I intended to ignore all that (which is unusual) my first time through TR 2013, but man it became too much fun to ignore. 100%ing RotTR was a chore at times though, mostly in those big areas you couldn't clear until several hours later.

Is RotR a good game? I played the reboot when it came out because AMD gave it out for free. I thought it was a good game but my perception might be skewed because the other game they gave out was Bioshock Infinite and anything would look amazing when played side by side with that travesty.

Bows are terrible. Its a lazy way to make the character an underdog and they always end up with stupid abilities. If they want a "realistic" game a bow shoukd not be able to fire an arrow into a cliffside, and then stay in place while an adult ziplines down.

The bow isn't terrible, it made sense when she was stranded without any weapons and needed to fashion something from forest materials. And also have a silent method of attack. Original plot, original characters, original locations, and Lara was modernized without Crystal being cucks and making her a womanlet chestlet like they did with her in Rise. If they had removed all the stealth tps mechanics from TR13, it would have been best modern Tomb Raider.
Of course then they threw all that out the fucking window with Rise. Copy pasted plot from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, characters are either cardboard cutouts or recycled from TR games going all the way back to Anniversary, and takes place in LMAO SNOW for the whole fucking game. That's of course not mentioning the fact that they upped the stealth tps to replace actual tomb raiding that they shoved off to the side for filler side content, and fucked around with Lara's design way too fucking much. Lara's a fucking icon with her own unique look and personality, but Crystal thought it would be a brilliant idea to change her so much that she literally becomes another generic western female character.

Yes in both 3 and 4 Drake was called out on his blind ambition. In 3 he almost lost Sully and in 4 almost ruined his marriage. The story didn't explore Norse Mythology enough. Instead it was about super-powered doppelgangers and angels with wings. People give Rises a lot of story but atleast it had a lot of build-up to the reveal of the Prophet. And the player slowly learning that immortality is actually real in this game.

My major issue with the new series is pacing. I was never the biggest TR fan, I played the first four and after that the series kinda dropped off my radar. Did they stop making numbered sequels?

Anyway in the old games you had bunch of levers, pressure plates, precision platforming and trap gauntlets as majority of the obstacles with only occasionally the major climax being combat oriented. In new series the puzzles are way shorter and seem to act as a breathers along with collecting and autoclimbing in between combat which is majority the gameplay.
