I'm curious, what apps does ug help you with?
My gps receiver seems to do the job without the need of ug.

I never installed the "mg" location provider, it's just there with CM or my Pico GApps by the looks of it.

I'm a bit tech illiterate but why do you need a github client on your phone?

i like to keep an eye on some projects when im travelling / out of range of a PC.

All this on CM13 with no Google Shit whatsoever. Only thing I kinda miss is gesture typing but I've gotten used to normal touch screen typing without autocorrect at this point.
I haven't tried APG or SimpleRT yet. Might reinstall LeafPic because thumbnails often don't show up in the stock Gallery. Silence maybe, but nobody I know is willing to make the minimal effort of installing it and encrypting their texts so there's no real point.

Does it work OK without any gapps? Think if miss Google maps but could survive otherwise

Works fine with the Nlp backends and ug Location Provider. In combination with FasterGPS it's perfect. Offline maps, almost instantaneously obtain location (when inside, use Wifi), good navigation, track logging etc etc.

I highly recommend Newpipe, it can't play streams and sometimes freezes on exceedingly long videos but the ability to download videos or mp3s straight to my phone from Youtube is pretty convenient, can also play YouTube videos sound only without the screen on, also doesn't show ads for those of you without a rooted phone

I think skytube is the more feature rich YouTube client, but i don't think you can download videos.
