It's a stepping stone to more robust AR devices. They want something people can actually afford and went the route of making a useless piece of trash instead of a hopelessly expensive device with real functionality. Their long term plan is probably something similar to HoloLens or Magic Leap. Their computer vision capacity makes this a dead giveaway. I guarantee you they've got a prototype somewhere that does SLAM tracking.

Public bathrooms have stalls. Unless they wear them into the bathroom and walk up next to some dude at a urinal and crane their head to get a good look at their dick or kick in the door of an occupied stall, I can't imagine most people caring.

Locker rooms would be a bigger deal, but locker rooms already ban cameras and if you walk into one wearing one of these, you can probably expect the same response as if you walked in holding a camcorder if people notice it.
