So I have cut down the list to three distros now:
1. Xubuntu
2. Korora
3. Manjaro Xfce

Which one should I install? Note that I am coming from windows 8.1 and I'm looking for the one distro I can live the rest of my life with. So it has to be user friendly.

Always used xubuntu as my go-to beginner distro. It's comfy and minimalist and in most cases just werks

Definetely Xubuntu

Did they finally fix that bug where your mouse disappeared after suspend?

Does catalyst work with it?

What the fuck is Korora

The better Fedora

I installed Xubuntu on my desktop a week ago. I'd go with that for simplicity. Also for nice a Xfce4 desktop watch midfingr on youtube.

I actually had "User" as my username for 2 years, cpu usage was fine and it was faster than win 7

>mouse disappeared

Never experienced that bug, dont use amd so no idea about catalyst.
Just try it on a livecd mate and see if you like it

>I can live the rest of my life with
A rolling release distro.

>So it has to be user friendly
Manjaro or Antergos

I like Antergos better.

What's better/so special/so different about Antergos fared to Manjaro?

xubuntu. stable but late with updates at times.

Xubuntu unless you have a AMD gpu. Xfce screen tears like a motherfucker

Manjaro, it's simple, mhwd is nice, arch wiki is great and as an added bonus you get free salt from all the Arch newbies that feel special for following a step by step guide.

Debian

compton fixes that.

>not installing Compton immediately after xfce
What a pleb.

Xubuntu has been decapitated for a long time by superior Ubuntu Mate.

don't think they fixed that. there is a quick fix tho

install gentoo faggot

Buggy shit and horrendously ugly. Who the shit unironically uses MATE as a de?

Why would anyone choose to go with Manjaro over antergos?

Manjaro Xfce

Manjaro's a literal cakewalk to setup and use. Antergos is infamous for its installer shitting the bed during installs

I've installed antergos 3 or 4 times and haven't had any issues with it.
Even if it is a bad installer, I think it's a better idea to keep trying until you get it to work than install a worse os just because the installation was mildly easier.

antergos = arch with GUI installation
manjaro = arch with other shit bundled in, also ssl certificate memes

That's buggy, although it's been getting better.
Xubuntu is stable, comfy, and the only downside is screen testing, easily solved with compton.

Windows 10 v1607

Just werks

>midfingr
he dead mate

all 3 are garbage
install solus

Antergos is the better option. Manjaro sometimes add problems to Arch.

How the fuck are people falling for the manjaro meme?

Lubuntu or OpenSUSE

Nothing wrong with it :^)

If you're retarded maybe.

It just werks?

>there's still no way to fix the bug where kswapd0 will consume 100% CPU on systems without a swap

this shit keeps me from recommending linux to anyone

So does many other distros.

They applied for an extension, their provider ignored the request.
Roland is also gone, he was purposely sabotaging some of the project.

Typical Arch elitist

Of those three, I've only used Xubuntu, but I liked it.

My cursor also disappears after suspend but on a decade old laptop with Intel X3100 running latest Lubuntu.

Typical idiot.

I've tried a bunch, and just clicked with manjaro. Everything else was buggy, wouldn't boot, or had obscure or infantile documentation. It even installs the proprietary GPU drivers for you. Haven't had any bugs yet (6+ months) and it is easier to use than the buntu flavors. Arch for idiots, and I'm fine with that.

I'm still curious to the antegros vs manjaro thing. What is antegros, what's the sauce?
Why the hate for manjaro? Nothing so far has been very compelling in convincing me it's trash. It didn't take me a few days to figure Ubuntu/mint was trash.

There are other Arch-based distros with graphical installers.

It's a "feature"
Thanks for the well rounded opinion.

You're welcome :)

I tried architect, it black screened on me. Skylake is buggy as fuck on Linux, let me tell ya.and I don't care about the GUI installer, I can copy paste just as good as anyone. Didn't want the hassle of a failed installation.

Xubuntu dude.
There's tonnes of help on google.

>using systemd
Why even bother switching if all you're gonna do is jump from a botnet to a honeypot?

>using the smiley with a carat nose

i have an ATi gpu

i use the free radeon driver

i have never had tears

try them all

in general you might want to stick with a buntu variant to get your feet wet

kubuntu or kde-neon
