why is it always antivirus software that pulls that shit

Antivirus software, like “gaming” drivers, are designed for the lowest common denominator of retard out there.

It appeals to kids and people with low standards.

>have eset 8
>refined UI, no bullshit
>upgrade to 9
>UI becomes crap, menus reorganized poorly and no longer follow OS design theme
Remember when antivirus was professional

Remember when antiviruses were necessary?

I don't

There could be a valid reason, like if you avoid windows common controls/other WINAPI as much as you is the less your program is vulnerable to the exploits for your OS.

However, it's probably just design crap, so it looks "cool".

after you uninstall it opens your browser
"thanks for uninstalling, please complete our survey"

>Remember when antivirus was professional

So you don't ever remember working in a corporate environment where information needs to be kept safe, but you can't trust the retard in the cubicle next to you to not email it all to your competitor?

They could still imitate the UI so that it's not jarringly different. Most AVs nowadays look indistinguishable from keygens

>the installer is a downloader for the actual installer
>it needs to update right after installation
>"please register to continue using this software"

a price tag
to tpb i go
never pay for shit the should be free (everything should be free on computers anyway)

>everything should be free on computers
get out of here you fucking commie

>>Remember when antivirus was professional

Synergy is bretty gud. Used for about two years to control a laptop with a dead screen and keyboard hooked up to a crt next to my other laptop

kek

That looks like a virus

>Get *random software* now with this simple npm command
>npm

better than nortan and mcfee

>md5
that shits sending user data back to home, no wonder why its free

actually I meant synergy as a buzzword, not the software

kill yourself, its 1's and 0's
not even. its just sparks
also kill yourself if you believe in money
stupid colored paper imaginary number game has gone on way too long
humans should evolve past monetary systems

>cloud technology
It was made in visual basic anyway and just downloaded a short list of md5 values
A 12 year old probably made that

Trying too hard. Better luck next time.

>better than nortan and mcfee

>no AUR package
>installs in /opt

>made by Adobe or Microsoft

>So you don't ever remember working in a corporate environment where information needs to be kept safe, but you can't trust the retard in the cubicle next to you to not email it all to your competitor?
Right, because antivirus software prevents you from spilling corporate secrets.

Retard much? In the corporate world, antivirus is unnecessary because users have no privileges.

>want to download trial version
>nowhere does it mention the limitations of the trial

>source is hosted on github
>has more forks than commits

its what i actually believe
I always get called troll for this for some reason, even irl

Trial is by definition a full-featured version which works for a limited amount of time.

Are you retarded?

You need AV to lock down users computers so the HR bitch doesn't download 'limewire' and get the entire fucking network hacked

Because we'd rather believe you are a troll, and not a complete retard. We have hopes for you user.

You don't pay for the sparks that a computer or any electrical device uses for that matter. You pay for the end result of those sparks.

And as far as the green paper is concerned, get over it. There is no other trading system that wouldn't get even more corrupt that the green paper trading system.

Unless you have a truly magnificent and revolutionary solution to the money problem, I suggest you rethink your ideals.

I'm not even trying to be an asshole here, I'm writing this out of concern.

As a buzzword it's pretty good too, what don't you like about synergy? I promote it where possible

>nevermind the countless hours that developers, designers and testers have put into creating the software
get out of this board, you poor excuse of a troll

I see you've absolutely never worked in a corporate environment. Carry on then.

>site is full of pop-up ads

you're not fooling anybody.

google group policy, active directory, and maybe also permissions, because you clearly have never heard of any of them

>asks you constantly to pay for premium, especially when premium is just one feature you actually want + tons of useless features
>written in java
>custom window borders
>installer "gently persuades" you to download 5 other programs
>installer doesn't even tell you it's about to install 5 random programs you don't want (FileZilla did this to me, for some reason)
>open source but not maintained at all
>focused on UI so much that finding what you want requires going into 4 different menus to change it
>vague error messages with an error log that tells you nothing
>installer installs installer, so there's no way to install offline (pretty big red flag in my book)
I'm okay with some proprietary software, but this next thing pisses me off about them
>monthly/yearly payment instead of just a one time payment
>written for linux, handholds you for the ubuntu install with nothing for other distros, you compile it yourself, "make[1] failed: error code 2..." and you're left with nothing
>site tells you all about how to install it, what the features are, FAQ, how to contribute, etc. but no "download" page, and you have to look through every section for it
>site only has a download page and a features list, but no page for installation, contribution, contact, bug report etc.
>developer assumes you have 32 bit, so the default download button just gives you that, and you have to look all around for the 64 bit one
>developer insists that mercurial is the best form of version control
>anything with over 300 open issues
>developer constantly insists that "you could use X or Y, but X is so much better than Y in almost every way so just use X" and has no troubleshooting for anyone who used Y, even if Y is more popular. "Solution" is to use X. (not talking about gentoo, here)
>software has a good portion of it made in python, since that means each update is a major update which could break other programs that depend on it (especially if last updated a year ago)

>any of those things
>stopping retards
I don't think you know exactly how ingeniously retards can get around everything you try to set up

none of that will stop someone from plugging in their laptop to the network (inb4 hurr MAC whitelisting, as if someone can't just spoof their MAC) and infecting all the other computers through the network.

none of that will stop privilege escalating network trawling 0-day exploits. If you're running windows and think you can protect yourself with policy alone, you're going to end up with a lot of ransomware, and a very angry boss

>md5 technology
Gets me everytiem

>he truly believes an antivirus product will stop 0-day exploits and network infections
Name a SINGLE virus that has ever been blocked on 0-day by an antivirus in the history of computing.

I don't think you understand how antivirus software works at all. All it is is basically a list of files to delete upon detection. They're trivial to bypass, just changing a single bit will fool them.

If you give money to antivirus companies you are literally being scammed.

>heuristics, what's that?
Stop posting please

Get out!

In general software, Java.

In games, Unity. Fucking Unity.

>written for linux, handholds you for the ubuntu install with nothing for other distros, you compile it yourself, "make[1] failed: error code 2..." and you're left with nothing

If you can't resolve dependency errors when running make I don't know what to tell ya bruv. If Ubuntu hand holding is literally telling you which packages to install (libs/wares/daemons). All you need to figure out is that those are callled (pro tip: THEY HAVE THE SAME FUCKING NAME) in your distro.

I swear the only people who post this are Archfags who are incapable of doing anything without the package manager or wiki literally spelling it out for them. Googling the fucking error message? Why the fuck would you do that.

Show me a SINGLE example of an antivirus heuristic ever catching a 0day

securitywatch.pcmag.com/security-software/315053-can-your-antivirus-handle-a-zero-day-malware-attack
Actual fucking professions test this shit all the time. Top AVs will have 90% effective detection of 0-days

but don't you know the mona lisa is just 3$ worh of paint :DDDDDDDDDDD

everything is just arrangements of the same dozen or so particles

>setup doesn't automatically delete itself
>no uninstall exe
>uninstall exe leaves behind logs and empty folders

>help tab opens your web browser
>servers hosted in any Five Eyes countries

>Tip of the day window pops up at start
whyyyyyy

violasoft could mean rapesoft if that program comes from a spanish speaker.
