Monitor Thread

What sort of monitors are you using Cred Forums?
4k?
Gsync/ Freesync?
Ultrawide?
Curved?
What's just a meme and what do you think will last?

What do you think of the QNIX QX2710?
I'm looking for a second/side monitor to my main one. Any suggestions?

I have ASUS VX279N-W

27"
IPS-type
2560x1440
G-Sync
165 Hz
Calibrated to sRGB

9/10 it's ok

>patrician

Whats the point of 4k/1440p freesync if no AMD card can handle it

1280x1024 60Hz DELL

You use Nvidia then.

Oh same topic as yesterday, is this going to become a 'Monitors general' topic? I don't know too much about them so this'll be totes cool.

>4k?
16:9 2650x1080 and enjoying it so far!

>Gsync/ Freesync?
Freesync but with nVidia cards, gives me an excuse to consider AMD in a couple of years though.

>in b4 raging autists
I just don't upgrade my anything all the damn time, not because I can't afford it but because I don't need to.

>Ultrawide?
Yeppers

>Curved?
Sadly not, I think I'll go over 40" for a curved screen though. So once GPU's can handle 4k@60+FPS a fair bit better, I'll hop onto the 4k meme

>What's just a meme and what do you think will last?

I think 2k is a meme because there's already 4k out and that's getting a lot more marketing. Thus consumerism and capitalism that run society will ensure that it'll be what comes out.

Not sure about x-sync, I think it'll be something that'll stick around for a while. Though if AMD continues building for consoles AND if they manage to win the samsung deal I'm sure they'll get enough money to finally start pumping out good stuff.

I would've gone AMD this time round if they had enthusiast grade GPU's but with the 480 /generally/ on par with the 1060, I just couldn't quite bring myself to get it.

Plus, most of my games are DX11 and I don't generally buy into new titles often so I think Nvidia was a good choice for my needs.

Oh and, I'm using the LG 34UM68, I don't know why Monitor make/model isn't included as one of the questions.

I am currently using a 40' TV as my monitor. It's trash.
I want to switch to a three screen set up.
Any suggestions for monitors between the 100-250 American dollar range? Would like them to be at least 21 inch. Don't care if they are curved.

How are you supposed to know how good a monitor is unless you see it yourself in person? I'm saying this because I'm looking for some online but this shit is completely ambiguous.
Also, I'm looking for a good side-monitor for one high-end PC I'll be making by the end of this year.
Assuming your main monitor is as good as it gets, how good should a side-monitor be?

65 inch 4k tv with low input lag, and it can do 1080p @ 120hz

monitor cucks BTFO

Shit dude, how much did that set you back? Looks beautiful

>1080p
>65"
kek

1300

What he means (most likely|) is that it can either do 4k@60hz OR 1080p@120hz

Damn dude, well, long as you enjoy it is what matters. What's it like so far on a screen that massive?

i sit like 6 feet away on a couch with an xbox one controller, i use a wireless logitech keyboard with touchpad to browse the web, ect..

its great

Which is the best 165hz one out there?

120hzmonitors.com/monitor-list-120hz-144hz-165hz-200hz-240hz/

imo it should be the same model

PG279Q until every other model is tested. There's really no perceptible difference between 144Hz and 165Hz.

>low input lag
35ms? Pixel response time?

27"
2560x1440
IPS panel
60 Hz stock OC to 76 Hz

until they fix 1080p scaling on higher res panels i'm just sticking with 1080p 144hz

2x Dell U2515H, 25" 1440p IPS

2x Asus PB258Q, 25" 1440p IPS

not yet

TFT monitor and IPS phone screen right?

Acer X34, clocked to 100hz (one of the lucky few)

>4K

3440x1440

>Gsync/ Freesync?

Gsync (30-100)

>Ultrawide?

Yes

>Curved?

Yes

Built in monitor speakers and LED controls

Measurements, as always with technology.

65" is a bit too big for 2160p as a desktop, 48" is about as big as you'd want to go for something you sit at up close. I like my 40" 2160p monitor though I do miss the remote control.

how would this be for digital art ASUS PB258Q

I only have a meme ratio of 19:10

They're never going to 'fix' they 1080p scaling on 1440p which is what I assume you're talking about. 2160p however works beautifully for 1080p content because it just has to use multiple pixels as one. That's why in the end 8k will likely become the standard for monitors since it will be able to cleanly support 1080p, 1440p and 2160p.

They're pretty good, I have two of them.

They're decently color accurate and come calibrated decently (though it can be improved with an actual colorimeter if you want to spend the money)

They are great for any sort of photo/video editing.

>decently color accurate
this worries me, im specifically asking for digital painting. do you think its good enough for that? nice setup btw.

>What sort of monitors are you using Cred Forums? I use an old projector that I salvaged and refurbished at home, and whatever old panels I can scrounge. I have a VGA 1600x1200 TFT CRT, too. Buying new is for cucks.
>4k? No. Games and video looks fine at a lower resolution and I don't do professional design work so I don't waste my money and get cucked by industry.
>Gsync/ Freesync? I neither know, nor care what this means
>Ultrawide? 4x3
>Curved? top meme
>What's just a meme and what do you think will last?
Gsync/Freesync is a meme. Curved is a meme. Resolution for the sake of resolution is a meme.

I'm prob going to get VR goggles before a "4K" screen.

I do this with my projector, but I have a nice desk chair and don't use a wireless keyboard.

I have two mice, two controllers, and one keyboard hooked up.

If you are entry level professional, or similar, they will be fine.

The Dell U2515H will come calibrated from the factory a bit better than the Asus PB258Q, but they use the same exact panel.

If you are looking for real professional quality you'd need to spend 4-5x as much for a NEC or similar display.

Seems like since your budget isn't over $1k, this should be fine for your needs.

Monitor screen refresh rate in sync with GPU frame times is far from a meme.

>If you are entry level professional, or similar
kek nope im just a scrub trying to git gud on a budget. youre right, this seems perfect. thanks again

>I neither know, nor care what this means
How are you so out of touch with current monitor tech?

These are marketing terms for adaptive refresh rate (your screens refresh rate changes depending on the content your displaying)

This means a LOT less tearing.

Anyone has ACER XB270HU? Seems like a perfect monitor so there has to be a catch.

It's Acer, so quality control will leave a bit to be desired.

Dell U2711

thing is flawless, love 1440p at 27"

What do you think anons about this one?
I have it for a year and it is great monitor

Get one. Not a meme

Crossover 324k on the way from Korea right now on the advice of Wendell.

Here's hoping it's not covered in dead pixels and dies in a month.

Is 32" as far as you'd want to go with 2560 x 1440? Do they make 4k that small?

They are making 24" 4k monitors, for what reason i'm not sure, but they make em just fine.

You can find 4k anywhere from 24-120"

Though I'd recommend 36-46" for normal desktop use.

Can I get some recommendations? I need a monitor for design work bros, been using a Samsung SyncMaster 2233rz for everything. Any suggestions? IPS and QHD preferred.

amazon.com/SWIFT-PG279Q-27-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B017EVR2VM

...

samsung.com/de/consumer/displays/displays/tv-monitor/LT32E310EW/EN

Getting this soon. Tired of these huge monitor prices. 230€ for a 32 inch monitor that can also be used as TV seems fine for me, those bezels are worth sacrificing a few milliseconds.

And no, it's not a TV. Apparently it's some special hybrid series that Samsung has/had. Or is this some kind of trap?

It's essentially just a 32" 1080p monitor that has some TV functions.

In regards to which it more closely resembles, it would be a monitor since it can do 4:4:4 chroma subsampling.

That sounds pretty good, thanks a lot. Pretty much exactly what I need.

Gonna wait for another monitor that has the same specs as the X34 to see if that drives the prices down a little

Its hard to find any hard information on that monitor/TV, but from what I can tell it's just a large computer monitor but since most people dont want 1080p on a computer with such a large display they added TV functions to make it a multi-purpose display and give it a wider potential market.

From what I can tell it's only sold in Europe and Latin america.

>one of the lucky few
Is it really that rare? Guess I better count myself lucky too, zero problems with mine running at 100hz

Bought a 2nd hand 1440p monitor for 150 euro.
One thing about it though it didnt come with a stand so now im waiting until my VESA stand comes in might take 2 weeks though.

Tfw it has no bezel

Model?

No bezel screens are fucking beautiful. Nice find user.

1280x1024 NEC

Are there any higher-res 4:3 screens yet? The last time I checked years ago, everything was 16:9 or 16:10, so I resigned myself to keep using this monitor forever.

Let's say I got a perfectly working model. What should I expect?

I have that same one, got it cheap because it was open box item. Its awesome in image and build quality. Hoping to pickup a second one

Colors and pic are great, sure th stand is bad but Its a good looking monitor. Selling it probably, Havent used it since getting a tv.

1440p 60 hz

Sorry for late response
Its the Acer G277HUSMIDP

I managed to get a GTX 1070 for £340 new
But I'm kind of regretting it as my monitor is really subpar and G sync is expensive.

I'm not sure if I should get rid of it and buy a cheaper AMD card and a freesync monitor. I'm currently using this .

Are you enjoying the 2 8pin on your 1070

Why not just get 144hz with no memesync? It doesn't really matter, your GPU can output high enough FPS to make it unnoticeable.

Oh totally going to help mitigate the mini power station I'll have going on. I only got it because it was the lowest priced 1070 and paypal gave me a 10% off code.

Because until now I've been on a 750ti and I've never encountered screen tearing. I'm not sure about the difference between 144hz and 60hz visually.

Deus Ex MD still runs like ass, is it my ram?

>76° C

Are you sure you're not already using an AMD card?

Nope, not much of a clue why it's that hot either.

LG 29UM67-P
>2560x1080
>Freesync
>75hz refresh

The freesync/Gsync is a meme. Games that require low input lag still don't play well with it on. If you get an ultrawide I would recommend getting a 34 inch with curved display. They look better than this monitor but do cost a shitton.

I hope ultrawide gets more widely adopted once prices begin to drop.

is it that meme tacular? Anyway you can describe or show the difference between 60 and 144hz?

>29 inch ultrawide

Sorry man. I'd rather kill myself than use one of those.

saw this on Massdrop and it looks beautiful
but
>FreeSync
>Implying a fucking AMD card could handle 3440x1440

>patrician
>clearly using a monitor for woman and fags

LMAO

amd cards handle higher resolutions better than nvidia

Is Acer a good monitor brand? My LG is crapping out and I need to replace it.

Yeah but this gen even Nvidia's weakest card beats the 480

It's more about the smoother gameplay than the latency. If you don't cap your frame rate you will have the same amount of input lag on a 60hz or 144hz monitor. 75hz looks slightly smoother than 60hz during gameplay but not by much.
Starting to regret my purchase. I use this in conjunction with a 23in 1080 16:9 monitor and I have more screen space than I know what to do with. Probably should have gotten a 4k monitor instead.

Day one it was super cool. Now I think it's kinda stupid.

boys

might have to get a new monitor

if not, can I repair it/ get someone else to? I don't know if anyone in my area does?

Jesus Christ kid, you're a massive faggot.

lmoa

pixio 27" 1440p, ips, 144hz ( same panel as the asus / acer

only 400$

currently using samsungs curved 34inch monitor running at 3440 x 1440 60Hz

pretty nice, i just need more 21:9 porn

Ah, fair enough. I bought this monitor years ago when I was learning how to build a PC again, a lot changes in ten years .

I solved the heat issue with my 1070, something had got in the case, so luck it wasn't fried.

I think I may need new ram, those ones are about 6 years old.

1x 27" 4K
2x 24" 1080p
no gsync, no freesync, no ultrawide, no curved. resolution matters. gsync/freesync are kinda nice to have (but there were no 4k gsync/freesync monitors when i bought mine). ultrawide and curved are memes.

Dell P2414H, couldn't afford U2414H back then so i went with this. I'm still pretty happy about my purchase

The new AOC Agon thing with 165hz looks nice, Its the same price as the ROG and is IPS.

How much do you overclock your monitor? Mine gets 73hz as much, and the third one can't get OC'd without getting its resolution fucked somehow.

A mid-priced 1070 here is like 508€, but the lowest 1080 is 520€.
What 1070 did you get? maybe if I find a 380€~ one I'll get one next month, or save and and get a 1080.

Acer x34, only gripe is that some games don't play nicely with ultrawide resolutions

27"
1440p
144hz
1ms GtG

Only downside is the TN panel, but that's the sacrifice you make for such a low response time.
Also the antenna looking thing on the back is actually a headphone holder.

What's the model number of this tv

Gray to gray is a marketing gimmick
Nice job on your 16:9 gayming monitor faggot

My current one.
I don't plan to change anytime soon.

m65-d0, vizio.
rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/m-series-2016

here is a review of it

>because it just has to use multiple pixels as one

That's not really how upconversion works, you're oversimplifying it. Every monitor or tv has to convert lower res images up to their native res such as 4k and they use prediction algorithms to do so. Because of this no upconverted image is going to look perfect and native res is always going to look better.

Zotac 1070 AMP, got it for £340, it was listed at £380 but Paypal/ebay must have noticed me obsessing over cards and I got a 10% off code. So I jumped on it.

Oh, also my CPU is at 4.3 ghz.

How does it fare? was considering it for my next build.

Recommend me a good 1080p ips monitor that doesn't cost too much

That's a vague variable and you know it.

Too much for me is £250 + for that I'd expect at least 24" ips, 144hz good colours etc, also a blowjob.

Like 100-150 €

>check bent monitors at store
>it's unusable garbage

In Cred Forums I hear they have curved monitors
Curved. Monitors.

Just what I've got, and while I really like it, you can expect a few dead pixels. I've got several, but they gave me a partial refund and we called it a day.

i have it,
no dead pixels
a bit of bleed but wont notice it at all.

BUT its only stable at 96hz. cant go above it.

S2716DG is the only acceptable 1440 144Hz panel in terms of looks.

Mine came in on Tuesday, love it so far. Haven't tried to OC, but everything looks alot better, especially compared against the Asus VS248H‑P next to it.

probably a dumb question but do monitors have auto dim? sometimes i want to focus on one monitor like watching anime but dont want the 2nd monitor to neccessarily be off.
