Firefox is still the best browser tbqh fame smdh

Excluding IE, of course

I mostly use FierFox seriously chrome is compel shit why do people even use it?

And the article is right
Stand up for yourself now or be forever silent.
Stand up or be enslaved forever.

>article from two years ago
>probably your own blog
OP is a faggot

I've tried to get this through to people but there is a huge segment of the dumbshit population (sadly here on Cred Forums too) who just want their computer to go vroom vroom like a hot wheels car. Those are the retards who'll surrender their own wife's son to Jewgle if it makes their searches for dicknipple xj-9 porn a picosecond faster

Jewgle is infinitely worse than Microsoft ever were. Assuming we don't hit societal collapse sometime soon I would rate them as possibly the greatest threat to humanity in the developed world. No exaggeration.

I never ever even considered Chrome exactly for those reasons.

I don't like where Firefox is going, but there is no alternative for me.

>infinitely worse than Microsoft ever were
That's bullshit and you know it user. They may have greater potential to become worse than Microsoft, but we're not there yet at all.

Chrome is the new IE.

People just use it by default. They don't really have a reason.

I can't even get chrome to stop contacting google at certain times (like opening a new tab)

Firefox has this stuff documented:

support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections

>muh vendor lock-in
>chromium is open source

If you want something that respects your freedoms and guards privacy, Opera 40 is basically chromium with better features and even has a free vpn service built-in.

github.com/Eloston/ungoogled-chromium

Get back to me the next time Microsoft has a monopoly on genetic engineering or feelers into constructing CPU plants on a fucking lunar base

> a state where the Internet is really only accessible through Chrome (or Android apps), that situation will be very difficult to escape from
That would be a great normalfag filter

Firefox does not support hardware acceleration on my laptop, so I have to use chrome there

Internet is Freedom.
Google is Slavery.

Someone should make a sticker or something.

>free vpn
>free
>vpn
Pick one

Are you trying to imply that google has monopoly on genetic engineering?

layers.acceleration.force-enabled

>muh extensions

that's literally the only thing it has going for it. everything else is inferior.

Do CPUs grow on plants now? Amazing.

Half the site disappears then
Fotcing anything else also doesn't work, as this laptop only has a directx 9 gpu

Lol ''use the inferior product because monopoly''. Fuck that. Anyway, I'm using Opera.

>That's bullshit and you know it user. They may have greater potential to become worse than Microsoft, but we're not there yet at all.

Wrong, we are already there, in fact they have already done it better than Microsoft ever even dreamed of. For two reasons:
1. the overwhelming majority is already using their stuff for the most part, and
2. they are getting away with it.

You know how Windows 10 gets all its bullshit for trying to build up internal markets and submitting shit ton of telemetry? They are literally just copying Google.

Google is yet to start doing bad things on the scale Microsoft was doing them. The telemetry is nothing compared to blackmailing vendors.

I don't have any problems with firefox, why would is use anything by google?

Can you stop perpetuating the 90s MS is evil MEME?
You literally blamed MS for including a browser in their OS while everyone is doing it now.

There was nothing wrong in MS including a browser into their OS.

Everyone fucken knew that IE was the browser that you used to download other browsers.

You bitching that
>Muh HDD space
and
>Muh security vulnerabilities
Is horse shit modern distros have a shit tone of other crap in them and all of them can be exploited like bash having exploits so stop bitching.

If you are saying
>MS evil for including IE
You are a idiot who eats up everything the propaganda centers in newspapers told you to believe in. Netscape did have connections to the gov and decided to crap on MS with their ridiculous propaganda.

>free VPN literally provided be the Chinese government

I never said MS is evil for including IE.

MS is evil for forcing Windows onto vendors using unfair business tactics.

Can you stop perpetuating the 10s MS has changed MEME?

It still extorts patent money for some FAT32 hack and has tried pushing w10 like mad

No MS has turned into Satan in the 10s.
>MS is evil for forcing Windows onto vendors using unfair business tactics.

Red pill me on this.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Microsoft

Fuck you and fuck SJWfox

e/v/in

Can you copy past the paragraph where its talking about the
>forcing Windows onto vendors using unfair business tactics.

I really don't have the time to decipher a whole shitpedia article where the first line starts with a linuxer talking about linux VS windows.

This crap is getting old.

Thanks

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Microsoft#Licensing_agreements

Actual Firefox is just as bad if not worse now. Pale Moon and Seamonkey are the few alternatives left, and Pale Moon is run by a single autistic furry who wants to throw all addon compatibility out the window.

ESR + classic theme restorer provide the bestest freedoms

>worse than Chrome out of the box because it comes with ads in your new tab page

Nah.

Serious question why are all the GNU/ FSF/FOSS people not promoting a hardware company that puts laptops/computer that are good for them?

Non of this not giving drivers crap.
Or insane lock-in schemes.

Why?

Why don't you get a firm that will assemble computers that have parts with drivers for linux and no OS installed? And this firm never will be interested into getting MS stickers or their OS?

This bulling looks like this:
>If you don't install windows on every computer I will increase the price of windows licences
Buu Hoo scary, if you are not interested in licencing windows this means nothing to you.

Still sends your data to google, but you can fix it.

Plugins are for faggots and useless.

There is such company, system77 or something like that.

Ye, yet all these GNU/Linux/BSD/FOSS/FSF are not promoting it.

These people are literally siting on their asses while RMS masturbates himself publicly with his software lecturers on FREE software.

The fact that the name is not known speaks volumes of how bad the FSF and these clowns fucked up. Their priorities are ass backwards.

What do you mean by promoting?

What are your complaints? All i hear are 'performance', which I think Mozilla are slowly starting to listen to judging by recent changelogs.

Talk about it.
Say
>get hardware that is not MS infested
>Like from system77

Like The Raspberry Pi that was advertised like fuck.
Or talk about it like they did with ubuntu to get normies to want it.

Or at least send the message to the Cred Forumsentoman crowd.

The fact that people here are bitching about some hardware vendor fucking them over and not knowing a vendor that is not sleeping with MS speaks volumes.

RMS we don't need a lecture on the difference between GNU and Linux we need you to tell people what hardware vendors are blessed.

The main problem with RMS is that he is delusional and this is shown with GPL2 VS GPL3.

The hardware is king, if you don't have hardware that respects you, you are fucked.

>Fixed with 2 clicks
Nah

>why do people even use it?
Because Google is an advertisement company. It comes pre-installed on every Android phone. It comes bundled with software (on Windows). It gets suggested each time you visit Google. They're using all their tricks to get people to use it.

Millions of people recommending it to their technologically illiterate parents/siblings/etc. certainly didn't help. It's the new IE, only worse.

I don't care if normals are dumb/lazy enough to fall for it, it's when Cred Forums starts unironically shilling that I get triggered

maybe he uses compromised hosts

GNU is an operating system project.
FSF deals with software issues.
They are non-profits. They're not going to make business deals with any hardware manufacturer.

If you need a laptop do your research. Otherwise you can build a PC.

It renders incorrectly in exchange for being 1% faster

for people who only need to use facebook, faster = better

If their browser didnt fucking crash all the time I'd happily use firefox.

>omgz google is ze ebin!!1"
>dev-teams generously use google-services for coordinating tasks and schedules
hypocrites.

might have buggy addons/plugins or something, it never crashes here

Cost an insane amount of money to manufacture such a niche product to a very slim margin of people. You're talking about a small minority inside of an already small minority of people inside the linux ecosystem...

Because contrary to what Stallmanite retards think the world doesn't run on bubblegum and rainbows

I dunno, I get weekly crashes, but then I have 600 tabs open on (what I assume is) a 32-bit web browser. I used to do this on Chrome, but then that web browser would eat 14 GB of ram. I'll take periodic Firefox crashes in exchange for system stability.

I would try opera for my shitty work pc, but it seems they don't have a 32bit build. So meh, I'll stick with palemoon since it's the one that performs the best in this shitty pc.

Im about to move away from it because I dont think it has the right to use gigabytes of data for basic shit, also mozilla is sjw plebs now and cant into programing.1

Seamonkey is better.
* It doesn't require addons to be signed, so you can modify your addons without compiling firefox from source or installing an unstable version
* Its UI doesn't change every fifteen seconds
* It's based on Gecko and closely related to firefox
* It's hosted by the Mozilla project
* It's compatible with many FF addons and with many more when run through a simple converter addonconverter.fotokraina.com/
* It has an extremely comprehensive menu with a ton of options that require about:config in firefox listed plainly in Seamonkey
* It has about:config as well (of course)
* It has a built-in cookie editor (about:data).
* It has some awesome themes available
* It's free and open source.

It's also better than Chrome in all the above ways, plus it supports APNG.

This, currently using Sea-based-monkey with the XPFE_Classic theme. Comfy as fuck tbkh

>opera
>closed source and doesn't work with my computer because my libc is too new

>Implying

I'm using the Firefox 3 theme, with the 'maxVersion' string fixed in 'install.rdf', and the 'grippies' for hiding toolbars made visible.

this one addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/firefox-3-theme-for-seamonk/

I think I am also using a couple userChrome.css tweaks due to my GTK theme for consistency.

Forgot to mention, I also get a motherfucking status bar.

>Chropera

>600 tabs open
What the actual fuck? This is some grand mal autism - you need immediate access to 600 different pages at any time?

Not him but I fail to see the issue.

...

>massquoting

The sad thing is, SeaMonkey is on life support right now. Changes to Gecko, lack of developers and lack of interest has fucked the project hard.

Goddammit, SeaMonkey's the only viable alternative to Opera 12. It's my backup plan for when I actually can't use Opera.

Just use the Pale Moon alpha.

Chropera ftw. Guys, just accept the fact that Mozilla's engine can't compete with Blink.

I couldn't give less of a shit which engine renders pages faster, it's the features that matter. Blink based browsers in general suck in that regard and I refuse to use Chropera since it's a failed abortion of Opera

...

I agree, I really like the inbuilt adblocker instead of Ublock eating my RAM, I really like the inbuilt free VPN, I like the video popup feature, I like the book mark management since I have a shitload of bookmarks, I like Opera turbo. And snappiness is also a feature.

Firefox's engine can't compete and its marketshare will continue to fall.

>seamonkey is better because it's identical to Firefox, except it's name isn't "Firefox"

You need to reread my post.

its called being successful, and you be successful by any means necessary

>Not Cyberfox

when will my favorite addons be ported to firefox mobile?

No I don't. Firefox lost nearly 5% of its marketshare over the 1 year period. If it loses another 5% in the following year, its marketshare will be down to 2%.

New firefox bullshit is breaking the best addon ever: Pentadactyl.

So I've been chilling w/ my new buddy Pale Moon

I never said anything about Firefox and said Chropera was shit, then you replied to me saying you agreed then went on about how wonderful Chropera was.

I said I agree that features matter and went on to mention all the features that matter to me. Your remark that ''blink based browser generally suck'' is baseless.

It's entirely accurate. There are no good Blink based browsers.

bump

>You should use Ronson, otherwise Zippo restricts your freedoms and kills fire
>You should buy Datsun, otherwise Ford controls the highways!
>You should grow your own vegetables and trade for food you don't have, otherwise Walmart will be the only way to get food in the future

OP doesnt understand how a market works

Qupzilla or PaleMoon is what firefox should have strive to stay like, a lightweight no-nonsense browser but it bloated itself up with stupid feature creep, and when firefox developers screwed with the toolbar and made it so i could not keep the back & forwared button on the far left then the stop & refresh, and then the home button all on the left hand side, left of the address bar, that was the last straw, and i hated firefox ever since,

>plugins
>not using gm scripts

at least newest release is slightly better

>Removed Firefox Hello

Think of tabs more look bookmarks that starts at you so you don't forget about them except you forget anyway.

And added Netflix's crappy DRM.

>all this teenage angst
>using outdated rendering engines and browsers with crap security in opensource forks
>le opensource crap based on outdated sources is way safer than the multi million dollar product from the most innovative and powerful tech company based on the same but newer codebase
>i want my browser to be tinfoiled yet I use an Android phone with Google apps
>I decided to castrate my smartphone by choosing not to run any proprietary software
>I maintain my own cloud services for myself and my cat and I spend gazillion days on fixing it when some opensource service goes away so I can then stream Chinese cartoons while shitting in mcdonalds
>I am so edgy and cyberpunk because I am off the grid yet I still connect to the internet
>I want to be productive using impractical tools that you need to learn for years while other people achieve the same with simpler tools
>minimal/barebones is always good despite the overhead
Nah, Cred Forums is underage as fuck maan. Firefox is getting fucked unless they somehow magically manage to un fuck their clusterfuck of a browser.

And no, if they still decide to go the lol we're a web developer browser they're still gonna get bent with their inferior speed.

Yeah that and the fact that it's not a botnet

>this degree of shilling

Fuck off, Huang. Nobody's going to use Chrome: Extra Botnet Edition, because anybody with an IQ over 60 knows that things like """""free""""" VPNs are a fucking scam.

Sounds retarded, like most anime.

Just gimme the context of the webm, I can probably fap to that.

>image
Fuck you

So I'm out of the loop. What the fuck exactly is the issue with firefox, and is pale moon effected?

I remember all the insults and mockery when we mourned old opera. I remember the stupid retards telling bullshit like "it can't render webpage derp".

Browser plurality didn't seem important back then, it shouldn't be now, right?

Let me appreciate this moment when you are punished by your own sin. You'll do like me, you'll use an old version of firefox when it's abandonned just like I use opera 12.15.

How does using Firefox help it survive? Are they mining and selling my data?

ANSWER THIS

Finally FLAC support in firefox guizee!!!!!!!!!!

Using Firefox doesn't primarily help them to survive, it helps the web.

And W3C will consider them more seriously (to sum all that up, they need to add DRM to the standard browser now because they don't have enough users for both).

They didn't actually add DRM, they added support for it. If you visit a website that uses the particular DRM plugin firefox will tell you the site needs that plugin to display DRM'd content and give you a prompt which directs you to where you can download the plugin. This is no different from how flash, java, silverlight work.

>muh sjw

seamonkey is literally a continuation of mozilla internet suite, what mozilla made before it was split into separate applications (firefox and thunderbird)

Firefox/gecko forces web devs to build their site against standards rather than against chromium. More rendering engines is best for the web, even Edge/IE is useful here for preventing another IE6-like scenario

going off what someone has mentioned before, apparently she did something wrong and is trying to get a young boy to spank her as punishment

palemoon is better than firefox

CAN Cred Forums HAVE ONE GODDAMN THREAD WITHOUT ALL THIS FUCKING MEME SJW BULLSHIT NO ONE IN REALITY GIVES TWO FUCKING SHITS ABOUT

Jesus fuck, please.

>want to move to chromium
>its hiDPI support is shittier compared to firefox
Does vivaldi has the same problem? Or since it's chromium based, it would have the same problem too?

firefox has god-tier extensions

usin firfox wut da fug XD XD XD

Too late, me Opera now. FF has only one chance to stay relevant - drop all of their code base and finish Servo.

I really dislike chrome. It's not bad, technically speaking, actually it's really good in that sense.

However, I will always use firefox. I will always support a real open-source project over an advertising tool. Also noscript

>hiDPI
Meme bullshit. Stop using high resolutions on tiny displays, it's just stupid.

Confirmed for having never seen a high res display

Confirmed for being fooled by viral marketing and buzzwords into thinking a high resolution screen belongs on a small display.

High resolution means sharper text and images, sorry if you're blind but not everyone is.

It looks better. Back then when I was still using 768p 14", I need to use mactype to make the font better. But now since I use 1080p 14", I don't need it anymore.

>if you want internet
>aka google services

lol. Is gmail the only email now?

Anyways

Mozilla SJWs are slowly realizing that nobody wants to use a desktop browser in place of their whole OS

support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/hello-status

There is still hope

Because the fsf is not about ethics or freedom, it's about a bunch of MIT-style "hackers" that want to fuck with their software who just talk about ethics and freedom to get clueless gits on their side

They're also in "i want it but i'm stuck" situation with copyright reform, because they use copyright to essentially steal your code

No, it means smaller fucking text that you fucking ruin by scaling up twice as large to see it which completely fucking negates the fact that you have that smaller display. You goddamn dumbfuck. USE LOGIC, CHILDREN.

You are beyond retarded. Quit pretending your assumptions are facts.

Actually scaling after anniversary update is nicely done right.

I always use Firefox because of the addons but you gotta admit it runs like shit, even of Cred Forums, compared to Chrome-based shit, but I dislike Chrome because it's not customizable.

Is Vivaldi not shit yet?

Former Pale Moon user here, I like Vivaldi.

Which company is less evil, Google or Apple?

It's almost upgrade time.

I really find tannins aesthetically repugnant, I don't know if I could go full Apple.

Google is an information gatherer, they make technology but their ultimate mission is to know everything. To learn everything they make attractive products and services mostly in the technology sector to get people to use their services. The information that people give them is combined together and used to generalize large demographics and sold to groups who are interested in that kind of information.

firefox is killing itself, changeset by changeset

bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1247056

Firefox is shit.

My default is IE11, though questionably so at this point... with the anniversary update, they destroyed its stability...

I'll use Edge sometimes, though.

I only use Chrome for some stuff.

I'd consider Opera, though, as a possible alternative.

But Firefox is objective technological diarrhea and doesn't need to exist.

Ultimately, I'd like to make my own web browser sometime that could compete.
Something designed for universality, security, features, and customization.
>inb4: like Firefox
Yeah, LIKE Firefox, but not the whole... failing on all fronts thing.

I've never had security issues like when I used Firefox a number of years ago. Never had the same level of certificate errors even for legit sites. Never had such slowness. Never had such a generally BAD experience than with Firefox.
>Except maybe when I tried Midori on a Fedora distro I briefly tested.

Imagine if linux had just stayed on OSS and improved that rather than trying to make their own clusterfuck

Cyberfox is nice

>added a cause column to the Network Monitor to show what caused each network request.

Fuck you google shills who killed firefox.

Firefox is shitty. I use Opera Chromium but it's not that great. Pretty much all options suck balls.

That is pretty cool. The dev tools are one of the best things about modern firefox.
