Spending over $200 on a video card

>spending over $200 on a video card

i wonder how that dog feels about spending over $600 on a video card

Poor fag

>Not getting the best you can justify
Look, I appreciate not everyone wants to or can afford to get the latest and greatest; and that's fine, but without us, you wouldn't get jack fucking shit.
Neither AMD nor Nvidia could afford to do the R&D for better technology if all they did was sell those cards which don't bring much profit in.

>buying a gpu at all
fucking fag.

I can play Overwatch at 60fps on my integrated graphics (HD 530). Why would anyone ever need more than that?

but muh games, muh graphics, muh framerate

>spending over $0 on a videocard when you can just use an APU
fuck off with your videogaymes

>feelsgood playing on low to mid in 1080

$200 is about 4 nights out.

Gaming is cheap entertainment, and keeps the std's away.

beautiful

>t. neckbeard

Spoken like a Yorkshireman

but i need it for my job

it's sad that some people have to even think about something like this
200$ is literally nothing nowadays, is every fucking nigga on this poor and jobless
get your shit together cunts

>mfw nvidiots know this feel everytime they buy a gpu
>mfw nvidiots have to exercise massive mental gymnastics to justify their gluttonous splurging

Nah, just felt harder to justify even if it is my main hobby and with how easily some things don't scale with cost to performance.

To be fair I bought a 1070 and fought fuck it and sold it for more.

>the pontiac sunfire have a better price per horsepower than the porsche 911
>the pontiac sunfire is better

so what gpu do you have op?

pies an' gravy

>using anything other than a tablet or your phone
Fuck off with your deprecated desktops and housefire laptops.

>spending over $200 on anything

>being poor

People spend more than $200 on their main hobbies.

Is Cred Forums really the poorest board?

/p/ buy $3000+ camera bodies with $1000+ lenses
/jp/ buys $10.000 sex dolls.
/o/ buys $40.000+ cars.

Cred Forums can't even afford to spend $200 on their hobby?

Don't forget /n/ with their 2000$ bikes.

Being poor is not an argument

>140 fps
Fucking why though? Is 60 not good enough? Can you tell a difference?

1080ti prototype straight from nvidia's secret warehouse

>Is 60 not good enough? Can you tell a difference?
lol

Yeah, just £340 for the card itself with my uncertainty o fDX 12 or how quickly it would depreciate was more my issue. Min you it retailed for £400 and I got it for £340.

If you bought a new card for future DX12, you're probably going to be disappointed. DX12/Vukan just got released recently. We probably won't see games built from the ground up for DX12/Vulkan for a couple more years probably. There'll be hackjobs with half-assed DX12/Vulkan implemented into games, but they probably aren't showing the true colors of the new APIs.

>Can you tell a difference?
Nope, only have used 60hz monitors and that's plenty smooth for me. I'd rather not know what 144hz feels like as I would get frustrated when frames dropped below 144.

>I'd rather not know what 144hz feels like as I would get frustrated when frames dropped below 144.
Ignorance is bliss. I went from 1080p 144hz monitor to a 1440p 60hz monitor. It's pretty much suffering for me currently.

this desu senpai

Yeah, is there much point in keeping a 1070 with a 1080p monitor though? Or just get a cheaper card?

1070 if you want to achieve 144hz. Otherwise, a 1060 is probably fine at 1080p with only 60hz monitor.
I'd say get a 1060/480 and just wait a couple generations and save up to buy a high-end GPU when we see more titles with the new APIs.

>literally being poor and bitter

Nice, well I made £40 ontop of the 1070, I was thinking of getting this and overclocking.

>on their hobby

>spending less than $300 on a pci bus computer display adapter
dumbass faggot

I thought /o/ bought really cheap shitboxes?

To be honest, poor or not, it just feels worthless to spend so much money on something that will become obsolete in so little time. I'd be content with maxing every current game, instead of getting more than what I need.

nah

>so much money on something that will become obsolete in so little time
That only happens with nvidia.

The choice is between either

>1.) Spend $100 for a lowend card every 2 years
>2.) Spend $200 for a midrange card every 3 years
>3.) Spend $300 for a highend card every 4 years
>4.) Spend $600 for an enthusiast card every 4 years.
>5.) Spend $1000 for a prosumer card every 4 years.

Option 1.) seems to be the cheapest in the long run.

Tfw thinking about buying 2k camera and 1k lense but I felt bad buying a $90 ssd today

> mfw being able to spend more than $200 for a decent GPU because I have a job.

#4 for me

Factor in the fact that your card can be resold and your comprehensive research results may change

I spend $250 on a high end card every 5 years

>vidya
>Cred Forums's hobby
If this is true this is truly disgraceful

Difference is people who spend 600 dont have to upgrade every year or every two or even every five.

You're so fucking retarded.

>$250
>high end

That's why AMD is targeting the biggest markets right now in the 2-300 dollar range, right?

I use my video card for professiona audiovisuals (VJing mostly). It's already paid for itself.
Not all of us are are Cred Forumsidiots

>not just buying a laptop with integrated graphics

the only games i play are mmorpgs and integrated graphics suffice
