I love Google, better than M$ or Apple, Google contributes to open source and has a huge team who works full time on Linux and a lot of shit like AOSP and Chromium is open source, sure I dislike a lot of their spying shit but they have done some very good things compared to Apple or Microshit, I applaud Google and I'm buying a Google Pixel and installing my self compiled AOSP no GAPPS on it, Google is by far one of my favorite companies

some 15 years ago they had the best fucking search engine because it was designed perfectly around the limitations of dialup and thus delivered search results lightning fast

their web browser seemed to come along at just the right time as firefox was becoming more and more bloated chrome was lightning fast

it's all gone downhill. their search engine layout is fucking awful. they keep making retarded decisions with their browser. that's all they were good at and they're shit at both now

Increasingly more of Android is becoming closed source sadly, even basic things like the Google search app, music player app, etc etc

I do think eventually all the key components of Android will be closed source and it'll be made more and more of a pain for Hardware Manufacturers to replace these apps with their own in house versions.

Not to mention the increasing dependence of apps on Google Play Services, something which will also make things harder for any OEM who doesn't want to be stuck to the propriety Google parts of Android forever.
