Literally different designs. Nvidia is focused on dx11 and doesn't have unnecessary things like async hardware that dx11 can't use.

AMD has had async since 7000 series. Devs are only recently taking advantage of it because of consoles.

If nvidia put in async hardware, they would start burning holes to the center of the earth because they have little experience with it.

My 4GB 470 draws < 150W, for approximately the same performance or a little less especially in old games. The 30W difference is nothing in real terms (in % it's bad, 25% more), and my card is in passive mode a lot of the time.

I'm happy with it, but I never want to got back to a 300W card. The decreased power consumption was one of the main reasons that I decided to upgrade from the 280x.

Fucking hate this thing. Always hot as fuck in my room and it is easily the noisiest thing in my computer. Crossfire almost never works outside of benchmarking programs and even when it does it often comes with other problems like stuttering. But hey, at least it looks cool.
