Name your character

>Name your character.

Batman always gives good results.

Pepito

>Choose your stats
>Spend 4 hours looking at guides to min-max everything

I fucking love it and hate it

Doctor Anus

Easy, I just name him after one of my real life acquaintances or famous eccentric townsfolk.

Name him after yourself you idiot

>Using a funny name
>Using your gamertag
>Using a random name
>Using a female name
>Using your real name
Which one is it gonna be v ?

I hope it's an MMO, because if you do this in a single player RPG, you are doing wrong you autismo.

I use my nickname
also this

Skipjack

Using the name of a character from a different game.

Random name, thank you.

I shall be known as Fluffy Pillowstone.

>I use my nickname
"I'm sorry but 'Knobgobbling faggot' is already taken"

>Game changes your character's alignment based on whether you choose custom or default character names
>Doesn't tell you

what gaem?

If it's fantasy I just use "Brandr". I forgot what it means I just found it on some name site. I use my real name if it's a modern setting or something.

>Generic filename or avatar for online play or I want to self insert
Sigma
>Anything else
I like to create unique characters for each game so names change frequently.

SMT II.
If you go with default names it shifts your alignment to Law because it's implying you're accepting the rules you're given instead of carving your own identity, or some shit.
It's pretty heavy too, I only named Aleph and it took me ages to shift my alignment back to Neutral. And it took me a while to even find out too, I only noticed when I went to the Chaos-aligned health center and they told me to fuck off.

>singleplayer game
>use a name that doesn't break the immersion and lore of the game
>multiplayer game
>something fucking stupid and retarded like WizardBear or SneakySneaker depending on the class i'm going to play

>Spend ages coming up with lore friendly name
>It's taken

ASS

>Game doesn't have a canon name for protag

Yep, in fucking singleplayer.

I go by lore or my own nickname

Definitive:

Canonical name > Your real first name > naming your character "fag" > naming after a similar character from another work > original character name you put serious thought into > fantasy name generator result > just your gamertag > "aaaa"

Never knew that. That's actually kinda cool.

>choose your stats
>dump them all into magic
>later find out that character never gets magic skills

>choose your stats
>remember that you wanted to try out a particular playstyle for this run
>realise that what you need to make the playstyle work is in the later half of the game

It's a neat concept, but also annoying. I liked the default names but I also wanted to go for Neutral on my first run since it gives more options for usable demons, weapons and available bosses, so having to mess around doing Chaos decisions to shift my alignment back in the early game and making those stupid donations was irritating and time consuming.

>give up halfway through or make it half into the game but you're already too burned out to continue playing

>ah, nigger, my friend
>come over here, nigger
>ah! nigger! I didn't see you there
>oh nigger...
there's never a wrong place for it

I alsways use a dwarf fortress name generator, no matter the race or gender of my character. Usually works out well enough

>Chicken Chaser eh? Why do they call you that then?

>naming your protag after your name
>that high on the list
>even being on the list
Seriously, if you name your character after yourself not only is that a sign you might have an ego problem, but it's also the least original thing you could do, except using the default name.

I'm really terrible at this. In an attempt to be somewhat creative I decided to just combine the first two letters of my first, middle, and last name. It's worked out okayish.

>Game lets you reset stats from time to time

I will always love you Diablo II

If you're naming your protag in a game, it's basically supposed to be you.

I use the name I would give my daughter who will never exist.
If that's not an option I use my gamertag.

I literally just go to meaning-of-names.com at this point and choose the least common + least pretentious sounding name.

>If you're naming your protag in a game, it's basically supposed to be you.
I wish I could be that immersed in a game. When I make a character I think of them as another person I'm guiding along.

>If you're naming your protag in a game, it's basically supposed to be you.
Haha, what? That's so ridiculous, it actually made me smile with confusion in real life. Ever heard of a little term called "role playing"? You don't need to create your virtual self in order to be immersed in the character.

I use my name in porng ames to feel more satisfied when I see them screaming it. ;^)

goddamn KOTOR

>You don't need to create your virtual self in order to be immersed in the character.
True but if you don't have a lot of imagination its easier to model the character after yourself

I look up the origin of my name or a name from history like Brutus. For a full name it would be something like: Brutus de Nihilo.

It's a mash up of different cultures but it's not Gary the Paladin.

>but it's not Gary the Paladin.
Thats a fucking amazing name desu.
Not to edgy, doesn't take itself to serious, bit funny

>gary tries to one-up me at work
>now he's besting me on Cred Forums
fucking gary, man

...

El faggeto.
Came up with it 10 years ago never changed it ever since.

>name your character
>game censors parts of the name because they vaguely sound like bad words

Being named Cuntface can really be a chore

If girl:
>Anarsis
>Erika
>Jill
If boy
>my second name

If I don’t really care about having a real name or whatever
>jillsandwich

BUTT

Dingus

>using such inappropriate words as your name

>Name every character Zero
>9/10 times the name is already taken

Well, what did you expect?
Zero is a cool sounding name, so of course everyone and their mum is going to use it.
