I use it because I can keep my shit up to date easily and enjoy better performance all around for my day to day activities. It's also easy to make look really good whereas with Windows you only have one theme and that theme is Windows.

Bash is intuitive and easy to use and I enjoy working with it (although I use zsh now)

And it just werks. Everything always just werks for me except WiFi on my desktop because lol broadcom. I don't have to play the drivers game, I just can plug in my phone, get my WiFi driver, and install it all from the terminal.

There is literally NO REASON to use Linux on the desktop unless you are mentally ill.

Many Linux fanatics criticize Windows and Macintosh as been designed for idiots who do not want to learn about their computers, and who are too lazy to do set their computer up. It is more accurate to say that the Macintosh and Windows are designed to be so easy to use that not much training is needed.
Consider automobiles to understand this concept. The automobiles we have today are much easier to operate than the automobiles of the 1920's. Today we have electric starters, automatic transmissions, power brakes, and automatic chokes. Also, the manual transmissions of today are easier to use, and today's cars require much less maintenance.

Linux fanatics might complain that automobiles are designed for idiots who do not want to learn anything about their car, and for idiots who are too lazy to perform work on their car. But a more accurate description is that cars have become so advanced that we no longer need to learn much about cars in order to use one. Today, even a child can drive one.

Young children with no computer skills can turn on a Macintosh and perform useful tasks without much training. Windows is almost as easy to use. However, Linux is so stupid that the users must learn about operating systems and then help Linux function.

It is easy to create software that requires a lots of training and configuration; it takes talent and lots of effort to produce software that is easy to use.

Windows 10 is the motherfucking worst Windows OS I’ve ever used. No, Vista was a fucking gem compared to this pile of absolute concentrated excrement.

I happen to own a slightly older Compaq laptop. Nothing fancy, it’s powered by an AMD E-450 APU and I’ve bought extra 4GB of RAM to make 8GB in total and replaced the crappy HDD with 128GB Crucial M4 SSD. It’s still kinda weak, but for web, music and movies, perfectly capable device. Has served me well with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Popup came along to update to Windows 10 and so I did it. And that’s where thing went downhill. 90° slope…

There is this wonderful thing with AMD E-450 APU where latest Catalyst 15.7 drivers, the very same that also get delivered to Windows 10 through Windows Update, these drivers don’t fucking work at all. Youtube at 480p lags and stutters like I’m trying to run 4K on a fucking Commodore C-128. It’s absolutely unusable.

Gone through Display Driver Uninstaller, manually disabled automatic driver updating and installed old Catalyst 14.12 Omega, the ones that worked fine and where I could playback 1080p Youtube smoothly. All was well and then I stopped using laptop for a while because I didn’t need it.

Like an hour ago, I’ve fired it up and checked for updates since it passed quite a lot of days. And guess what Windows Update automatically without asking me a single thing. Yup, you guessed it. It installed motherfucking Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers on its own that don’t fucking work with HD6320 GPU found on AMD E-450 APU.

Microsoft, fuck you and fuck your Windows 10. This is by FAR the worst Windows I’ve ever used. It’s so fucking bad it makes Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows Millennium look like fucking perfection. At least it was under MY control and it fucking worked. Windows 10 is apparently entirely under Microsoft’s control and it’s fucking non functional pile of shit.

The open source people are also like beggars. They beg IBM, Sun Microsystems, Adobe, and other commercial software developers for financial assistance, for applications to be released as open source, and for companies to release their proprietary formats.

Rather than working with commercial software developers and making the world a nicer place, the open source people are fighting with commercial software developers. The open source people complain that Microsoft is fighting with open source, but I would say the open source people started this fight, and the open source people are continuing it.

The lack of leadership in the open source movement contributes to this problem because there is nobody providing guidance or advice to any of the people who support open source software. For example, nobody tells the millions of teenage kids to quit the idiotic remarks, such as “Windose Suckx” and “Linux Rulz!”.

I just bought a new computer with windows 10 and after getting thoroughly pissed off because nothing was working correctly and it was running slower than my ten year old piece of shit I'm replacing, I put in my usb stick with lubuntu, and everything just started working. Only problem now, I bought the damn thing because the game I want to run (in beta) won't be released for Linux until 1.0, and neither Windows 10 or 7 is recognising my WiFi card.

It handles edge connections better. I'm using HAProxy to handle load balancing for an Exchange CAS (I know) array.
