There are people on this board RIGHT NOW who don't use the C programming language to write all their applications

>there are people on this board RIGHT NOW who don't use the C programming language to write all their applications

What's your excuse?

I'm not 45.

>using C
>not assembly

I fucking hate neet hobbyist programmers.

Java at work, Vala at home

>There are ppl on this board rn that feel the need to gloat to Cred Forums

>not using FORTH
>not using LISP

What's your excuse?
I use C++ or C# (depending on what I'm writing) instead.

I don't have an infinite amount of time.

I use c#

>What's your excuse?
Productivity and money.

I'm not a NEET that shits time and doesn't know about diminishing returns.

I use c++ for work. For home projects i do use c sometimes.

This.
In the time spent writing and debugging vs. time spent executing graph I tend to favour languages that make it easier and faster to write stuff. Unless it's time-critical - in that case C it is (possibly with assembly mixed in).

because i use haskell

Because it is not the best way to do everything.
I use C++ for a lot of things, but even that is too slow to develop some times.
Scripting languages are faster to develop with even though they are not as fast to execute.
C is even slower than C++ for the majority of applications and I only use it where C++ is too buggy or tends to explode on platforms where I need to utilize all I have.

I don't even know how to program

I only barely know python

I grew out of that approach in the second year of university.

I'm reading K&R and I don't understand why anyone would willingly use C over more convenient languages

Speed

k&r is meme.

C++ is just as fast and that is a lot more convienient

>k&r
That's the install gentoo equivalent of C

C is not good for quick scripts, or really any small scale programs that need to be developed quickly, but which don't need to have particularly amazing performance.

because you can accomplish the same thing with bash more quickly

Depends on what I am writing.

My excuse is the school system forces me to use java

Writing drivers.

I use C++ because I am not a tech illiterate that is limited to just C.
What is your excuse for not using C++ OP?

Go is very useful and has an excellent ecosystem. I prefer that over most for le ebin webapp meem. Thankfully I rarely have a need for it.

I use Nim and Rust.

>he's too stupid for K&R

>not machine code

and you call yourself the PC Master Race.....

>What's your excuse?
I use Fortran.

I specialize in engineering / science, not programming.

It is more cost effective for me to throw more computer at a problem than more time coding.

I can bang out python/matlab at breakneck pace to do my work, and if I need some extra performance, I can link in some C or fortran. Most the time I just use more flops.

I like CL

why are you shouting?
