How old is your computer, Cred Forums?

Mine is 7 years old

Server/Laptop is from this year
Main Laptop is 3 years old.

Stopped using desktop ages ago

Funny, my case is 7 years old. It's the only part of my computer that hasn't been replaced over the years.

What exactly determines how old a PC is if you've replaced all the old parts piece by piece?

4 years old, suits my needs as well as the day I bought it. I could use it for another 4 years. Thank Thinkpad build quality and Intel's stagnation.

The screen sucks though (absolutely awful TN), and it's a bit too chunky, so maybe I'll upgrade sooner even though it's not strictly necessary. We'll see.

Main laptop is 5 (t420)
Backup server/dedicated torrent machine is 8 years old (Optiplex 755)
2nd laptop is 9 years old (x61t)
My fun laptop is 15 years old (Powerbook G4 2nd gen)
And i bought an 11 year old one today. iBook G4 Mind 2005)

8 years old but with a SSD it fucking flies.

Turns on in 5 seconds and everything's so responsive. I have no intention of replacing it anytime soon.

Workstation is under a year old

Laptop is 2

old enough for kisses

This. My 7 year old Athlon II and HD4670 still wokrs fine. Probably faster than most gayming pcs just not in raw power

Laptop - 8 years
Desktop - 7 years
HTPC - 2 years

desktop is 4 years, laptop is 2 years

6 years old

>desktop

>laptop
5 years. Damn thing is reliable as fuck

Laptop: 5 years old (got it this year)
Desktop: most parts 5 years old

If you've replaced every part of your computer then the age varies. The only thing I've replaced in my 7 year computer are the hard drives and disk drives.

5 years old

no laptop

waiting for Zen.

2 and a half. Got this for like 500 bucks

>tfw my desktop is roughly 10 years old

Chromebook Pixel LS. I bought it almost a year ago.

Mine 8

I used to upgrade every four years, but my current workstation is pushing five now. Ivy bridge had just enough iGPU for everything I need. Might upgrade within the next year if I can get significant power savings but otherwise what's the point?

16 years old

Just replaced a ~10 year old X60 with a ~1 year old chromebook pixel.

laptop: 6years
desktop #1: 21 years
desktop #2: 30 years

Assuming your computer has room behind everything for cable management, you should really be able to do something about that cable's all over the place. If not, you did your best.

3 months.

Before that it was 9 years. Feels very good.

Built in January of 2013 so a little over 3½ years. Installed the GPU in 2014. Next upgrade will be an SSD and Linux.

Built in 2011 but upgraded graphic card twice(2012 and 2015) and installed a CPU-cooler (2014)

...

...

About a year old.
First mATX build.
Might sell it soon to help fund an ITX build.

My desktop is a mix:
- 5 year old 2600K, and motherboard
- 3 year old RAM
- 3 year old 290X
- Brand new SSD and Hard Drive

Laptop is a 3 year old E6230

computer itself is 4 years old but my screen is about 10 year old right now and i would buy 27" 1440p monitor asap if i just could find one without fancy shit such as 144hz and g-sync

Which one? my newest is 6 months old, and the oldest is 20 years (though I very rarely use that one).

>desktop

I have several questions

>look mommy, I'm using linux!

>look daddy, I can tell linux from windows!

I'll take the bait.
>laptop (netbook, to be more precise)
Asus Eee PC 1015B, 5 years, pretty comfy

5 years old

The system I'm using right this moment is about 2 years old...but I just bought i a few weeks ago on Craigslist for $70. Actually found I barely use my desktop now because honestly the Yoga is just way more convenient and is still decently powerful.

Desktop is about a year old, i7-4790k with a pair of R9 290X's

Main laptop which I also got stupid cheap is an HP Envy 15t with a 3k display, i7-5500U, 16Gb of Ram, GTX 950M, 2Tb for $150 which was manufactured December last year

Mine too, if you consider the motherboard and CPU to be the computer

The case is even older (Antec P180)

I really need to get round to re-doing my overclock. Had to reset everything when I upgraded RAM

this post would make much more sense with the pic

I just sold my soon-to-be 3 years old system, well, as in the motherboard+cpu+RAM. Will be putting the new together in about 10 days.

My laptop is a bit more than one year old.

The oldest piece of tech that I still use is a 12 years old Pentium M laptop.

It's about 4 months.

It's not really complete, the video card is something that was on sale for $160 Canadian when the new cards came out (and it does the job), and I want an optical drive since it's a desktop.

Intel Summer Sale and other deals ended up saving me about $600 on it.

Shit, forgot pic.

Previous computer was 7 years though.

20 years.

But all components got replaced several times, so is it really still the same computer?

My desktop is literally yesterday, the one before it went for 6 years
I bought a toastertop for 50$ from a friend whos company he works for were giving away their old tech as they replaced them. It's god knows how many years old, at least 10

I honestly have no need to upgrade.

I could probably keep using this for another 3-5 years before I would feel the need.

Running a 10 years old q6600, which has been oc'd since day 1. Just updates my graphic card for a 460gtx in 2011 and a ssd a couple of years ago.

Laptop, 4 years + refurbished t420s i bought a couple months ago

i just ordered that same GPU, how it it on power consumption?

Laptop I bought last year in June, Desktop I have three, one with an AMD 8350, one with an Intel 4790k and one with a 4770k, the two intel ones are newer of course, within two years old I believe.

...

My laptop is 3 yo, a pc that have been replaced with the laptop is 8yo. And i have a VERY old pc, it's about 11yo. When i installed GTA SA on that pc, it lasted about 3 hours.

that's it, you won

laptop is 3 years old, got it when it was a year old, (i5 3220M)

my desktop is ever evolving uses an ivybridge cpu/board(3570k), gpu is a maxwell gpu (980)

server one is 7 years old (xeon x3460)
server two is 6 years old (xeon L5638)

Many of you guys have servers. What do you do with them? Own clouds \ ftp? Games' servers?

oldest part 5-years
newest part 2-years

Ever heard of scalable virtual private servers, also how do you use it as a file server or something like that if you can't even add raid1 4tb drives

I can't imagine the suffering of trying to run a modern enough browser to post here on that

Not even one year old, though i still have older parts in it!

>those games
Those games were my fucking childhood and teenage years

When should I upgrade my PC?

Specs
i5 3470
16GB of RAM
Zotac GTX 970
1TB Blue and 4TB Green
EVGA 500W PSU

I taught about adding an SSD but it probably isn't worth it for me, I never power off, and my HDD seems to be quick enough, boots quick.

CPU and GPU

How did you get it dirt cheap? Was it thrown into compost so the owner wanted to get rid of it? I bought basically the same one for 1000$

desktop is 4
laptop is new
phone is 2 years old

Both laptop and desktop are 8 years old spec-wise, but some parts of the PC date back to 2003. And I'm not even planning to upgrade.
> that 9600gt + core2duo e8500 feel

86 months old

6 years old MacBook Air. Thinking of getting a cheap Windows laptop to replace it because I'm a .NET developer now and also 4 GB of RAM of my Mac, while fine for web browsing and such, is starting to feel limited for running big IDEs and VMs, and the Core 2 Duo too slow for compiling and IDE source code indexing.

~2 years old (GTX 980, i5 4690k).

9 years. 2007 MacPro 1,1 running Windows 10

Laptop is 4 years old. Gpu died many months ago but still usable with integrated graphics
Desktop is 2 years old with a 4770k
Older desktop is 5 years old with a 2500k

This Optiplex 745 is from 2008, but it's chipset is from 2006, still a strong enough computer for an average user.

Desktop for legacy stuff is 12 years old
Lappy is 5 years
And I got a new low end pc just thee months ago

>iPhone 5S masterrace

>thread: how old is your computer.
>posts age of iphone

How does it look so comfy?? The background alone makes me envy you.

Those retro windows OSes are comfy as fuck, I feel sad that we had Vista when I first had a PC to call my own.

6 years old with the exception of my SSD and GPU which are both 1 year old.

Then there's my laptop which is entirely 7 years old.

Why? Phenom II strong and who needs more than a Core2Duo on a webbrowser laptop.

>who needs more than a Core2Duo on a webbrowser laptop.
This, my old Core 2 dell can handle 720p 60fps on youtube with the intel 4500 MHD.

>DOOM
>Diablo 2
>M&M6
>Mechwarrior
>Brood War

Pretty gud

Case and mouse are 12 years old
PSU at least 8
CPU + Mobo + 4 GB RAM 5 years
Another 8 GB, the SSD and keyboard are two months old.
GPU is 3 years old.
HDD unknown. It's a 250 GB Seagate that I got for free 5 years ago.

>Case
>12 years old
Damn user, I'll bet it's a beast of a case, but don't you want any modern connector on the front?

>left handed

I get by though.

i`m left handed too, thats why i noticed

Well my parts are pretty much all bout 4 years old with the exception of my graphics card which is about 2 years, case is one old motherfucker at almost 20 years

It only has two usb 2.0 ports on the front. I'm still okay with this.

It's no killer case but it's nice and compact and I just never bothered to change it.

I feel you, a lot of modern cases at budget prices are doing away with 5.25 and 3.5 inch bays to appeal to gaymers.

keep telling yourself that
the difference between a 4850 and a rx470 is astronomical.

What about it?

A winner is you

1 year. Used to have a oldass Pentium D

>not firefox under KernelEX

Enjoy your shitty browsing experience.

I'm using Opera 12.02 with KernelEx.
Believe it or not it's usable. Like really. Even multiple tabs work pretty well. Never had it crash.

Firefox is too bloated for this hardware.

Almost as old as my girlfriend.

I call my computer a year old.
Part by part it's like this:
Mobo, CPU, RAM, SSD, and case are a year old
Hard drive is five years old
GPU and PSU are six years old
Cooler is eleven years old
Can't be bothered to calculate age of fans.

...

>lol there are no usb3 hubs

SFF gaming machine - Manufactured 2 years ago, owned 1 year.

Laptop - had two, one died, this one is about 5 years.

No real desktop.

3 and somehow running faster than it did when I first bought it
