatic), Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, Rocket Launcher, Hand Grenade, SMG, LMG, Revolver
>"Real" guns
AK47, M4/16, Glock, SVD, 1911, Mp5, Uzi, Deagle, M9, RPG, and many more

pistol
shotgun
light auto
heavy auto
rocket launcher
sniper

Here is your answer.

>OP asks for 10
>let's go with 5/6
1-800-come-on-now.jpg

This is pretty good since Doom and Wolfenstein are basically the great-granddaddy of the FPS genre, so you can see the influence shining through modern titles
>gun that has no business in historical setting
Thank you Battlefield """"""""1""""""""

OP here. Funnily enough, that page is partially where the idea for this thread comes from. I wanted to see how much Cred Forums's opinion correlates to that of TvTropes and whether their idea of "standard" is accurate
