Bristol Ridge isn't Zen, you dumb shill. It's still using Excavator, as the article clearly states.

>HEVC 8-bit Main Profile Decode Only at Level 5.2
>VP9 decode is a hybrid solution via the driver, using CPU and GPU

AYYMDPOORFAGS CONFIRMED ON SUICIDE WATCH

That's not zen though, it's just DDR4 support and something else dumb that's new

This is another line of 28nm Excavator chips. As such, the performance being garbage is literally years old news. Have you gotten yourself confused here, user?

AYYMDPOORFAGS think anyone doesn't know what Bristol Ridge is, Zen is garbage also and delayed to 2017

>I kn-knew all along...!

Yeah, we're done here.

This, my african-american friend.

STAY MAD, AYYMDPOORFAGS

AYYMD, GARBAGE COMPANY FOR GARBAGE FANBASE

it's excavator, what did you expect? any bulldozer family chip will have high freqs, low IPC.

that it's almost toe to toe with i3's is actually a good thing because it's going to retail for similar prices and absolutely shit on them at 3d perf.

>another anti-AMD thread featuring retarded memes in all caps shouting.

literally the most boring shitposter on the board. go back to Cred Forums already.

Anyone that gives the slightest shit about 3D on a desktop can pop in the cheapest budget card and shit over any integrated trash.

why is Ciri so qt

/thread

Those are impressive numbers from the athlon x4 845 given that it has no onboard graphics. Given the 40% IPC improvement that's promised along with the die shrink, the four core zen cpus and apus might be fucking beastly if they clock decently.

yeah i'm actually impressed with how it nearly matches a i3 haswell.

for being faildozer that's actually an accomplishment. excavator really brought some decent single threaded performance boosts.

For being a 65w 28nm chip that is half IGP its incredibly impressive.
What AMD managed to squeeze out of a cheap generic 28nm process is astounding.

Even if Zen has the promised +40% single thread IPC, it will still be below an i3.

you still have to contend with noise, case room and higher power draws

it's a niche but APUs are still the best for cheapo gaming desktops and laptops

bulldozer's last hoorah, it seems. if it delivers then at least we know AMD can improve on IPC improvements and that bodes well for Zen.

that's bristol ridge. excavator. not zen.

you dumb shithead shill.

96 * 1.4 = 134.4 < 138

>HEY GUYS LOOK ZEN IS A DISASTER

>posts chip that isn't Zen

it's excavator

why are you making claims about zen with an excavator chip as reference

>different power envelopes
>different lithography
>different clocks

you're comparing apples to aubergines.

AMD claimed that Zen is 40% faster than excavator.

40% more IPC, no 40% more FPS in Autism Simulator nor 40% more points in Meme Benchmark

No one said it was Zen, fucker

40% higher IPC at a given frequency. But that being said, Zen will not be clocked higher than 3.5 GHz. So the ball is still in Intel's court since 40% better IPC at lower clockspeeds will put Zen behind Kaby Lake at a clock-to-clock comparison.

>But that being said, Zen will not be clocked higher than 3.5 GHz

We'll see.

>So the ball is still in Intel's court since 40% better IPC at lower clockspeeds will put Zen behind Kaby Lake at a clock-to-clock comparison.

Not to mention it's also on an inferior process node. No one expects it to beat Kaby Lake in ultimate performance, at least in single thread. It's a question of cost/performance. The performance margin will be tiny, and if they're flogging them off like they are these excavator cores then it'll be a great product.

The APUs will be even more interesting given their onboard graphics *will* definitely be lightyears ahead of intel, which could be game changing for the budget and notebook market.

>*will* definitely be lightyears ahead of intel
Have you not seen Intel's latest generation Iris graphics for their mobile Kaby Lake CPUs? It threatens an RX 460.

>We have made huge progress in power consumption deduction, we can apply to old arch.
>95w vs 65w with increased capability
>Cred Forums is trying to push zen into the mud.

why?

>Iris
literally 3x the price

You've missed my point. Intel are now making iGPUs that trespass into AMD's own low-end dGPUs. You spend less money on an Intel CPU with an Iris Pro iGPU than you would on a non-Iris Intel CPU with an RX 460, but you get almost the same performance with a lower power consumption penalty (mobile processor versus a desktop one).

>It threatens an RX 460
[Citation Needed]

discrete budget gpus are invariably terrible value for money, so that's not too shocking, and zen apus will be polaris-based anyway. at the very worst the onboard graphics will be comparable. want to guess which will end up being vastly cheaper? no prizes.

>another illiterate anti-AMD thread

AYYMD garbage company unable to compete at all

>Athlon X4 845 which we reviewed with DDR3
>DDR3
REEEEEEEE

The igpu is decent

that bench is with older apu, the new has much faster ddr4 and +30% core speed

>spend like 300% more money for barely better performance
>using an iGPU in that price range

Intel's GPUs are "better" because they have a large buffer cache. AMD's GPUs do not have that but manage to destroy them price/performance-wise. The lack of a buffer cache means better performance/watt as well.

>a 28nm chip is beating Intel's 14nm chips for just 10 Watts more
How did they do it

>You've missed my point. Intel are now making iGPUs that trespass into AMD's own low-end dGPUs
For about 10x area and TDP cost

Complete garbarge compared to any budget graphics card

Did they mislabel it on the chart?
